I spoke to the PA at the bariatric surgeon's office (my surgeon actually moved away... It's just odd, because I'm 13 months post surgery. I think my portions crept up a bit. I've been doing mainly liquids in the morning and cut back a little on my portions and it has helped. I also switched when I take the…

Thank you so much for this! I had not seen it, before! Just what I needed!!

I just dread the NUT appointments because of past experience. So much food shame from my past! I was sent to a NUT at the age of 10 and it's always felt like an inquisition... My NUT is really awesome, but it's still hard for me to get past my feelings of being judged and shamed.

Thanks for that reminder, Mangopickle!! I'm down over 40 lbs and was getting frustrated at how it has really slowed. I have another 45-50 to go and it helps to remember that I'm not carrying that extra 40 to "help" me lose faster!! Not that I would ever want that back, LOL

I had borderline high blood pressure pre-op. By 2 weeks post-op, I was experiencing dizziness and had to go off the BP meds. Talk to your Dr.! When is your post-op visit? I can't believe how varied programs are! I am nearly 3 months out and am only supposed to have carbs a couple times a week! I had a lot of cottage cheese…

I'm so happy for your opportunities, that any suggestions won't even pop into my head!! You don't have to be a Zen Master!! Try to think of a place that helps you relax- next to a stream, sitting in front of a fire, a scenic overlook and just BE there!! Breathe... Take nice, easy, long breaths. Sounds like a very exciting…

I DID have a hernia repair and don't think it added any extra pain to the procedure for me. I used the button 2-3 times before it gave me a raging headache and I just used the IV ibuprofen after that while I was in the hospital. What was worse for me was the awful pain of the CO2 gas they pump us full on to enlarge the…

It's funny how different people's tastes are... I just LOVE the Unjury products!!! Getting samples is obviously VERY important!!!

Sorry, guess I misunderstood. Have you already been sleeved, then? It wasn't clear what you have been using up to this point. If you have been sleeved just recently, it will take a bit to work up to 60 g of protein. But yes, getting at least 60 will be important! Keep trying!! It will happen! Just try to relax!! Getting…

They didn't recommend any protein drink and they have you on a full liquid??? Sounds odd! Sam's Club has Premier Protein (choc., vanilla, and strawberry). 30 g of protein, low carb. Also, consider getting a good protein powder. Many here like Syntrax (I haven't had it, though) and personally, I have been using Unjury…

That's a whole $#!t-load of hair!!!!! LMAO!!

My doctor said it was fine to drink just before I ate, but not during or 1 hour afterwards. The water pretty much empties right out and doesn't affect food that is eaten afterwards, he told me. But, as always, stick to whatever your doctor told you to do!!!

My husband was told by the PA to put my scale away. We aren't allowed to weigh for JUST that reason!!! If we get on after all the fluids they pumped us with, we'd tend to not eat/drink what we should after surgery!!! Don't fall victim to the scale!!!!!!!! You WILL lose! Just let it be for a while!!!

Yay for you!!!!! I can't wait to be overweight!!! LMAO (I wish I could laugh my *kitten* off, bwt) :drinker:
-
I got those, too!! Thought taking one would be easier, but I end up cutting them in half. They made me throw up before I had the surgery, so I was afraid to try them again for a while, afterwards!! I can't really find any I like, either... sad

Hmmmm, how about a nice pair of orange suspenders????

Chic! I've always wanted to have a pixie cut. Alas, I am growing long, too. Not because of the surgery. Just have been growing/cutting/growing/cutting the last 5 years and just got it out longer again. Maybe if I lose too much hair (God forbid!!), I'll cut it, again!! LOL

At my clinic, you would be a candidate for weight loss surgery if you have a BMI of 40 or greater, or a BMI of 35-39 and at least one obesity-related medical condition, such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, sleep apnea or degenerative joint disease. So, I guess it might depend on how tall…

I took 8 work days, and had a couple of weekends in there, too. My dr said to start back at half days, which I didn't. I teach 2nd grade. The first couple of days, I really wished I had followed his advice... I was exhausted all afternoon and took 2 or 3 hour naps when I got home. It wasn't so much the surgery. I really…

Thanks. I'm a couple weeks out. I"m not sure whether it's a milk problem or if it's just getting used to eating soft foods. I get a funny, airy, coldish feeling (heartburn??) where I can imagine my esophagus goes into the sleeve, sometimes. I will call the office tomorrow, but wondered what others' "symptoms" were to see…

Upstate (I mean UPSTATE, not just over the bridge) New York- Central New York. :drinker:

That's wonderful!!! I'm happy for you!!!

I did have to do a pre-op diet. I didn't like it, either. However, I'm sure my surgeon would have pulled the plug on me if I hadn't tried to the best of my ability. There is more at stake here than what we want. The surgeons are under an awful lot of pressure to be sure we are REALLY READY!!! If we screw up on them, they…

That's wonderful!! Congratulations on your hard work and stamina in the process!!!

Also, it is very common to have some sort of depression issues arise after ANY surgery, not just bariatric surgery. Many people who undergo heart surgery, joint replacement, etc have a period of depression. It is sometimes part of the trauma the body undergoes from major surgery. I can't speak to the issue of how much…

Best wishes to all those undergoing the knife, today!!! You'll be glad you did!!!! :drinker:

I had a 6 month waiting period. I was not expected to lose any weight during that time, except what I would lose during the liquid phase before surgery. I pretty much maintained during most of the time and ultimately lost about 9 pounds before the liquid started. It all depends on the doc...

I swear by Unjury protein powders!!! They are really the best, IMHO. You can order them at Unjury.Com and they are very quick delivery!! Really, no aftertaste, they are neither too thick or too thin, consistency-wise, and they don't have that funky "protein-y powder" taste. They are a medical grade (rather than…

I hope everything went well for you and you are already home walking around the whole town!!

I just had my surgery a week ago!! It will go swimmingly, I'm sure!!! I was a little nervous, too. And rightly so. After all, we are totally changing our lives. I read someone's post just before my surgery that said that at some point the thought, "What the heck did I do???" will come up. It certainly did. It's not that it…
