  • LOL! I suspect I run for self-punishment and deep-seated guilt, but it would be good to have a device so I'd KNOW. :)
  • You were one of my first friends here, and one of my first inspirations when you hit your goal! I hated hearing about your difficult divorce last year, but I'm so glad you're back and recommitted! You're one of those friends I would never delete - a keeper. :)
  • I asked if I could work out at 3:00 in the afternoon for an hour, then work later in the day. My supervisor said it was cool. But I always stay that extra hour. By the way, I've seen some coworkers over the years get really negative and bitter when they start comparing themselves to other people. You never really know the…
  • Agree with people saying too much, too soon - something I still do when I get overambitious training for a race. Do some reading on Runners' World website. Their advice is usually very good. Often knee pain is the result of weakness in the hips and back, so cross training is essential. Good luck, and congratulations on…
  • No! Throwing out my key lime. :( But I like both Chobani and Fage and will continue to buy both. But I won't continue eating one if it is "puffy" or tastes carbonated!
  • I work in the fast food industry at corporate headquarters, and there is always food coming out of the test kitchen. And vendors bringing in samples. And coworkers buying the food and bringing it in. But I've made a lifestyle change, and I just don't eat that stuff. It's MY choice, I'M responsible. Without being an azz to…
  • Perfect birthday post! You simply rock. *smooch*
  • ... you're watching Archer and a character trying to defeat a metal door says, "Damn, this door must be made of some alloy of mithril and adamantium" ...and you're the only one in the room who bursts out laughing. And then you have to explain BOTH references to your teenage sons, intensely disappointed that they didn't…
  • I've only done 5K's, but I recently signed up for a half on September 28. I've just started training for it, and the longest run I've ever done was 5.5 miles last Sunday. I have a lot of work ahead of me, but I'm pretty happy with my progress so far. I'm using a free program I downloaded from Runkeeper. Friend requests…
  • My husband came to my first 5K, but he hasn't come to any since then. It doesn't bother me if I'm running with a friend, but I admit that I feel let down when I run on my own and I have no one there to celebrate with or drive home with. I'm running my first half marathon in September, and I THINK he may be planning to go…
  • What a great idea! Can't wait to see your follow up posts and reviews. I wish I had suggestions to add to your exercise menu, but I'm more a consistency fan = lots of the same over and over.
  • ^This, exactly. The Color Run is the most fun run I've done, but there is a reason it isn't a timed race. It was a lot more fun to me to run between stations, but to spend some time at the stations getting colored up. It was really fun to leave all the gadgets at home and just have fun. And it would be hard to run with all…
  • I'm really good at my job, so I have to pace myself - don't want my coworkers hating. I'm considerate like that. Thanks, MFP!
  • I'm doing the Foam Fest in Nashville in early May - not my first 5K, but it will be my first obstacle race. I think it sounds like a great first 5K for someone because you won't be too worried about your time, just having fun and finishing. They had me at foamy slip-and-slides. :)
  • Same old boring thing - a week kayaking and primitive camping on about 80 miles of the French Broad River in North Carolina. Oh, wait. I just remembered it's fun as hell. Also plan to make every weekend a vacation by kayaking every river, lake and creek in middle TN at least once this summer.
  • Oh, yeah, and even though I'm not cool, I have really cool friends.
  • Last year, I talked our CEO into sponsoring a team from our company for the Nashville Dragon Boat Races. I recruited 24 employees who had never been on a dragon boat, and many had never paddled anything. I was nervous as hell about it, but I named the team "We're Sexy and We Row It", designed our team t-shirt, and trained…
  • Hard to choose one, but when 'Babe I'm Gonna Leave You' comes on, I have to stop what I'm doing and let it wash through.
  • No weight loss this week, but after 2 months of P90X dvds and just pushing "play" every morning, my abs look flat and tight today in my form-fitting red sweater and jeans. I'm having a great hair day, I found the perfect shade of lipstick - I totally agree that today is a Fab Friday! And BerryH, you look HOT in those…
  • For superbowl weekend, Homer: Son, when you participate in sporting events, it’s not whether you win or lose: it’s how drunk you get.
  • Night of the Comet - zombie movie with awesome 80's hairstyles
  • Glad you found the site! I'm turning 45 next week and am determined that this year I WILL get to my goal weight. I started about where you are - weighed 196 in April 2011 when I joined. I've had success on MFP and made lots of friends. I'm pretty hardcore on exercise and food right now. Feel free to peek at my profile, and…
  • I've done 2 zombie runs (5Ks) the last 2 Octobers, and was eaten by zombies both times (lost both flags). I'm training early this year to get a jump on the walking dead. I'm doing the Nashville Zoo Run 5K on January 26 and the Nashville Color Run 5K on March 30. And I may do the Mule Day 5K in Columbia, TN in April, mainly…
  • I'm a nature girl. I love kayaking, hiking, and running outside. I got P90X last year, and I just started another round last week, which will keep me occupied until March 21. Then, hello Spring! And back to kayaking. :)
  • Nope. I planned ahead when I started another round of P90X, and Christmas Day is a rest day for me. :)
  • Tom's works for me, but my favorite is Nature's Gate. The Autumn Breeze scent is awesome, and Summer Spice smells good too, maybe a little more masculine.
  • Vampire ninja bodyguard to Gerard Butler. And with enough sunscreen, kayak guide by day.
  • I'm all about Michonne - she is so badass! I'm dressing as Michonne in a zombie run in 2 weeks (no slow pet zombies on chains though). I can't wait to see how they develop her character this season. How absolutely screwed is Lori if Hershel dies? Having a baby in the zombie apocalypse is horrible enough, but with no doctor…
  • You must be my sister in horror because you picked the exact ones I thought of. I think slasher movies are stupid, but these kinds of supernatural scary movies are my favorites! And I'll admit to sleeping with the light on after watching each of these for the first time. I'll also add 30 Days of NIght just for the…
  • LOVE the Duck! Especially the section in Shelbyville from Courtner Mill downstream about 9 miles to the 41A highway bridge. It's mostly flat, of course, but with fun little rapids and baby wave trains for some mild excitement. If you're kayaking in middle Tennessee, look into joining Paddle Adventures Unlimited on…
