  • First off, thank you for your service! 2nd -way to go! Congratulations!
  • Hi everyone. My goal this week is to push myself a little harder during my exercise. I seem to have hit a plateau (no loss for 1 1/2 weeks). Although I have been very faithful logging, I think my exercise routine has gotten too easy for me. So, instead of working out for a longer time (I have a very busy schedule at work…
  • Hi DJ, Jan, Marsellient and welcome Dyannah and lkow0311! This is a great group. We are small, but seem to understand each other and are very encouraging and supportive. Fall is definitely here in NY. some areas had frost Thursday morning. This weekend is getting the home rearranged for a 2 week visit from my parents. Dad…
  • Anything pumpkin!!!! Thanks all!
  • bump caponata - yum!
  • Hi all, Jan I was wondering the same thing. My news post doesn't show any posts from anyone for a couple of days. (Wonder if I have a problem with my page?) I have been a bit lax as I too was preserving our garden produce over the weekend, went to a granddaughter's swim meet and then went apple picking. I usually can't log…
  • Oh, DJ we are human. I have had one of those evenings tonight! I had finished eating and logging, but then got some bad news from a friend about her son and have ate and ate and ate. I don't think I can even remember what I have eaten in order to log it. Like will get back on track tomorrow! Have yourself a…
  • Good afternoon all, I am unable to log on in the morning so I hope you don't mind the afternoons. Because I still work and hubby doesn't we have that weekend rush each weekend. We too did the preserving of the garden this weekend, but took Sunday off for us! One of our favorite things to do with our garden vegetables is to…
  • I log daily, but only weigh once per week on Saturday morning. Weekends are my downfall (will power is at its weakest) so I have found that if I weigh on Saturday and have good results, it keeps me strong through the weekend!
  • Hi all, I can totally relate to you all also.. Must be our age! Luckily we have family that doesn't believe in extravagance. We look for 1 special gift for each person at Christmas, and a lot of home made goodies. It's hot here also, but knew I had to move it today as we had a birthday party for our 13 year old…
  • Thanks. I guess that is what I have been feeling to; increase intensity etc. I workout at home and only have a treadmill, but love the idea of the elliptical. Maybe I will join a gym - nope not for me!
  • I use the settings on my treadmill. I have to enter in my weight each time. I have an HRM and the machine and it align really close. What I am trying to figure out is: do I burn the same calories each workout, meaning as my weight goes down, I need to workout more, or should I just not look at calories and go for time? i.e…
  • Hi Jan, I too am struggling a bit right now. A lot of "stuff" happening and the stress is unbelievable. i am getting ready to head to Arizona for a week long conference where it seems like all they do is feed you. I did check with the hotel where we are staying and they have an excellent fitness room so I have packed some…
  • DJ - good for you! We all need a spurge now and then and at least you realize you can't do this forever without going back to your/our old ways! I am rested - did't do a thing yesterday! Felt kind of lazy but got right back into working out today! The loss last week kept me motivated to watch what I eat and hope I can do…
  • Excellent! You have been doing great, so your next decade will come quicker than you think! Been a lazy day for me. It was a long work week so have been dozing on and off all day. Weather is only in the 70"s so haven't felt like being outside either - did go down to the pond to feed the ducks though. This week looks a…
  • DJ - wow what a time you have had. You always are so positive! I can only hope that if I were to go through what you have I could be the same way. Thanks for the support. Sandy - you are awesome! I love how you stay motivated! Keep going girl. jangar - live life! especially at our age! Glad you had such a great vacation!…

  • DJ, I too haven't been able to check in until now. I went into work at 7am and just got home at 10:10pm! Long, long day! Looking forward to the weekend. I can't imagine what you must be going through DJ. Even on days like this I love my work. I spent the evening with 2 wonderful volunteers at a downtown festival, talking…
  • You go girl! Congrats!
  • Just going to weigh in on my own experience with migraines. I am 59 and have had them most of my life. I have been unable to take the prescription meds (Imatrex etc. due to being allergic) They have been debilitating many days until 2 years ago! At that stage I had a friend who was reading about wheat and the problems it…
  • Sandy, I too use the lite Ranch or lite Blue Cheese. Tried the fat free and can't stand the taste or texture so made the compromise to go lite and use less.
  • 8/7 - 1.6 miles 8/8 - 2.65 miles August total so far: 12.85 miles
  • Sandy, I sure admire your determination! Sounds like your students won't have an option other than to notice, especially at the rate you are burning off the weight! Keep up the good work. DJ- we went rummaging today also. Didn't buy a thing though. Most of the sales had baby stuff and little ones' clothes…
  • Thanks DJ and Sandy, popcorn it is!

  • DJ sorry to hear you are going through this. Families can be tough especially when there is sickness etc. I love the suggestion of blogging! Just remember yourself! If you need to go for a walk to get away do so! You sound so strong in your eating habits now. Stay strong and hopefully this won't last long. Darlene
  • Sorry, I haven't checked in lately. Been busy at work but still managing some walking - albeit a nasty heel blister. 8/3 - 0 8/4 - 1.2 miles 8/5 - 0 8/6 - 2.5 miles (padded the blister and it worked! Total miles so far: 8.6 miles
  • @Jan - congrats on the great news! I am hoping for the same in 2 weeks. I weigh in 1x per week and always on Saturday as weekends are usually my downfall, so it is a real incentive to stay "good" if I see a weight loss on Saturday morning. I love reading daily topics, but I too am not very creative as far as suggesting…
  • Sandy, I just love your positive attitude. After a day like today it puts a smile on my face. DJ- hope your back gets better. I am currently struggling with a blister on my heel. I have good shoes, wear cushioned socks and it is still occurring. So much so that I couldn't get a shoe on this morning. I had…
  • I take my measurements, but only for a reference in case the scales get stuck! I had the experience before that the scales showed nothing, but clothes were getting looser so I don't necessarily rely on scales! (Even though I love to see them go down! )
