  • Always keep a few healthy snacks in your bag - fruit, nuts etc for a start. Can you make extra food at dinner so you can eat the leftovers for lunch the next day? Or if you cook say, a chicken breast for dinner, could you cook an extra one so you could eat it in a wrap or with salad for lunch, or something like that?
  • Hi and welcome! For quick meal ideas I normally go for veggie omlettes (no cheese, spray oil for cooking), or spicy chicken (marinaded in lime/chilli powder/paprika then sauteed or grilled) and put inside lettuce leaves or tortillas with 0% fat greek yoghurt. There is a great recipe board on here too. Louise
  • Marinade some chicken breast strips in a little bit of olive oil, the zest and juice of a lime or two, a tbsp of hot chilli powder, a tbsp of paprika, a tbsp of smoked paprika and a pinch of cayenne (use more of these if you want more heat). Leave to marinade for an hour, then saute, and serve with large lettuce leaves to…
  • Don't feel ashamed. You're human, it happens. If bingeing after something stressful has been a habit then its not surprising that you slipped back into your 'default' position. So just chalk it up to experience, dust yourself down and get back on track. Its just a lapse, we all have them, move on and you'll be fine! :-)…

  • Thats not the point I'm trying to get across. Yes, of course people do judge each other, and yes there are these set images of accepted beauty - applicable to both genders, I'm not for one moment suggesting that men don't feel pressure to conform! But, they are not quite the same - traditionally for men is wasn't purely…
  • The thing is though, that the issue is so much bigger than that - for thousands of years a woman's worth was defined by her attractiveness - is she young and beautiful enough to nab a decent husband to look after her? And yes, society has moved on, but we are no where near a point of equality, and as the article says, for…
  • Seafood! Lobster, prawns, crab, calamari and mussels on a big platter, yum!
  • I have to avoid fat - have had gallstones - and I pretty much stick to lean protein (chicken breast, eggs, fish etc) and lots of fruit and veg, with some cereal and grains thrown in. I only use skimmed milk and fat free greek yoghurt. Unless I'm having a treat meal my fat is usually under my daily recommendation on here. I…
  • As the others have said - for some people it is a consequence of the gallbladder removal, I was told around 10% of people will have those problems. I had my gallbladder out 3 weeks ago, and havent really had much fat in my diet since before my hospitalisation 2 months ago - I've been ultra cautious as I'm really nervous…
  • I used to do low carb, as I have PCOS and struggled to lose weight any other way. I lost around 56lb this way. Then a couple of months ago I was rushed into hospital with gallstones and pancreatitis, and when I came out of hospital they warned me that I must eat pretty much a fat free diet, otherwise I would be in a lot of…
  • Good luck with your journey - you're on your way! Welcome to mfp, feel free to add me as a friend. Louise

  • This. I don't see it as a 'cheat'. Having something a bit unhealthy - but enjoyable - is part of life, and I wouldnt be able to sustain a 'diet' where I knew I couldnt eat or drink those things ever again. I eat really well most of the time and therefore I blooming well deserve a slice of cake or a burger once in a while.…
  • Tandoori chicken and plain rice, or plain naan. Yum!
  • I've put FAR too much thought into this! Canapes - smoked salmon blinis, duck confit canapes, goats cheese and red onion marmalade canapes, miniature toad in hole canapes. Lots of champagne. To start... a seafood platter of grilled lobster with butter, stuffed and battered huge prawns and calamari, with garlic mayonnaise.…
  • If you make some extra at dinner the night before you could take that in and heat it up? Or make a big batch of homemade soup and take that in everyday? If you take in some protein - chicken/tuna/ham etc, you could just keep a packet of wraps or pittas at work and have one of those. Or hummous and veggie sticks/pitta bread…
  • Thats brilliant going, well done :-) Louise x

  • This. Bingeing doesn't make you happy. It's a way to try and drown out our emotions rather than express them and deal with them - in the same way a smoker, or a drinker, or a drug user would use their substance in times of stress or upset. It might feel like comfort for a moment, but it's not comfort. Hope you're ok.…
  • Rocknrollbride.com is brilliant, and it features different kinds of weddings, and stylemepretty.com is fab too. I won't advise on wedding mags as I'm in the UK. I used Etsy.com a lot of buying things for my wedding - jewellery, menus, flower hair accessories, all handmade, gorgeous. Congratulations by the way! Louise x
  • I like to make my own dressing too, I just use less oil nowadays than I used to. Sometimes I do olive oil, dijon mustard and red wine vinegar, but most of the time I use balsamic vinegar. Yum.
  • I'm really sorry about your job, hope you find another very soon. Don't pig out because it will only make you feel worse, and ultimately it won't change anything - it won't bring that job back and it won't make you feel better. Be kind to yourself while you're upset, but not with food! Louise x
  • Special K red berries or special k strawberries and chocolate when I need that little something extra! Louise x
  • Another PCOS-er here, feel free to add me. I'm very very lucky in that I've managed to have 2 wonderful children, but I'm unlucky in that some of my symptoms don't improve with weight loss. Louise x

  • African safari? Walk the great wall of china? Visit the temples of Angkor Wat in Cambodia? One of the best things I've ever done is go camping at Ayers Rock (Uluru) - seeing the sunset over ayers rock, then sleeping under the stars and then walking round the rock at sunrise - incredible! Lol, can you tell I'm broke…
  • Climb the Sydney harbour bridge? Run a marathon? Take a hot air balloon flight? Learn to Scuba dive? See the pyramids? Trek to macchu piccu? Learn a martial art? Learn another language? Play an instrument? Some of those are on mine, few I've done already. Love thinking of things to put on my bucket list  Louise x
  • I have yo-yoed more times than I care to remember. I have - on more than one occasion - lost around 70lb and then put it all back on again just a few months later! This time I'm working on my mindset and dealing with my emotional issues and food - that, for me, is what is going to make the difference and help me keep the…
  • Theres a really good book called the body shape bible by trinny and susannah - it goes through each body shape (they talk about 12 instead of the normal 3 shapes) and talk about what clothes suit each shape, rather than size. This is an article about it too -…
  • I'm going to remember that quote - might out a note of it on my pantry just in case, lol. So true though, just draw a line under it - tomorrow is a new day and all that. I'm liking the idea of a free day once a month too! Louise x
