  • Your problem areas will be the last to go. I still have lots of abdominal fat but my arms and legs are small and I can see my ribs a bit. It takes time but the rest will slowly melt away.
  • Thank you for the replies. I ended up starting my chaLean extreme series yesterday and worked through the soreness. I am enjoying the lifting much more than I ever did when doing cardio. I don't dread my workouts now.
  • Ok thank you. I will continue with my workout tomorrow.
  • I weigh some items like deli meat where it says 2 slices are x amount of calories. Sometimes I can actually eat three slices for the stated weight. Today I weighed my pita bread since the serving size was half a pita and I wanted to cut it equally. I can't be bothered with things like eggs or 100 calorie snack packs. I…
  • I mostly eat regular food with some exception. I don't like drinking my calories so I stick to water, unsweetened almond milk and coffee with Splenda and the occasional diet drink. I do have a few go to lower calorie salty snacks like Special K cracker chips because I love the taste and can moderate my portion better than…
  • Ground chicken or turkey makes a great substutie for ground beef and you can make meatballs from it if you like. I always use it to make spaghetti sauce since I prefer the taste over beef too.
  • I use honey mustard on sandwiches in place of butter and mayo. Ketchup or sweet baby rays BBQ sauce s a side for meat. I also made some great peach chutney this summer to have with meat. It is 30 cals per tbsp and adds a lot of flavor! Balsamic vinegar is my go to dressing for salads.
  • Shepard's pie reheats nicely. I make mine with ground turkey and lots of veg then a thin layer of mashed potato on top.
  • Thanks :) I will have to have another look.
  • I understand how you feel. My family are food pushers too. Is it possible for you to bring a lower calorie dish like a nice Greek salad or something that everyone can enjoy? Pair that with a small serving of meat and ask for no sauce. That's the best advice I have because I struggle with my family like that too ;)
  • I feel sick after I eat something higher fat like pizza too. I had a big bowl of sugary food last night as a treat (graham crackers, chocolate, cool whip and butterscotch spread). It was delicious but my stomach doesn't feel well today. It's the price to pay for an indulgence I guess lol.
  • Wow that looks good! I haven't been able to find edamame in any local grocery store. Are they in the produce section or frozen foods section? I am in a smaller city in Ontario Canada. I can't always find products I am looking for, like PB2, low calorie flat breads etc. I have had edamame in salads at a restaurant before so…
  • I really don't have a lot of advice for you but I wanted to offer support since I struggle with many of the same feelings. I should be maintaining but I am somewhat afraid to increase my food every time I see those couple pounds of water weight settling in and I start restricting again. I do have some belly fat left so…
  • Usually the weight on the bag is for precooked foods so I would weigh before. The weight lost would be water from the potatoes.
  • I always save at least 300 calories for night time munchies. My latest kick is 2 cups of Orville Redenbacher Chipotle Cheddar popcorn and 2 graham crackers sandwiched with light cool whip and a tbsp of my homemade low sugar raspberry jam for my sweet cravings.
  • We eat potatoes 3-4 nights a week as well. I either bake, boil, mash or occasionally fry them. My favorite is baked "fries" tossed with a tbsp of oil, tsp garlic powder, bit of salt, tsp onion powder, tbsp of mrs dash, pepper and a bit of dried basil. They are delicious!
  • I usually try to find a chain restaurant with similar food and log it as that. It is usually close enough. You can eyeball certain foods like a cup of rice but for most combination dishes, that is the easiest option.
  • I weigh once every week or two when I feel like I have lost weight. Daily weighing used to stress me out. I would suggest taking measurements once a week to monitor your progress then just weigh when you can.
  • We usually have some lean meat on the grill along with a side of carbs (potato, rice, etc) and a large serving of veggies. I like roasting or grilling my veggies. Sometimes we have tacos made with chicken or ground turkey or I will make a meatloaf or casserole. In the winter I do a lot of soups, stews or chili with…
  • That is exactly what I am tracking: protein, carbs, fat calcium and iron. I really don't stress about sugars or sodium but I have been anemic in the past so I watch iron and I am lactose sensitive so I need to eat other foods with calcium. They are the most important for me but it is highly individual depending on your…
  • I like to try new recipes as well as lower calorie versions of family favorites. I like finding recipes on allrecipes.com because there is a comments section which is very helpful to determine if the recipe is successful before you waste your time and money trying it. Usually others will give suggestions how they improved…
  • Humpty Dumpty potato chips, especially dill pickle. A bowl of those had so much flavor they hurt your tongue, in a good way lol. I miss them. Any fellow Canadians agree?
  • Thank you to everyone who replied! I think I will start my workouts this week and slowly increase my calories. I plan to stay off the scale for a bit and just measure. Thanks again
  • It has been a four year journey for me. I lost some, had back surgery and gained a bit. Lost a bit more than had another surgery and gained a bit. I am now the smallest I have ever been in my adult life. I have been overweight/obese my entire life. When I started out at 260 pounds I was absolutely overwhelmed with the…
  • For myself it depends on the food. I am not afraid of processed foods but I tend to make up my meals with unprocessed items and use the processed foods as extras. I use coffee whitener because I am lactose intolerant, I prefer margarine as a spread but butter for cooking and I am not afraid of using Splenda in my coffee…
  • I would love to have the surgery done but our finances just won't allow it. I do have some fat under the skin but with proper skin tension, it wouldn't hang like it does. I have been overweight my entire life and I have had two big babies so I don't think my skin will bounce back much more than it has and that really…
  • I did my entire weight loss journey set at a pound a week. Sometimes in the beginning I lost a bit more than a pound if I was active but it has been pretty steady. Now I am losing about half a pound a week during the final stretch.
  • I understand how you feel. I used to be obsessed with the scale and the small fluctuations really got me down and triggered binges. Now I just weigh when I feel like I have lost weight. It is usually every 2-4 weeks and it is always first thing in the morning on a day I don't feel bloated from salt or activity. If it…
  • I second this! Pre-logging is a great idea. If you decide to have something not planned for, write it down and adjust when you get home. I almost always log my day first thing in the morning so there are no surprises when I accidentally choose something that doesn't fit into my day. Edited for ipad changing words on me lol.
  • I love smoked ham, turkey, tomato, cucumber, lots of black pepper and honey mustard. I think I will have this for lunch tomorrow.
