Thanks everyone! I think I'm getting on the right track now. I think my base layer wasn't heavy enough and nor was my top layer. I'm going for zippers so I can vent myself as I warm up. I may have to invest in a balaclava for my asthma. I'm not necessarily trying to run in sub-0, but it would be nice to be able to run down…

Thanks all!!! I tried a thorough warm up and slowing down the first mile and it seemed to do the trick!! No pain. At all.

I agree with most of the posts here. If you don't have a reaction to it, don't worry about it. You can certainly test and see how you feel if you cut it out of your diet for a week or two.

You are beautiful.

I would commit to walking a certain distance and if you happen to run some of it, great! If not, no biggie. Why do you WANT to run anyways? It's really hard on your joints.

Oh- I have deer flies. I garden in the heat in a long sleeve white men's dress shirt and a large brimmed hat. I've noticed that they land on the hat (the one in my profile pic) more than they land on me. I would do long sleeves and pants and DEET the heck out of them so it's not necessarily on your skin per se. You can…

You are an inspiration!

This. If you are still concerned I would look into glycemic indexes. I find that sugar is only really a problem for me if it spikes my blood sugar too much and then I'm STARVING an hour later. This doesn't happen to me with most fruits, but I can count on it with candy.

When the weather gets cooler, soup in a thermos might work. He can just open it and "drink" it... and it should still be hot by lunchtime...

Awesome progress!

Well, it SAYS Polar, so probably not a timex.

How COOL! You rock!

I just learned yesterday that we lose iron when sweating. Could you be a little anemic? I think I'm having problems with it because with this heat, I sweat NON-STOP.

Agreed- LOTS of water. Also, try getting a calendula moisturizer. Even if it doesn't make the acne subside completely, it will take the redness and swelling out of the acne and thus make it less noticeable. Good luck!

Please take a class on gun safety. And read "In the Gravest Extreme". Carrying a gun is an awesome responsibility that requires respect.

What an inspiration! I hope to succeed as you have!

yeah- I just wonder because when doing the fat2fit.com measurements to determine % body fat, I'm not sure what they mean by "waist" measurement. I'm guessing I entered it wrong.

Depends on what I'm using it for... milk in my coffee, almond milk in my oatmeal.

I also have spondylolesthesis with nerve impingement. It's genetic. My mother has had 5 back surgeries. I will say, if you can avoid surgery, DO. It's a slippery slope. You're too young to go down that road. I have found GREAT pain relief with pilates. It's all about the core strength for me. And Jillian Michaels "No more…

I really recommend poles. And I will put my two cents in on shoes- I can not hike in boots. I actually end up twisting my ankles more than when I wear hiking shoes. I think it's a psychological thing- my ankles get sloppy because I think the boot is offering all the support I need.

That is totally a success!!! Good for you! It's not just about the pounds. I think just overall being healthier is so much more important!

I don't weigh anymore because I was so frustrated. I feel great. I'm stronger. So meh- the rest will come.

THIS. Also, stretch calves. A LOT.

my husband tries for the 10k steps per day and he's done so well. He goes on a couple of short walks during the work day. His company has started developing a culture where you can go for walking meetings- makes taking notes hard, but I think it's really good for morale in the company as well. Not as much burning out. He's…
