  • Round two of Deja Vu.., Had a third operation yesterday as the growth had once again come back. 😢 Much more aggressive this time, much more painful. Pretty spacy from the painkillers because I’m really not able to eat yet. Not having a good time at the moment! 🙄
  • I’ve been craving Caesar Salad for a few days. I don’t keep commercially produced bread in the house, generally, so made a loaf just in order to make croutons…as my daughter said ‘how bougie’ 😂 Here with Quorn Crispy Nuggets. Was just what I needed. 😋
  • This is Celeriac Mash (Celeriac, a little bit of Skyr, some smoky nooch and chopped parsley) topped with Smoky Baked Beans, using the last of the three batches of beans I cooked from dried over the last week or so - Red Kidney, Pinto & Chickpeas. Topped with 25g of grated Edam. 350 cals of total bliss! 🥰
  • Vegan Cottage Pie. (Beans, lentils, lots of veg with a Celeriac & Sweet Potato topping). Real comfort food now the weather has finally got on board with the proper season! 😂 With cabbage and runner beans.
  • Roasted Brussels & Sweet Potato with a honey & mustard skyr based dip.
  • Fresh Figs and Goats Cheese, Thyme and a drizzle of honey. 15 mins in the air fryer (in a small casserole dish) and served on top of a big salad.
  • Alternatively, if you want a record of when you’ve intentionally fasted rather than just skipped logging you can create a ‘Recipe’ with 0 calories. Call it whatever makes sense to you. ‘24 Hour Fast’ perhaps? Then on the days you fast simply enter that ‘Recipe’ in your food diary. You could just add it to one meal or all 3…
  • Ethiopian Spiced Black Lentils with Saffron Spiked Skyr, Sweetheart Cabbage and Tomatoes. With a couple of Buckwheat Crepes.
  • Like others I use it mainly for Asian style dishes to cut the calories as opposed to using actual Peanut Butter. Usually I make up 13g of the powder with water, add soy sauce, mirin and various aromatics depending whether I’m going Thai, Malaysian or Indonesian. I can’t buy it here either (UK) but get it on Amazon.…
  • Baked Sweet Potato filled with wilted Spinach & reduced fat Feta, plus salad. Oh and a good sprinkle of Fermented Lemon Hot Sauce. We went to a Chilli Festival last weekend and bought so many bottles of fantastic hot sauces…I’m trying to finish up the 14 or so I already have open before cracking the new ones open! 😂
  • Katsu Aubergine (airfried) with Basmati Rice and pickled radish…which I did not like! I don’t understand how a simple radish can smell and taste like a rotten cabbage when it is lightly pickled! 🤷‍♀️
  • Beetroot & Apple Dhal, Basmati Rice with Peas & Spring Onions, Runner Beans.
  • Piccalilli Spiced Rice & Tomato Curry. Both from my newest recipe book, which I am somewhat obsessed with! 😂 Book is “East” by Meera Sodha.
  • Almost all hot sauces have their place. I currently have 17 different ones open in my cupboard. I’m currently loving a Truffle Hot Sauce on cheese or egg leaning dishes, an Avocado Hot Sauce on anything Mexican leaning. Frank’s is always a go to - I have Original, Buffalo, Jalapeño and Chipotle open. I have Tabasco -…
  • This is the crucial question - ‘how tall are you?’ Also how old are you? I’m 62 years old, 5ft and 1300 would mean very slow loss. Like less than half a pound per week.
  • Any which way but fried! Poached, boiled, omelette, quiche, shakshuka, poached on top of a huge salad, scrambled…the only way I cannot eat eggs is fried. Totally gross! I don’t like very runny yolks, can eat them jammy or fully cooked, but keep those greasy fried or slimy runny yolks to yourselves! Also, as an English…
  • 12 year old thread resurrected to tell us you don’t have a problem over eating or thinking/craving any sort of food. One might ask why you’re logged into a calorie counting app? 🤷‍♀️
  • I’m just quoting this because it expresses an opinion that is pretty much the antithesis of how I feel about the wider issue of ‘meat replication’ in all its forms. I don’t like meat, never have, so I don’t eat it. It’s mainly a texture but also, especially in beef, a taste thing. I’m annoyed these days when I want to eat…
  • Just in here to stand as a non-American who could live (and probably die early) on a diet solely consisting of Crunchy Peanut Butter and Jam sandwiches! Or on toast, or on a cracker. Loved it since childhood. Not really sure how it came to be a thing in my very English home some 50+ years ago before American TV was the…
  • So, a bit of deja vu for me and anyone following this thread. Second Excision Biopsy Microlaryngoscopy yesterday. This one was done by the more specialised ENT surgeon and at a different hospital - purpose built, only 6 years old, state of the art private hospital. End result, my throat is significantly more painful this…
  • Made Falafel today in a silicon Waffle mould. Air fried rather than fried or baked. Here I used them in a bowl with very low calorie coleslaw and a bunch of Greek salad style stuff plus a garlic yoghurt sauce and an oil free Zhoug sauce. It’s a winner! Extra surface area from the waffle shape makes the falafel easier to…
  • Poached Eggs with Harissa Chickpeas & Garlic Yoghurt. Much more filling than I thought. Would have been better with just the one egg.
  • Three Bean Salad for lunch. Will be better once it’s had time to chill down properly but still tasty and refreshing!
  • Resurrecting this thread because I have more to share as a means to settle it in my head. I saw the new, more specialised, consultant surgeon today, which I thought was going to be more of an ‘information and plan going forward’ consultation, but when he used the endoscope to check my larynx he found that the growth had…
  • One more for the raw carrot fans. I can eat an entire bag of raw carrots - I don’t really understand why anyone would be limited to 3 bites only? Weak jaw muscles? 🤷‍♀️ Also I have never and will never accept that a protein shake, no matter what you add to it, is a healthy alternative to a meal!
  • As far as I understand it, most of the ‘energy’ is exhaled as Carbon Dioxide when you breathe. I notice that there’s a definite link with urination in the early days but that’s water balance due to potentially a lower carbohydrate load in your diet. Carbohydrates require water to metabolise. So, basically what your podcast…
  • Almost two weeks after the excision biopsy and my voice, whilst far from normal is much improved. I have some tone back, albeit with a little hoarseness still, volume is still reduced but I think it may be a couple of months before it reaches ‘recovery’ - whatever that means. No advice as yet, moving forward, but I’m…
  • Latest update, with some unexpectedly good news. I went to see the surgeon yesterday evening to get the official histology results of the excision biopsy I had 10 days ago. Much to his surprise the results were better than expected. The tissue he removed showed ‘moderate dysplasia’ which had not invaded any of the…
  • An update - Excision Biopsy done, and whilst I wasn’t enjoying the day it’s over and the experience was as good as it could be in the circumstances. All the staff I came into contact with (and there were a lot) were kind and professional. A mildly amusing take-away from the day; the only difference I could discern between…
  • Excision Biopsy tomorrow. Unfortunately, whilst it’s still being done by the same Private Health Consultant in the private sector, it’s being done at the local huge NHS hospital, rather than the small, calm, luxurious Private hospital. I know it’s being done this way for expediency but it makes me more anxious! I don’t…
