Food log....
Is there a way to clear all of the stored food and start afresh? I have not logged properly here in ages, and would like my food diary to look as new!

is this classed as HIIT?
I have been doing 2 sessions per week on the treadmill after a warm up as follows: run fast for 1 min (probably more like 50 seconds from when treadmill gets up to speed. this is 10-10.5 mph for me, 5'6") then walk for 2 mins. repeat 8 times. All things I have seen on the internet recommend much shorter time intervals but…

ladies, cardio V lifting - calories and fat question
does anybody have experience of this? if calorie consumption was to be kept the same and 2 weekly cardio/bodyweight sessions (kickboxing) were to be replaced by 2 heavy lifting sessions, would you expect to see a greater reduction in body fat?

is it better to work on pace or mileage?
As the question suggests really. I have been easing into running over the past couple of months in my lovely new 4mm drop trainers. I have had a couple of foot tendon issues which are now resolved. I am aiming to complete a half marathon in April 2016. I am currently running about 4/5 miles a time, 3 times per week. Is it…

ladies on contracepive pill and not taking your pill break.....
Hey all :-) I know that we tend to get water retention throughout our monthly cycle which is then lost. My question is, if for some reason you have to skip a pill break and go straight onto the next months pills, do you tend to get extra water retention or does it stay at about the same level as throughout 1 cycle?

questions for runners - injuries, shoes, etc!
Hi people I wondered if somebody had any advice to offer, or have found themselves in a similar situation as me. About 10 months ago I switched from a pair of stiff stability shoes to a pair with a minimalist pair with a 4mm heel drop. I had suffered for years with knee issues, which I have assumed to be ITBS. I built up…

i feel like creeper!!!
So I have been a member of my gym for 6months now, and I am really starting to want a work out buddy! The owner tells me that there are a total of 12 female members, and I find myself checking out another females routines and form to see if they look compatible!! I may have been caught staring for too long. Omg, I need…

anyone training for a half marathon and using garmin connect?
im wondering if there is anybody out there with similar goals who uses the garmin connect software? I am currently running 2/3 times per week (will never be more than 3) about 4 miles each time midweek, with an aim to increasing my sunday runs over time, which last week was 7 miles. Would be nice to have some people to…

protein bar recipe ideas using a cookies and cream flavoured protein powder?
as the title says! I would like to try a homemade recipe using my protein powder for bars, it is actually very sweet and decadent tasting (5% sweeteners, but I didn't realise this at the time of purchase) I like to have protein bars to take to work, or for a post evening workout snack, but it can be expensive. Just trying…

for those who have had ITB syndrome...
did you find that wearing a strap/tape during running helped the problem at all?

best running GPS watch?
Does anybody have any good recommendation for a GPS running watch? there are so many reviews its getting a bit baffling! I want a watch that will show me my average pace (mph) and current pace if that's possible, as well as distance and time. I am not bothered about heart rate functions. I want one that doesn't keep…

does anybody NOT retain water after exercise?
I often hear that if you are suffering from DOMS etc, or had a change in exercise routine that you are likely to hold on to a little extra water weight. I have had days where I have had a nicely sore body all over from lifting, but have not seen even a slight shift on the scales (I weigh every day just because, but only…

heel pain - anybody had this?
This morning I got out of bed and found out that the underside of my left heel hurts when I put any weight on it. It is a dull pain, not localised to a single point. As im sat down now it has a slight burning sensation. I have had two months off from regular exercise and the last two evenings I have started the strong…

advice please - transitioning to a lower heel drop shoe.
I have been wearing stability running trainers for about 10 years (as advised by a running store after a gait analysis). I have had a lot of knee issues/pain in this 10 years, especially when compared to the pain free years of treadmill running. I have now purchased a pair of trainers with a 4mm heel drop (coming down from…

my strong curves journey starts today :-)
so in the spring time I bought the strong curves book and followed the advanced program for 2 months (trying to go 3 times per week). Due to personal circumstances, I had to quit my membership at the gym temporarily, and stress led me to overeat A LOT!!! Everything is sorted now and I have been able to afford membership at…

for those who do strong curves - what cardio do you do?
So I am in week 4 of the advanced programme (even though I cant do a chin up), trying to do 4 sessions per week but its mostly 3. I was wondering what kind of cardio people are doing? Is there such a thing as too little? I am trying to run twice a week (around 6 miles each). Since starting the programme I have gained about…

strange - dizzy when doing deadlifts..
last year I did the strong lifts programme for 3 months with no problem. I had a 6 month break and am in my first week of the advanced programme of strong curves. I have kept my weights really light to begin with to ease in to things. I have no problems with any of the exercises but have found that I get really dizzy after…

strong curves - just about to start
I bought the strong curves book and cant wait to start! I got some gym membership on Saturday and had a bit of a go trying out the exercises and plan to have my first proper session tomorrow evening. Im very excited! Its just a shame that my quads are still sore and my butt hurts a bit . Im going to see how easy it is for…

was feeling like giving up....
or at least easing off. its been about 2 months and I have only lost 3 lbs (only another 20 to lose). Was feeling quite disheartened but then my OH said that my butt looked smaller. He never really compliments me so it was a nice thing to say. Mind you, when I said that I had only lost a few pounds he replied ' well it…

first sprint intervals this year...
and im exhausted!! Did a 6 min warm up jog, then 6 intervals of a 15 sec hill sprint followed by 45 sec walk down the hill, then an 18 min jog home. I cant believe how tired I feel. I know that EPOC after HIT is supposed to burn more calories following exercise than standard steady cardio, but does anyone know if this…

just called a strength training gym....
there is a really good strength training gym in the next town over from me, and now that finances allow it, i can finally get membership. I just called the gym to ask about joining, and a very nice gentleman on the phone (sounded quite elderly) said that this probably wasn't for me and why don't I drop by one evening as…

advice from runners please- achilles tendon pain
The last two runs that I have been on (only about 6 miles) I did them when I had slightly tight hamstrings from kickboxing the previous day and each time ended up with a pain in my Achilles tendon. It never happened instantly, just sort of slowly set in during the run. It took about 4 days of rest for it to go each time.…

tight abs V loose abs advice
I was wondering whether someone here might be able to help me. Back when I was very fit, my side profile showed a perfectly flat stomach which looked the same as when I tensed it. Now however (25lbs heavier) if I look at my profile and relax my stomach somewhat, my abs look quite a bit distended/rounded but then when I…

please excuse my absence....
but I have been a bit sick recently. Either bad cold or mild flu, but there is definitely no exercising in my daily schedule right now. Keeping within my daily calorie allowance is easy enough, since I have no appetite, and I have lost a lot of water weight. Everybody else is doing so well though, im quite envious

your reviews - just got turbofire
I was looking for a new exercise regime as I was bored with insanity and body combat, so have just bought turbofire. I am 5'6", currently 141 lbs looking to get to 126lbs. I plan to stick to 1500 calories per day and follow the 90 day exercise plan. I just wondered what kind of weight/fat loss people with similar stats…

what are your favourite and most difficult exercise DVD's?
I am looking for some new intense exercise DVD's that I can do at home, with a focus on calorie burn/ high intensity etc. I have insanity (not so good for the knees, but my family complain that my jumping around of a morning wakes them up!) I also have Les Mills body combat which I quite enjoy, but im getting bored of it…
