Midwives vs. Doctors
Curious to know what people have done in the past or are planning to do when it comes to choosing a practitioner. I live in a fairly small community, and when it comes to pregnancy we have two options: the Maternity clinic at the hospital which rotates about 8 Family Doctors (meaning you never know which one you'll be with…

Going off BC
I'm currently on Alesse 28, was on and off it for a years between relationships but have been on it ever since being with my current partner. As some of you may have read in other threads already, I've started my last pack and will be stopping BC when it's finished so we can prepare to start TTC. Anyone else on this brand…

Nervous about what my belly will look like...
I know it seems really superficial but I've been having a lot of stress lately about what my baby bump will look like. I've been up and down with my weight for years and struggle a bit with self-image. I know that weight gain with pregnancy is inevitable, but the mental battle that's going to come with seeing the scale go…

Nervous about pregnancy/the baby belly
I know it seems really superficial, but I'm planning a pregnancy in 2018 (my first) and I've been having a lot of stress lately about what my baby bump will look like. I've been up and down with my weight for years and struggle a bit with self-image. I know that weight gain with pregnancy is inevitable, but the mental…

The scale is stressing me out!!
Ugh... I know I shouldn't get so hung up on the number but I just can't help it. I just started getting back in to a dedicated routine and lost about 6 pounds in the first week and a half. Nothing's changed, my gym schedule and eating plan is still on point but now the scale won't move. I know I should only be weighing…

Almost 30, preppin' for pregnancy, and looking for some gal pal motivation!
Hey ladies, I've been a MFP member for quite some time but just started up again after a long hiatus. 2017 has been full of a lot of changes so far and there's still more to come... I'll be 30 later this year and my partner and are talking about starting a family. I've undergone a pretty substantial weight loss already but…

Nutrition & fitness during pregnancy
I'm not really sure where to post about this topic but figured here was a good fit. My boyfriend and I have been talking recently about having a baby. I've always been super keen to be a mom but wanted to get closer to my weight and fitness goals before we conceived because I wanted to be healthy for our baby. Now that…

How can I motivate my boyfriend to workout with me?
My boyfriend and I haven't been together for very long but in the time we have spent together I've found that my workouts have slipped a bit, mostly because I've been prioritizing my time with him over my gym time. I don't want this to continue because working out is a very important part of my life and I don't want to…

Do I HAVE to eat after a cardio workout?
Sometimes my days are quite busy and I can't get to the gym until 7pm or so. I don't like eating that late so I'm wondering if it's crucial for me to eat something after a cardio workout?

HELP! I feel like I'm being set-up for failure.
Over the past few months I've made some great progress with my weight loss journey. I got myself into a great routine at the gym as I lucked out by having group fitness classes available to me with an instructor who I absolutely loved. Going to her classes was one of the best parts of my week. I've now just moved to brand…

Looking for some fitness and motivation buddies!
Hey MFPers! I'm 28 years old, 5'8" and looking to drop about 35 more pounds. I've been down this road before and have generally been quite successful, however I often fall off the wagon with a few good binges and then it takes me months to recover. This time, I'm making a real and sustainable change! As as today I'm down…

Protein bar suggestions?
Any recommendations for a good protein protein bar? Not just taste-wise, but in terms of nutritional value as well. I've heard good things about Quest and Vega Sport... thoughts? I don't plan on using them as a regular meal replacement, but sometimes it's hard to get a solid meal/snack in after a long hard workout.

Thunder thighs are getting me down.
I've been making great progress with weight loss over the past few months and have seen some great changes in my body by eating right and incorporating lots of exercise. The one thing that I haven't noticed a change in, however, is my upper thighs. They are still so jiggly and I feel like you can see the globs of fat on…

Preventing a sore "Spin Bum"?
I'm doing my first Spin class this weekend and I've heard stories about how hard is it on your gluteal region. I don't have a gel overlay for my seat, and I'm not going to invest in padded shorts unless I know I actually like the workout... so any tips on how to make class as comfortable as possible? (And is the pain…

Food sometimes dictates my social life
I've been overweight my entire life and I finally feel like I'm in a place where I'm able to make healthy choices and stick with a fitness routine that I love. The only thing is that I find my new lifestyle sometimes dominates my social life: I'll avoid certain functions or activities because it interferes with my gym and…

Slow progress on my strength gains, am I doing something wrong?
Hey MFPers, I'm 28 and am on a weight loss/fitness journey. I've lost a total of 60 pounds since my heaviest weight, but I still have 40 more to go. I do a lot of different exercises during the week... primarily consisting of kickboxing, and mixed cardio/strength training classes (i.e. Tabata, HIIT, etc.). My workout…

Can I eat right after a workout?
I usually workout from 5:30-7:00 during the week. I don't like eating meals that late but I also want to make sure I eat something after my workouts. Is there any problem with eating a light snack immediately following my workout? Like within 10-15 minutes?

Tips for loose skin?
I'm sure this topic is all over the message boards, but I just wanted to start my own. Does anyone have any tips for preventing loose skin? I know the basic rules (incorporate resistance training, eat protein, lose slowly) but just curious if anyone has any personal experiences to share. I've been up and down on the scale…

Tips to get better at push-ups?
Push-ups are by far one of the hardest exercises for me, but I am determined to keep at it! I do them several times a week in my workouts (I do Tabata-style/Strength training classes 3-4x a week for 60 minutes that include push-up sets), but I don't seem to be getting any better at them. Right now I do them on my knees,…

Over daily calories... tell me it's not the end of the world!
My daily recommended calories from MFP is 1200. Today I ate just over 1350, but still burned about 300 in exercise. I know I shouldn't be stressing as I still created a deficit I just need some reassurance. Is this even worth thinking about, any chance this could interfere with my weekly loss? I'm very rigid when it comes…

Anyone tried the SkinnyMint Teatox?
Teatox's seem to be all the rage right now and I'm wondering if anyone has tried one, specifically the SkinnyMint? What are your thoughts on the whole concept? What I like about it is it doesn't involve any drastic changes to your eating habits, it's just the addition on the teas in the AM/PM.

Any "bigger" gals that have tried Kayla Itsines program (Bikini Body Guide)?
Hey ladies, So I'm by no means a fitness buff, but I do enjoy exercising and have been on a good streak lately. I've heard a lot of good things about the BBG program but I'm wondering if it's easier to see results on slimmer bodies than on those of us who still have a few pounds to lose. I'm currently teetering on entering…

Thoughts on the Bikini Body Guide (BBG) program?
I've heard a lot of great things about this program and just curious if anyone has tried it, and if so, what were your results like? I wouldn't call myself a fitness buff, but I've been working out consistently for months and have made some great strides with weight loss. I'm just breaking in to the 190's so I was a little…

What is your best piece of advice for someone on a weight loss journey?
I have a goal to lose 50 pounds by July -- for any of you out there who have met your goals or are on your own journey, what is the best piece of advice you would give to someone? It can be specific and technical (i.e. training tips, snack ideas, meal prep tricks, etc.), or broad and inspirational! Let's have it!

Eating at night?
Sometimes I don't get home from work until late which means I'm not eating dinner until 8-9PM. Does this matter as long as it's keeping withing my daily limit?

Does it matter WHEN you workout?
Does it matter what time of day you get your workout in? I eat a calorie controlled diet, but sometimes I can't get to the gym until after dinner at about 7/7:30PM (I don't like eating too late, I sleep crappy). I just want to make sure I'm not decreasing the efficiency of my burn my working out in the late evening.
