I'm back, and here's why...
Hi, y'all! I don't know if anyone remembers me, but I used to hang out here quite a bit a couple years ago. I have tried to stick with LCHF, dabbled in some other ways of eating, went completely off the rails for a while, and now I'm back. No other WOE has yielded the results low carb has both on the scale and off the…

Change in calories burned as baby grows?
My son is 5 months old, and we supplement with formula (usually just one feeding per day while I'm at work, as I've not been able to build up a stash sufficient to keep him fed all day) and he is starting to eat some purees and infant cereals. Until now I have been adding "Breastfeeding" as a breakfast food worth negative…

Salt lick?
I actually went looking for these things one day because I was seriously craving salt and remembered those big red salt licks I used to see put out for deer and cows.... http://www.humansaltlick.com/ http://www.himalayassaltlamps.com/tequila-salt-lick And then there's this:…

Seems I do this every few months....
I'm back! At least for today. My life seems to just become more and more chaotic, so I haven't had time for checking in here, but I'm still around on MFP. I am finally consistently back on track after weaving in and out of traffic for almost 6 months (basically from my birthday, in October, until a couple weeks ago). I'm…

Starbucks now has low(er) carb eggy deliciousness without bread!?
I know it's shameful, but I'm addicted to Starbucks. Since going LCHF, I've only purchased Moon Cheese to eat there (and boiled eggs, one time, but they tasted weird, so I gave up). This morning I got an email about these Sous Vide Egg Bites. Oh my! The Bacon and Gruyere one has 9g carbs, 19g protein, and 22g fat per…

I'm back (in more ways than one)...
Maybe you didn't notice my absence, but I did! And so did my scale! I've still been eating low carb, but I relaxed on a few things, frustrated with my lack of progress, weird unexplained physical symptoms (mostly the skin rashes/hives), and way-over-scheduled life (I added 3 more part-time/contract jobs on top of the…

Supplements again?
Those who take magnesium supplements, how much do you take each day? What other supplements do you take? I have magnesium plus electrolytes supplements contain 500mg magnesium oxide (that's not even the good kind, is it?), and I take one before bed every night. If I've been having leg cramps, I take two. But I'm not sure…

TPBM Tuesday.
I'm bored. Let's play a game, shall we? Here are the rules: Read the most recent post/comment, and respond Yes or No, along with your own TPBM (The Person Below Me). I'll start. The person below me has already exercised today.

Dairy elimination did nothing, but reintroduction may have....
This may be completely unrelated to dairy, but I can't help but notice that something is off after having gone off dairy for a little over two weeks with no noticeable impact and then adding it back in. Suddenly I am bloated, crampy, and mildly constipated (sorry for TMI, but, you know, it's relevant). My weight went up a…

Who uses apple cider vinegar? What do you use it for? Does it help? Any suggestions/tips? I've been seeing articles claiming it has numerous health benefits, and I just read that it's high in potassium, so I'm thinking of getting hubby and myself to drink a bit every day, but I'm nervous to start out.

Lost a spare tire?
How about 3? And they're not even spares -- they're full size!

He's actually doing it!!!
He being my husband. For those who don't know/remember all the crazy details of my chaotic world, hubby was told he is diabetic a few months ago and played around with the idea of going low carb but never committed to it. Three days after Christmas, his stepfather (who is in his 50s) had a stroke, and hubby once again told…

IF resources, suggestions, tips?
I know this has been discussed numerous times, but can someone point me to some good resources on intermittent fasting? I've started doing 24-hour fasts on some weekdays (nothing but coffee and water until dinner a couple days a week) but want to learn more about fasting so I can be sure I'm doing it "right." Also, on…

What are you having for Christmas dinner?
I'm looking for special occasion dinner ideas that are low carb friendly. I'm kind of over turkey and ham after our Thanksgiving dinner and leftovers that went on for weeks (although I'm still enjoying the ham cut up and scrambled in with my eggs for breakfast). I was thinking of maybe trying cornish hens or something. I…

Fog that lifts after eating?
This week I've noticed I'm stumbling around sort of in a fog, like I'm just extremely fatigued and cannot pull it together, cognitively or physically, even with copious amounts of coffee (which may be part of the problem). The weird part is that as soon as I eat a LCHF-approved meal or snack, I'm fine for a couple hours.…

Stall? Maybe. Faulty attitudes? Definitely.
So I weighed in this morning at 188 pounds exactly. I've been here before. Quite a few times, actually. So I checked my weight graph on here, and sure enough, I weighed 188 for the first time on September 2. I've basically been bouncing up and down between 185 and 190 for almost 6 weeks now. Sure, my lows have been getting…

What's up with my nose??
Seriously, I am SO sensitive to smells now! I can't walk into a department store or down the hall in my office if there are any perfumes or colognes around without my eyes burning, my sinuses swelling, and my stomach turning. I've posted recently about other smells making me nauseous. If my husband puts on body spray or…

The smell of bread.....
...makes me feel nauseous! And my sense of smell is so acute now! Going to the grocery store is a bit of a PITA because the bakery is near the produce, and the smells from all the dough and batter and what-have-you make me want to turn and run from the store. But my little ones love their fresh fruit, and hubby and I enjoy…

Cold BPC?? Which one of you.....
...told me it would be fine if it was blended first? Hmm??? I tried it. Made my BPC last night in the blender and then poured it into my cups and put it in the refrigerator overnight. Sure, it tastes good, and most of the coconut oil and butter stayed mixed in, but there are CHUNKS of oil/butter sitting on the top. I…

Reaction to coconut flour or almond flour?
So it doesn't happen every time, but I've noticed that sometimes when I use almond flour or coconut flour as breading for my pork chops or when I cook with them (usually just pancakes) I get an immediate stomachache that lasts a couple hours and then dissipates. Does this happen to anyone else?

What's your current food obsession?
Mine is peanut butter. Seriously, if I could lick the inside of this peanut butter jar I just finished, I'd be much happier. It must be a shark week phenomenon. At least it's not chocolate anymore.

I'm so sick of....
....my husband's comments that I'm losing too much weight. I am still obese! I'm 5'1" and barely under 190 lbs, and yesterday's remark was, "I've always told you I don't want you to look like a Victoria's Secret model. They're too skinny. That's just not attractive." Seriously??? While I appreciate that others notice I'm…

"Sizzle" app!
Okay, surely someone here is single and wants to try out "Sizzle!" It's an iPhone dating app that is based on bacon, using bacon-related preferences to match people. Seriously. I heard about it on the radio this morning, and I am so curious! But I am neither single nor do I have an iPhone. Please please PLEASE will someone…

How much water do you drink?
Just out of curiosity, how much do you drink? Do you flavor it, drink it straight up, with a twist, sweetened, unsweetened, in the form of tea or coffee or soda? Seriously, I'm just curious, because I am always thirsty on this WOE but I am drinking 96-128 oz of plain filtered water each day in addition to my coffee. I'm…

Refresh my memory about facial flushing?
Background: I've been low-carbing for 6 months now, with a target under 40g net carbs or less per day. I recently increased my carbs to the 50s and subsequently found myself cheating on a pretty regular basis--mindlessly grabbing a small handful of chips or a cookie or two "to tide me over" (yeah, right). So after the…

joint pain....
So I went off plan a bit this weekend, starting on Friday... carb levels up to 150ish or so. I noticed yesterday my knee, lower back, and hips were hurting again. I guess I didn't realize they'd stopped hurting until they started again. Carb-related? Or just a coincidence?

I give up. (hubby's follow-up appt)
So I took off Friday afternoon to accompany my husband to his follow-up appointment so I could find out the details of how he should eat and what he should do for his high blood pressure and newly diagnosed diabetes. Well for starters his doctor didn't even meet with him--we sat there for more than 2 hours and only got to…

What's on tap for September?
Any challenges in the works? I haven't been able to keep up with things as well as I used to, so I'm not sure if I missed this somewhere.

Healthy BMI
I know this was discussed recently, but I can't find it. I just discovered that I need to be in the 150-pound range before I get out of the category of obesity, and something around 120-130 before I am no longer considered overweight. Honestly, I haven't been below 150 since around sophomore year of high school, and my…
