Carrying forward a deficit beyond 7 days
Does anyone calorie cycle beyond 7 days? How do you administer it with MFP? I have 1000 calories left over from last week and want to use them on Friday but it’ll show an excess for the week on MFP. I’m loathe to build up a deficit this week since i already have one left from last week. Any ideas?

Hershey’s sugar free chocolate syrup
Got some syrup for Christmas and it looks amazing. But I have no idea what to do with it (other than pour it over ice cream) as I’m in the UK and we don’t usually have it over here. Anyone from the US got any clever low calorie ideas please?

Can’t seem to maintain
I reached my GW of 125 in early November on 1300. I immediately went on vacation and gained a few lbs which quickly came off when i returned home. I got to GW again in early Dec and put my calories up to 1550. I estimated my maintainable calories based on my rate of loss whilst on 1300. However over the past few weeks I’ve…

Any maintenance advice for a newbie?
Just got to goal weight (125lbs) after 666 days eating 1300. Still losing rapidly - 122.4lbs when I stepped on the scale this morning but am not worried about that since my maintenance range is going to be 120-125 and I know I’ll gain when I first go to maintenance calories. Was planning to add in 100 calories per day for…

113lbs lost in 666 days
From 237lbs to 123.4lbs this morning. Religiously weighed solids and measured liquids. Never had a plateau but lost some weeks, gained some weeks. Gained every month at ovulation time (3-5lbs) and then lost over the other three weeks. Ate everything and anything that fit my macros (high protein, medium carbs, fat and…

Kale yoghurt
On my trip to the store (Sainsburys UK) today I was intrigued by a “lime, kale and mango” yoghurt for sale. High protein (20g) quark rather than dairy. Has anyone tried it? I like their blueberry, strawberry, raspberry and papaya versions but wasn’t sure about kale. Seems a bit hipster...

Still losing too quickly?
Based on the advice of the sage MPF forum, I reset my goal to 0.5lb a week. I only had 8-9lbs to lose and was set at 2lbs pet week. This moved my calories from 1200 to 1360. Whilst my loss has slowed down, it’s still about a 1lb a week now. Over the past two weeks I’ve lost 4.4lbs (I’m down to 129.2lbs with 4.2 lbs to go)…

Hamstring injury - change macros and calories
After being a bit twingy for a few days, my hamstring suddenly became very sore whilst running. Sharp stabbing pain from gluteus down middle of hamstring which meant I had to walk home. Assuming I'm not running for a few weeks till it's healed, should I change my macros or calories to aid healing? Currently 5'4", 132lbs…

Any swimmers in Houston, TX?
Not sure if this is the right place to post this but I'm visiting Houston in November and looking at hotels to stay in near pools or possibly with pools. Serious size rather than paddling pools. Any recommendations from the MFP community? I know the downtown YMCA has a pool as does the Hyatt Regency.

Role of dietary fat in dieting
My PT has raised the issue of my fat intake being very low. What role does dietary fat play in weight loss? Does it matter that I'm always 1/3 - 1/2 of the macro? Other than satiety.

Oppo ice cream in UK
Anyone managed to find this in the uk? Apparently it's meant to be our equivalent of halo top.

2lbs a week when less than 10lbs to lose
I know the received wisdom is that when you've only got a small amount left to lose you should aim for 0.5lbs a week. But why? Is there any science behind the idea? I've got 9.4lbs to go and am happy on my 1200kcal at 2 lbs a week. Am i endangering lean muscle mass if I don't increase my calories?

Changing routine
My fitness routine is currently: M - 2.5km swim T - 5km run and PT session at gym (strength) W - 2.5km swim T - 5km run and PT session at gym (strength) F - 2.5km swim S - 5km run (parkrun) S - 2.5km swim I'm getting towards maintenance (10lbs to go) and am keen to lose the two 5am runs on Tues and Thurs. 2 questions: 1.…

Diet break
After recommendations on MFP I've decided to take a diet break. I've lost 98.5lbs after 18 months on 1200 a day plus exercise calories. For those of you who have taken diet breaks - how do you work out what is maintenance? MFP recommends 1630 for me which seems low.

Lost 93lbs now gaining?
Over the past 18mnths with MFP I've lost 93lbs by sticking to 1200 calories a day and eating back most if not all of my exercise calories. Gone from 237lbs to 143lbs. I'm 5'4". I do a lot of exercise - swimming 4x a week (2.5km each time), gym with trainer twice a week and C25k 3x a week. For the past two weeks I've…

Switching between time zones
I've just flown from the UK (GMT) to Chicago and will be finishing up in Fargo, ND at about midnight (Central time). Which means my "day" has been about 36 hours long. How on earth do I make it work with MFP? I've reset the time zone in MFP to Central but its given me an extra day. Do I get a whole new 1200 calories? That…

C25k - skipping weeks
On Saturday I started C25k and did W1D1. Today I accidentally did W2D1 rather than W1D2. I know it's important to build gradually so should I go back to W1D2 or keep going from W2D2?

Waterproof earphones for swimming

Vacation and diet
I've been on vacation for 10 days and have stuck to my 1200 calories as normal but made a small change by eating back all my exercise calories rather than just a proportion. I've kept up with my exercise routine, swimming 1600m every morning. I've decided to have a bit of a break for the end of my vacation and eat at…

Any New Years Resolution dieters left?
I started with MFP as a New Years resolution and had a number of great supportive friends online. Sadly over the months they've disappeared and I'm left feeling slightly lonely. Any other New Years dieters left out there in the same position?

Misfit Shine 2 swimmers edition
After more than 10 years away, I'm heading back to the pool tomorrow and have treated myself to a Misfit Shine 2 swimmers edition. I know trackers are notoriously inaccurate in tracking but was wondering if anyone had experience of this one? It's meant to track laps as well as cals.

New Years diet reaches first plateau
Any other New Years dieters reached their first plateau? I've dropped 45lbs over the past 8 months but am now stuck losing and gaining the same 2lbs over and over. I get that weight loss isn't linear but it would be nice to hear from anyone else in the same situation!

Box squats
I'm a strength newbie and have been started off on the basics - leg press, front squats, box squats etc. I'm progressing nicely with everything, gradually working my way up to 3x15. Except for box squats, which are defeating me. I seem to be stuck at about 3x7 or 3x8 per session. Any more reps and I simply can't get my…

DOMS after strength training - how long to stop?
I did my first strength training session on Friday night and was very sore on Saturday. Sunday I could barely crawl down for stairs! Today it's better but still not gone. I'm guessing I should wait for the muscles to repair before doing more but can any experienced lifters remember how long it takes to go? Thanks.

Unused calories: is it ok not to eat them
Odd question this: what's the potential impact of not eating my calories for day? Normally I happily munch through my 1,200 but today I've had to work late and had my evening meal very late. I've still got 370 calories left but have neither the energy, hunger or inclination to eat them. I'm guessing it's fine not to eat…

Fitness app advice please
Does anyone have any advice about fitness apps? At 234 lbs I'm not keen to step into the gym until I'm a bit more presentable but am aware that a bit of daily exercise can really help with weight loss. Can anyone recommend an app that will be suitable? Thanks!
