Jar of Peanuts per Day over GOMAD?
Heu guys, I want to gain 20 pounds relatively fast (I lost lots of weight due to depression. I used to work out and gained about 50 pounds over the course of two years but I lost it all.). I was wondering how bad it would be for your health if I just ate a jar of peanuts throughout the day on top of my regular three meals?…

Why do I look better after I quit working out?
I used to lift weights 3x a week for a year but quit because of lack of progress and because I started working a crappy overnight job. I've been eating and sleeping like crap for the last 3 months and haven't been doing any exercise but lately I started to notice I look better than I ever have before. Why would that be?…

Night shift workers?
Just wondering if anyone else works graveyards, and how you manage to maintain a healthy lifestyle/routine. I'm about to reactivate my gym membership and go at 8pm before work, but I don't know how I'm going to manage a healthy diet since I share a kitchen with a bunch of daywalkers and don't want to wake them. Not to…

Best exercises for desk workers?
I find that I get a stiff neck and tight upper back after working at a desk and looking down at the computer all day. I try to maintain a good posture but I'm tall and its really difficult when the desk is too low and the back of the chair has no head support. I'm guessing the best exercises would probably be core, back…

Is resistance training necessary to be healthy?
I'm a security guard. My shifts include lots and lots of walking. Sometimes up to 15km a day. Sometimes up and down lots of stairs. I used to go to the gym, but now I work 12 hour nights and sometimes I do swing shifts. I'm just too damn exhausted all the time. And to be honest, I never really enjoyed lifting weights 3…

I Quit.
I'm done bulking and cutting and paying gym membership fees. I started off extremely underweight two years ago, and went through two bulking/cutting cycles. Now I'm a healthy bmi with a little muscle, and I'm content with that, but I'm so sick and tired of the calorie counting and the weightlifting. Will I be okay if I…

Does slow bulk = less fat gain?
Do you gain mostly muscle when eating a small surplus or is the ratio of fat:muscle still 1:1? Say you only gained 2 pounds in a month. Would that be 1 pound muscle and 1 pound fat? If so, what is the advantage over gaining 4 pounds a month, 2 pounds muscle 2 pounds fat? Are your extra calories rationed to your muscles…

Is this a solid plan?
I got a 4 month summer gym membership and thinking of making the most of it so I came up with this bulk/cut cycle: 198 starting weight 190 (lose 8 pounds fat) - 1 month cut 196 (gain 3 pounds muscle / 3 pounds fat) - 3 month bulk Total change: -5lbs fat +3pounds muscle Is this realistic? I won't neccessarily be lean after…

Does anybody do fullbody days back-to-back?
If I'm doing bench/rows/squats one day and pullups/overhead press/deadlifts the other day, the exercises seem different enough (with the exception of maybe squats/deadlifts) that you could do them back-to-back without effecting each other too much. Particularly, I feel like unless you used isolation exercises as well your…

How do you do your warm up sets?
I don't like calculating % of 1RM so I usually add 50 pounds for each set and do my regular # of reps, decreasing by 1 each set. For example, if I am doing 225 pound deadlift I will do: Bar x 8 Bar + 50 x 7 Bar + 100 x 6 Bar + 150 x 5 3 working sets (Bar + 180) × 8 I know this is probably far from optimal. Just wondering…

Save carbs for post-workout?
I've been reading about insulin and cortisol and I am so confused. Is it optimal to weight train fasted and then eat carbs after? If you eat breakfast before training should you stick to protein? Apparently carbs in the morning spikes your insulin and makes your body burn less fat throughout training...? But then if you…

Starting 1 month cut
I want to lose 6-8 pounds of belly fat before I go to Las Vegas. This is my first time cutting, does anybody have any tips? Is this a realistic goal? How much of a difference do you think a few pounds will make on somebody with a tall and lean frame? (Basically Skinny Fat with a little bit of muscle) Pics:…

Push in AM and Pull in PM?
So I did my push routine this morning and my muscles are fatigued but I have lots of energy and I'm bored so I'm wondering if I can go back this evening and do my pull routine. I've read about '2 a day' workouts online but they seem to be about doing the same muscle groups for each workout.

Do you ever feel guilty?
Half the world is starving, and we're stuffing our faces to feed our own vanity. I know I feel guilty sometimes. I guess one-third of the food grown in the world gets thrown away anyway, so if nobodies gonna feed the poor we might as well eat it so it doesn't go to waste, right?

Almost reached my weight goal
I'm 6'5 started at 135 lbs now I am 10 pounds away from reaching my goal of 210. Once I reach my goal, I will be about 20% body fat. My question is should I recomp or bulk to 220 and cut back to 210 once I reach my goal and repeat that cycle until I'm happy? I would hate to cut now or as soon as I reach my goal because…

Eczema and weightlifting
I've got eczema on my hands, and i'm not sure if it's from the bar or from my gloves. I've tried going with and without gloves but have not been able to see a noticeable difference. I have a nickle allergy, but i also think the rubbing and sweat of the gloves could be the issue. Anyone have similiar experiences with eczema…

Red Robin
Anyone else eat here? What do you like to have? Today I had the Whisky River BBQ Burger, Cookie Magic Monster Milkshake, and two orders of steak fries. 3,130 calories in total. My friends and I go every Tuesday. I'm looking forward to trying the Royal Red Robin with egg and bacon next time!

Easiest and cheapest way to reach calorie goal
Is eating 8 tablespoons of peanut butter and drinking a 16oz glass of milk every night a good idea? It seems so stupidly easy and cheap to do. And it seems healthy too. The peanut butter I buy has 133 tablespoons in each jar and costs 8 dollars at costco.

Why split up upper and lower body?
If you take a full body routine and throw a few isolation exercises in there isn't it just the same as an upper/lower routine done in one day? What's the point of breaking it into two workouts if say the volume and number of exercises is the same? My routine consists of 12 exercises and takes 2 hours but I only need to…

Accessory Day?
Current routine: A: OHP Chin-Up Squat B: Chest Press Row Deadlift Repeat. ABA BAB. Instead of repeating a workout twice a week I was wondering if it would be okay to make the third day an accessory day? Something like this: Seated Cable Row DB Bench Press Incline Bench Press Lat Pulldowns Lateral Raises Triceps Pressdowns…

Creatine: Use minimum 4 weeks
What does that even mean??? Do I take it every day even on rest days? Will something bad happen to me if I stop taking it before the 4 week deadline? And what is the best time to take it? Pre-workout? Post-workout? Thanks!

My body resists cottage cheese
I used to eat cottage cheese plain all the time, no problem. Then one day I had a bad bowl of cottage cheese or something and I haven't been able to stand the taste or texture ever since. I tried eating it with apples and maple syrup and cinnamon and I admit that it was delicious, but I still had to fight my body to get it…

Can I bulk now??
This is me before my bulk, during my bulk, and after my cut. There are only six months between the first two pictures, and a whole year between the last two. I literally did not put on any more muscle after the first six months, I just got fatter and fatter. I ate a terrible diet just to 'dirty bulk'. I don't have a photo…

It's hard being a tall lifter...
I'm 6'5" and today my reality was shattered when I came across a 6'5" natty body builder on YouTube. I realized I'll always have that lanky look no matter how much muscle I put on since muscles are more stretched, and it will always be harder to lift as much as my shorter companions. Realistically, I'll probably always be…
