Friday Follower (twinwolf list) thanks Neo!
Runningneo122 started this Friday Follower idea, and I wanted to put mine out there! I recommend runningneo122, skolls081102, Newfiedan, staceyl76, Rileysowner, and bigbeaver! I have a few other great cheerleaders on my friends list and everyone of them comments daily and is 99.9% of the time positive. That's my two rules.…

Need a swift kick!
So, in the month of April I only lost 4 pounds. I had two days in the whole month that were less than stellar. One was a Phillies game my wife and I went to and the other was one day in Washington DC where we ate less healthy than we normally do. Between Jan 1st and April 1st I had lost 54 pounds. Now I know that your…

NSV and good feelings all around!
So today I dug through my closet and was sorting clothes to donate. While I was looking I decided to try on a pair of pants that I haven't worn since I was 21 years old. They are size 38 Levi Dockers which were "in" back then. I've had them in the closet since not long after I got back from a cruise in 1997. I wouldn't say…

Shin Splints? Maybe?
I will start this off by saying that I know little or nothing about what I'm about to ask. I've heard people say they have problems with shin splints and have had the pain described to me. While I don't have a memory of pain in my shins ever before yesterday, I think this pain I'm experiencing is exactly that. It's like…

Red dress, a cape, and the sword..
So like a bull drawn to the red cape and his demise by the sword, so was my workout led to disaster by a red dress and matching lipstick on Hanna Storm on ESPN this morning. Was running on the elliptical this morning and got distracted and missed a 3-5 minute chunk of time. Should have had 2 minutes of high intensity in…

What to do....?
My wife, kids, and me are all going to walk all over our Nations Capitol tomorrow. Washington DC on The Mall. Our goal is to hit as many stops as we can: National Art Gallery, Air and Space Museum, Smithsonian, Museum of American History, etc. Tonight we hit a lot of the monuments and memorials: Lincoln Memorial, WWII…

The next NSV
So I know this is a small NSV, but it means a lot to me. I just got done playing 2 hours of my favorite sport. Started as 1 on 1 and finished as 3 on 3. Half court basketball! I love playing basketball. I was drenched by the end and my legs feel like lead so I know I expended a good bit of energy. Can't wait to play again!

Muscle Soreness and Stretching
I just started using an elliptical for the first time. Two days ago and the first day I had some soreness, but today was much worse. I previously was using a treadclimber, but since I'm now working out at a gym I had to switch. I had an assessment on Monday also in which I did some squats (not sure what kind they were),…

Sardines
Ok folks, dumb question... I just bought a package of Sardines last night. They are Crown Prince brand, lightly smoked in oil. What I want to know is how do I eat them? Should they be eaten right out of the container? Should they be cooked somehow and if so, how? Nowhere on the package does it say ready to eat, yet none of…

Pizza - treat day - HELP??
First off let me start by saying I love this site! There is something rewarding about helping others and being able to get answers all at one place. The best part is 99% of both is good intentioned and actually fairly helpful! So a big thanks to all! Now, onto the "HELP???" part! I have stayed away from a lot of unhealthy…

To Crawl or not to Crawl?
So the question I have isn't really a question, it's more a needing to be swayed one way or another. Next Saturday is a local "pub crawl" in a town near me. A lot of friends are going and this is an event I have never been able to go to since my schedule for work never has worked in my favor before. I've wanted to go…

Question about sweeteners?
I have read a bit about aspartame, splenda, tru via, and pruvia and have some questions. I cut out all aspartame out of my diet, or so i thought due to the 92 side effects I read about it. (just found out it was in my Fiber One cereal also, but that's another story). I was drinking Sobe Zero Lifewater till I found out it…

Treadclimber by Nautilus
So today was my first day of exercise after two months of getting myself into a nutritional balance with the food end of things. I only made it a little more than 10 minutes. The goal was 10 minutes, but when I saw how close I was to .50 mile, I made that a stretch goal. My heart rate was 177 by a minute or so in and by…

100% Whey Protein
I need some advice on Whey protein. I bought a 5 lb container of Optimum Nutrition 100% whey protein for a recovery drink after working out. I plan to eat a good breakfast, work out, drink the drink, and then go shower and get ready for work. Is this type of protein good as a recovery? I won't be able to make anything…

Questions about exercise and such????
So, tomorrow begins the next phase of my journey. At 5:45am EST I will be starting out with my Nautilus Treadclimber. I used it last fall with some success. (lost 10 lbs in two weeks without modifying diet much). This time I am using MFP and have since 1/1/2011 been eating 1500 calories or less a day. Sodium has been kept…

Love MFP
On Jan 1st 2011 I weighed 315 lbs at 34 years old, 6'1"... Not good. Since then using MFP on my iPhone, iPad, and MacBook, I have been recording my intake every day. While I haven't started exercising yet (starting 3/1), I am all ready down to 277 lbs. This app is terrific! My goal for 3/1 was to be at 280 lbs.. Beat it…
