Spin/Cycle Question
I can't always make it to my gym's spin class (which I LOVE) but surely you have some suggestions for apps or videos that help me do a routine on my own, rather than just getting on and riding. Thoughts?

Suggestions for anemia
Hello! My last two bits of lab work have shown that I am anemic. I eat plenty of leafy greens and I eat beef 3-4 times per week but, as my doctor said, sometimes you just have to supplement. I know supplements can be tough (and constipating) on the system, but if you have suggestions, let me know. I am really hoping to get…

Starting to run / Hip flexor issue
Hello! I am just starting to do some run/walks after a long time away . . . and at about 30-35 pounds more than is healthy. I thought my knees would hurt but it's more my hip flexors. I plan to keep at it (run/walk every other day) but am open to feedback and advice about how to handle it. Thank you!

Acceptance and Vigilance
I just want to share out loud (virtually) part of what is hardest for me about losing weight. It's so hard to accept that I am a person who has to work really hard at this - that it itself is just such a huge bummer, when I think of all the people who DON'T have to work hard at it. But also, I really do have to stay…

Do you eat meat every day?
Hi there! I was never a vegetarian, but I hadn't been eating much meat for a while. Now that I'm counting calories, though, I find it an easy, measurable way to have protein. Does anyone here eat meat twice a day and still have weight loss success? I know, I know, it's calories in, calories out . . . but I'm still looking…

Cauliflower Love
Just had to share how much I LOVE LOVE LOVE cauliflower. I just roast the heck out of it in the oven (drizzled with a little olive oil and salt) and it's so satisfying to chew, and low in calories . . . YUM. That is all. : )

Food Scale Recommendations?
Just wondering what food scale you use - brand/model, etc. Thank you!

Losing Weight/Looking Older
Hello! Just curious about people out there over 35 who have lost weight. Do you feel you look older, even if you FEEL younger? I find myself worried about my neck and face aging.

Paying Attention to Dairy
Just curious about if you try to limit your dairy. It doesn't make me feel congested or anything, but I wonder if it hinders my weight loss, even if I'm staying within my calorie limit. I rely quite a bit on hard-boiled eggs, 2% Fage plain Greek yogurt, an occasional bowl of cereal or oats with milk. And I eat 2% yogurt…

Avocado Question
There are so many various listings for the calories in an avocado. I also researched online a bit. How do YOU count them?

Really Need Meal/Snack Ideas!
I find that keeping track of calories here is helpful, but I think I need even more structure. At this point, I'd like to try avoid white flour and refined sugar, and really want to just eat whole, nutrient-rich foods. I am finding it tough to feel full. I'd love meal and snack ideas, including a few that are sort of…

Salad dressing ideas?
I often want to eat a huge salad (I'm talking a basic salad full of various greens, tomatoes, carrots, etc.) but get stuck when it comes to a tasty dressing that's not super high in calories. I don't want a bottle of chemicals, either. I'd love to hear suggestions for homemade dressings or other alternatives. Thanks in…

Polar Heart Rate Monitor Battery Life
The battery on my Polar heart rate monitor just petered out. Doesn't seem like it lasted that long. Anyone else experience this? (Also, as long as I'm here - I know I can look this up on Polar's website but - are batteries easy enough to purchase?)

How Long Does it Take . . .
to feel like I can run three miles again? I was fine in the spring all the way through June, but then barely exercised in July and August and September. I went for a run yesterday and was SO out of breath. (And of course I'm heavier than I was, so there's more to carry around, and I even felt it in my left knee.) I know I…

workout time of day
I generally work out after I teach, so, late afternoon or dinner time/ early eve. I wish I could make myself get up and out in the wee hours of the morning but I can set the best of intentions and, when the alarm goes off, I just hit snooze. Especially when it's chilly here in New England! Any success stories with this?…

Out of ideas
You know, I've done MFP before (about two years ago) and it felt really hard for the first two weeks to stay within my 1200-calorie limit. Now I have 1310 calories, but no matter what, I am always so short on calories! I do exercise but not every day, and those days are really hard. I feel discouraged that I had two tiny…

Personal Trainer app?
I'm in the middle of a big transition right now - new job, moving to a new place, etc. I do have access to a gym but my schedule is a little too crazy (and money a little too tight with moving costs) to hire a personal trainer. Can anyone recommend an app that might give my workout time a little kick and some structure?

Whole Milk Yogurt
Oh my goodness, I am really into whole milk yogurt these days. I know it's more calories and fat, but WOW, is it ever satisfying, and I think it 'lasts' longer in my system (I don't get as hungry quite as quickly). Plus, it's less processed. Thoughts welcomed.

Almomd Milk vs. Regular Milk vs. Soy Milk

Spinning app or routines?
I will miss my spin class this coming Friday but I still want to spin. I know I can do it on my own, but wonder if anyone here likes an app or uses a YouTube video to lead them through a 30- or 45-minute spin routine. Suggestions welcomed!

Hope for triceps?
I am pretty faithful about strength training, but I have to say . . . I have almost no hope for ever seeing definition in my triceps. I see it in my shoulders (love that!) and biceps and calves and quads . . . but I think the triceps will always just be a bit "loose" and move around a bit, even when I'm at my goal weight.…

Target heart rate?
Using the formula I have found online, it says my target heart rate low is 88, and high is 132. That seems really low to me. When I run, my heart rate ranges from 140-175.

Please remind me
... that the scale doesn't always reflect what the week's behavior has been. I've been really vigilant about calories, cardio, and strength training this week, but five days after my last weigh-in, I am showing a 1.4-point gain. I know logically that it is okay and my numbers will catch up but it's hard not to feel…

Best Heart Rate Monitor?
The subject line pretty much says it all - I'm in the market for my first HRM and would love reviews/recommendations! Thanks a bunch in advance.

RunKeeper Calories Burned
So, I know this has been discussed before but . . . RunKeeper can't really tell me the calories burned, right? I assume this is because yes, it knows my weight, but it doesn't know the topography of my run. I was downhill at times and breathing easily, but then I hit Heartbreak Hill (yes, I live on the Boston Marathon…

Fruit and veggie calories . . .
When I look something up in the MFP database for foods like honeydew melon and avocados, I see so many different caloric values. How do you know which one to use? Do you have another resource on the web for finding out how many calories are in fruit and veggies?
