running shoe problem....
I got into running last year and got fitted at a running store. I ended up with Brooks GTS 12's and they fit like a glove. They were very comfortable and I didn't have any problems. When it came time to get new shoes this year, I decided to stick with the Brooks GTS brand because I knew that my feet liked them. I got the…

last week!
Starting week 9 tomorrow, I haven't had to slow to a walk or repeat a day yet, so I'm hoping not to start now. I have quite a gap between finishing this program and my first 5k. My 5k is June 17th. Would you guys just continue to run week 9 over and over until the 5k?

running app???
I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to running apps. As my Couch to 5K comes to an end, I'm looking for an app in which I can put in the distance that I want to run and one that gives me a notification as to when to stop or turn around. Is there anything like that out there? (I basically want to run 5k every time I go out to…

hey everyone!
I've been blabbing about C25K in the forums but just found this group today. This is the best thing that's happened to me fitness wise. I just finished Week 7 yesterday and am gearing up for week 8 on sunday. I signed up for my first 5k on Father's Day. I have never been able to run more than a minute straight and now I'm…

my fat is getting squishy!
As I've been back into the swing of working out and eating right(got back on the horse about 7 weeks ago), I've recently started to notice my love handles go from rock hard to being very soft and squishy. I'm assuming this is a good thing? Is that what happens?

achy knees....
So I've been doing couch to 5k and killing it. I finished week 7, run 1 this past sunday and felt great afterwards. Yesterday all afternoon at work my knees were real achy. I wouldn't describe it as pain. I have never felt this before. I did week 7, run 2 last night when I got home from work. During the warm up walk they…

For all the Couch to 5k'ers or people thinking about it...
I've never been able to run for more than a minute or so without huffing, puffing, then quitting. I just finished week 6 of this program.... and I finished the last run (25 min, no walking breaks) without any difficulty at all. There is a mental barrier in this program at some point for everyone, I broke through mine last…

branched chain amino acids?
I'm currently doing couch to 5k and am coming into the longer runs with no breaks. I finished my first 20 minute run, but barely. It's not that I'm out of breath, it's that my legs started to crap out around the 15 minute mark. The runs only get longer from here. A friend suggested that I try taking an amino acid…

bicep/tricep blues
I've been working out since February pretty regularly and do bicpeps and triceps once a week (occasionally twice a week). I've noticed that when I flex, my arms are definately harder and a little bigger. BUT, when at rest, they don't appear to have changed at all. In fact, they still appear skinny and if I hold my arm out…

dal!
My brother in law who is from Sri Lanka was in town this past weekend and he cooked up a storm. I'm hooked on dal now and plan on trying to make it myself. My question is, is it good or bad for you?

thai food?
I'm at work and didn't bring my lunch today. I am going with the usual lunch order outers and they are doing thai. I'm going to get the green curry chicken. Is that terrible for you? I have no idea if it's okay for you, just a little bad or flat out bad!

ouch!
I used to play basketball regularly before I went inactive alltogether. But I've been hitting the gym regularly working pretty much all the muscle groups. I decided to get back to playing because I enjoyed it so much. I played on saturday and sunday this past weekend. I was worried about my cardio playing full court, but…

too much milk?
Is there such a thing as drinking too much milk? Since I've completely changed my crap eating habits, I've been drinking a lot of skim milk. I vitrually cut pop out completely, and I drink a ton of water throughout the day. So at meal times I usually have a big ol glass of skim milk. I'd say I probably drink 3-4 glasses a…

eating after a workout
I am always STARVING after I get home from a workout. I always end up eating a really big meal afterwards, is that okay? It's never junk. For example, yesterday I got home after a hard workout and ate a piece of baked chicken breast and a large bowl of whole wheat pasta. Should I eat less?

not sore = not a good workout?
I remember I used to get really sore after working out, but I haven't been getting sore at all. I will destroy my arms and chest to exhaustion and then either not be sore or am barely sore at all the next day. I'm confused by this...

shoe question!
I know absolutely nothing when it comes to running shoes. I know finding the right shoe is essential to running, any tips? I wear a size 15 and have flat feet (although I just got orthotic inserts, which have helped a ton!). Are trail running shoes okay to use on the treadmill?

FIBER!
I have been counting calories like crazy but only recently started monitoring my fiber intake. I've found that a high fiber diet is sooooo important when it comes to weight loss. I am not eating nearly as much. Big ups to Quaker Fiber & Omega 3 bars, they are awesome!

shoulder pain....
Hey All, I'd like to start by saying that I have never had a single issue with either of my shoulders, ever. I've been on the workout wagon for about 2 months now and everything has been going great. I decided to mix up my tricep workout last night because I had kind of hit a wall as far as development went. I decided I'd…

do you find it harder to....
Do you find it harder to find motivation to go and workout or to eat right?

help me with my workout routine!
I had fallen off the wagon in regards to both nutrition and working out. About a year ago I had signed up on here and lost 10 pounds. Luckily for me, I maintained that weight and have lost an additional 10 since coming back. So I currently sit at 254 pounds and want to be near my goal of 230 by June. The difference for me…

my favorite lunch
I thought I'd share my favorite lunch idea that I've recently discovered: Get a tortilla, spread some hummus on it, add some chopped baked or grilled chicken breast, sprinkle on some low fat shredded mozarella cheese. Fast, easy and delicious!

what's for lunch!?!
I am new to this site and watching what I eat. Just wanted to know what everyone is having for lunch so I can get some nutritious ideas for the future. I just ate some grilled chicken breast with a piece of provolone cheese on top, some fat free cottage cheese and water.

i hate holidays
This past weekend absolutely killed and derailed me! Barbeque's and margarita's were everywhere! Anyone else splurge this weekend?

brand new with a question!
Hey guys, I am new to the site and haven't ever really regularly worked out. I have radically changed my diet and cut out all of the fast food and sweets. My big question is this, if I run on the treadmill at the gym my knees really start to ache. However, I can walk briskly on an incline with no problems. Is walking…

steam rooms and sauna's
After I work out I always like to hit the steam room, it is relaxing. My question is, are there any health benefits to using them?

my boss made my day
I started this whole process 2 weeks ago. My boss was on vacation for the past 10 days. Today he comes in and the first thing he says to me is "Are you losing weight? Your face looks thinner." My day has officially been made.

going out to dinner, help!
My wife and I are going out for her birthday this friday. We are going to a fondue place. I'm stoked because I've never had fondue before, but I've been doing so well eating I'm kinda freaked. I was looking at the menu, I figure I could stick to the seafood (scallops, lobster, shrimp and throw in some chicken). Just how…
