New to the group!
Giving a big shout out to everyone in the group. This is the first group I've joined (I think) on MFP. I've been actively logging and participating on MFP for the past 9.5 months. It's been a wonderful tool in my weight loss tool box and is definitely been part of my success in losing 98 lbs thus far. Cheers! Scott

Back after an extended 8 month absence.
I'm a professional weight loss roller coaster rider. For some reason I seem to enjoy dropping a hundred plus lbs and putting it all back on in the same amount of time it takes to get it off. Kind of like one of those roller coasters that stop on a dime and starts going in reverse. Anyways, no excuses from me. I'm glad to…

1 year of daily logging on MFP...I'm such a loser!
This weekend marks 1 full year of logging in and logging my food every single day. I downloaded the app a couple of years ago, however, after a couple of false starts, wasn't consistent. I decided to really give it a shot a year ago this weekend and have found this format a very useful tool in helping me along in my battle…

Does the success of others hinder or motivate you?
I've been wondering lately if any of the folks on my friends list are actually discouraged by the progress I've made and posted about this last year. What I mean is that can reading and following someone else's progress and success be a stumbling block to you if you're not experiencing a similar level of progress?

MFP is the best diet out there!
I know it's not a diet, it's a lifestyle, errr, it's a journey ;-)

Back on the bandwagon...
My updated profile pretty much tells where I'm at. I love the MFP app. Very easy to use and a must (calorie accountability) for someone like me who wants to lose a lot of weight.

I discovered the secret to losing weight.102lbs in 10 mos
I very seldom even eat back half of the additional calories I burn through exercise. That practice has kept me within my daily caloric goals for 299 out the previous 300 days of logging. However, getting that exercise allows me the freedom to eat WHATEVER I want, just not WHENEVER or as MUCH as I want. This process has…

115 lbs down at Disneyland. ..
So, last year I did Disneyland on a trip to S. Cal. I was so fat I had a hard time walking the park because of extreme back pain, not to mention I had a difficult time squeezing onto most thrill rides. So much so I experienced anxiety just standing in line wondering if I would fit into the seat. Well, 11 mos. later and 115…

New to resistance bands. Any suggestions?
After losing 105 lbs thus far I'm ready to start additional exercise to my routine. I pretty much walk daily for exercise and that's it. One caveat is that I'm going back on the road again in a semi-truck. I will be on the road a few days a week. My cab is pretty roomy on the inside. So, I have room to lay a mat on the…

I celebrated 100 lbs lost this morning by...
...going for an 8 mile walk. I reached a major milestone this morning. Yes, that's right ladies & gents, I reached the 100 lbs lost plateau! YAY for me ;-) 9.5 months of hard work, commitment and dedication paid off. Still have a ways to go (35 lbs to goal) and then maintain over the long haul, however, this is a major…

I celebrated 280 days of logging, diet & exercise...
...by walking 7 straight miles and riding my bike 4 miles this morning. Why, you ask? Just because I could. Nine months ago I couldn't walk from the parking lot into the store without my back killing me and being short of breath. I'm down 97 lbs in these last 9 months and I'm damn proud of myself! ;-) No fancy macro micro…

Fitbit stats for July...
Now this isn't that impressive compared to some, however, considering the fact that 9 months ago I couldn't walk from the parking lot into and around the store without my back killing me with shortness of breath, it's not too shabby. My fitbit stats for July: 256,430 steps, 123.45 miles walked, 98,747 calories burned, 10…

NSV in a box...
I was cleaning and organizing my garage the other day and found some nice sport pants in a box that I hadn't worn since a trip to Mickeyland around 12 years ago. I held them up and looked at them and my mind said, "those look way too small." Guess what? I put them on and they fit!!! :-) I realized how psychologically my…

Regaining my health & fitness
What a gift our health is. It's a battle for many of us to achieve it and then maintain it to the best of our ability. Food for me has been like crack or any other debilitating drug or vice used to mask and deal with issues in my life over the years. The results are devastating. Obesity is a cruel task master... Now that…

Don't give up!
A little over 8 mos I was so fat and out of shape I could hardly push a cart through the grocery store without my back and knees killing me. I was so sick of being like that. Today I'm down 88 lbs (47 lbs to goal) and am getting back into shape... I love to walk, hike & ride bike, something I couldn't do much of the last…

I've lost 45 lbs in 3 months on this special diet!
By eating whatever I "choose" to eat, keeping and daily logging EVERYTHING I put in my mouth and getting in some modest to moderate exercise a few times a week, I managed to lose 15 lbs a month from 10/21/13 to 01/21/14. MFP set up my daily caloric needs at 2,190 a day at the start for a projected 2 lb per week loss. It's…

Fitbit flex vs. MapMyWalk
I walked a few miles this morning. I used both my Fitbit flex wristband and MapMyWalk app on my cell phone. I compared the readings at the conclusion of the walk and Fitbit calculated me walking over 10% farther than MapMyWalk. One of them is incorrect. I suspect it's a little of both...

Down 85 lbs in 35 weeks...

Study: People lost more weight drinking diet soda...
I knew it! All the people on here trash talking diet soda. "Makes you crave sugar...It's poison...Causes you to bloat..." blah, blah, blah. This study PROVES that diet soda drinkers lose more weight on average than those who just drank water while dieting. Case closed! Stop trash talking diet soda! I love Diet Pepsi and…

I wagered that I could lose 10%...
...of my body weight in 6 months on healthywage.com. My wager was $150 and I am happy to report that I doubled my money by betting on me! This Tuesday will be my final verified weigh-in and I will have actually lost 17% of my body weight in 6 months. Since I'm still 50 something lbs within my goal weight, I'm thinking…

Had a pretty cool doctor visit recently...
Went in for a physical on Friday. My doctor was so pleased with the 75 lbs I've lost in the last 7 months. After spending some time going over my "special diet & weight loss plan" with him, he told me I inspired him to lose the 30 lbs he's been wanting to lose for the past couple of years. Should I hold him accountable? ;-)

Fat people are discriminated against..
I'm convinced this is so. I've lost 75 lbs in the past 6 mos with another 60 lbs to goal. I have noticed a marked difference in the way my peers relate to me now and even how other people I don't know relate to me. It's sad, but unfortunately true.

I've now lost 65 lbs in 5 months on this special diet...
Some have have asked me to update my original post. So, here it is. By eating whatever I "choose" to eat, keeping and daily logging EVERYTHING I put in my mouth and getting in some modest to moderate exercise when I can, I've managed to lose 65 lbs in a little over 5 months. The weight loss pace has slowed somewhat the…

140 days of logging in and special diet...
So, I've been at this for 140 days now. That's what, 4.66 months? Although that's a good jump start, it's really not that long of time in the whole scheme of things. Yet, the progress one can make in that short period of time is pretty amazing when I compare to where I was at the end of October last year. I've lost now…

Down 51 lbs in 3.75 months!
This is an update on a previous post I made called, "I've lost 45 lbs in 3 months on this special diet". Of course, my "special diet" comment was a sarcastic jab at all the gimmicky and sometimes high priced diets out there today. I think I turned off some people by the title and they just ignored it ;-) By eating whatever…

MapMyWalk app
Okay, so for those of you that like to walk, MFP is sponsoring a free app called MapMyFitness. After going to their website, I discovered they have a lot of "MapMy"....whatever apps. One includes MapMyWalk. That one seemed to appeal to me more than the others. It is a cool app that works off your phone's GPS. The interface…

Changing my mind!
Yesterday I posted a synopsis of my last three months experience with weight loss, exercise, etc. One of the things I said was that I'm tired of making excuses for being fat and that I'm having to retrain my mindset and attitude from "I CAN'T" to "I CAN!" With that, the following is something I read online written by a…

Thanksgiving Day Plan...
I love Thanksgiving Day and all the FOOD that comes with it. However, I recognize that my usual 5,000 calorie plus consumption on that day isn't a good idea :-) I've decided to use this guide for the average calories in most of the servings we enjoy on that day. My plan is to just keep my caloric intake the same as what…

Fitbit monitor?
I joined TOPS this week. Only $29 a year. I figured any additional support I can get during the week can't hurt. So, whether I like it or not, I have to scale once a week at the meeting ;-) I'm also thinking of buying a Fitbit wristband monitor. Anyone use one of those?
