Trifecta Paleo Meals
Hello everyone! I recently converted to Paleo (it's been one month now) and I have been eating 1200 calories and tracking everything as well as not eating my back my exercise calories because the weight was not budging. I started using a meal delivery plan called Trifecta and they send you precooked fresh meals and I do…

Iphone vs hiking claculator
My iPhone gives me 70 calories for hiking 6 miles (some very steep, some middling and some flat.) When I enter it into a hiking calculator, it gives me 1,000 calories burned. I know that some of the difference comes from bmr, but I have to do a hard 5 miles to get a measly 100 calories burned.

Anyone maintaining and still fasting?
I find that I got so much benefit from my fast days, including better control over my blood sugar (no more spikes and crashes) that I've wanted to keep one day of fasting in my eating plan. The only small problem is remembering that I can go over my maintenance calories on occasion to make up. I also find that I do better…

This has probably already been discussed
But thought I'd toss it out there just in case. http://ajcn.nutrition.org/content/early/2016/01/26/ajcn.115.119339.abstract?sid=78fc4efb-e348-43c3-9701-2a59be984e27

Ingredient-based food fears and avoidance.
Highlights • A survey of 1008 US mothers reveals patterns in ingredient food fears. • Fears can be stronger with ingredients associated with less nutritious foods. • Fears can be lessened if the history and function of ingredient are communicated. Abstract This study investigates food fears that are ingredient-based,…

What's the worse thing you DIDN'T eat pre-MFP
Mine was protein. And I even ate the bare minimum MFP recommends when I started, because I didn't know how beneficial protein is for satiety and health. Oh, and ice cream. Just because you jerks are always going on about how great it is.

Bill to ban Connecticut Childcares from serving whole milk.
A new bill making its way through the Connecticut legislature would ban daycare centers and home childcare providers from serving whole milk or 2% milk to the kids in their care. Setting aside for a moment the sheer lunacy of the proposed law's premise, I'd like to point out that it's also based on an incredibly faulty…

Intense heel pain
OK, so it started out with a sore heel. I kept running, because sometimes these things sort themselves out with time. Suddenly it became intense on my last run, and now I can hardly walk. Needless to say, some serious time off is warranted. I suspect that going with a less expensive version of my usual running shoe had a…

Review of Dietary Protein During Caloric Restriction
I don't know if this has already been posted, but I thought I would throw it out there. I admit I was surprised at the conclusions (not surprised that protein requirements were higher than normally recommended, but surprised at just how high the recommended amount was.…

Anyone want to guess MY body fat percent?
Feel free to creep my photos. My profile pic is the most recent. According to my calipers, I've dropped a couple mm of measurement since then though. I'm planning on doing a 7 point caliper test this weekend.

Hormone replacement therapy and water weight gain
Hello all! 2 weeks ago, I started a hormone replacement therapy program that includes estrogen, progesterone and testosterone, all under my doctor's care. The estrogen and progesterone are a cream, and the testosterone is an injection (100mg every 6 weeks). Although I feel incredible, I quickly 'gained' back my hard won 5…

Hip flexor PAIN
Oh my goodness. I'm fairly sure this is muscle related, and has something to do with the fact that it has been 10 years since I ran any serious mileage or done any serious stretching. I've done everything I can think of - new shoes (I've had a stride analysis) looong warm-up (1 mile) with stretching and loooong cool down…

Halp!! Won't track sleep!
After tapping away at it last night, I finally got it to do the two lights fading out indicating it was going into sleep mode. Logged on this am to find no sleep had been tracked (I did set it up for sleep tracking last night). Any tips or suggestions? Thanks!

Anyone else break a sweat just thinking about exercising?
I'm sitting here, trying to get out the door for a run. And I'm sweating my buns off because I'm actually love running and can't wait. I find the second I start to think about a workout, I break a sweat. Anyone else?

Darn it. Shin splint.
Argh! I knew I needed new shoes, but just no money in the budget right now. So my body did the right thing (I guess) and I got a shin splint. It's pretty low and to the inside of my left tibia - I am a pronator. Very painful and some swelling! I've decided to side line myself until I can get some new shoes - I asked…

Anyone else find that stevia decreases their appetite?
About 2 weeks ago I started a new whey isolate supplement that contains stevia as a sweetener. Not particularly a fan of stevia, I agreed to give it a try because I have such a hard time with sucralose, and many other sucrose alternatives (IBS). I still can't say I totally love the taste, but I have found that I am far…

Sharing a trick for helping tight calves
I have about 3 pairs of these (check 'em out on Amazon) and they are a lifesaver for tight calves. I wear them around the house and do easy stretches during the day. By the time I'm ready to go for a run my calves are all ready warmed up and reasonably loose. They have them in lots of swell colors too.

Protein powders with no added fake sugars?
Every fake sweetener out there (including Stevia) messes with my stomach big time. The sugar alcohols - forget it. Sucralose - the worst. Anyone have any recommendations for a good plain protein powder? I'm not a big meat eater, and am having trouble hitting my protein macro. TIA:flowerforyou:

OMG I just got creeped on!

What is your favorite activity on fast days?
I'm so far finding my fast day a good one for puttering around the house, catching up on laundry etc.

Ugh. Zero lbs lost so far.
OK, so it's only been a week of 5:2, but seriously?? It's hard to be hungry and not see any results at all. I swear, this time around these lbs are being a B&@$#!! to get off!

Waist-to-Height ratios / BMI + calculator
What do you guys and gals think of this calculator? http://home.fuse.net/clymer/bmi/ I like it, because I can add my age and sex and thus perhaps get a better idea. It gave me a really low body fat though - 14.5% (female age 48). I'm not certain this is very accurate - I think I am higher, and have calculated as much…

Am I doing something wrong?
I feel like I've been hungry and sore for 2 months now, and have only lost a couple of pounds at most. I haven't lost anything off my hips and only 1 inch off my waist. :noway: I'm doing the Tracy Anderson mat method and walking, and faithfully logging everything that goes into my mouth. I usually go over my protein and…
