Question RE:calories vs. awake time
Does the amount of calories vary for those who are awake less hours vs those who are up for more? For instance, Im usually awake by 4 am and to bed by 10 pm. Do I need more calories vs someone who is up at 8am and to bed by 9pm? TY :)

I dug out my old jeans yesterday

Activity question
If I walk 4 miles, fast pace, 4 to 5 times a week..would my activity level be lightly or moderately active? I dont work outside the home..I putt around doing housework and stuff. My stats are 201 lbs, 5ft 2 inches and 45 yr old..TIA!!!!! (I just want be sure Im eating the right amount of calories )

315lbs to 201lbs..not quite done yet
Id like to lose 30 lbs more , ideally. Im 5 ft 2 1/2 inches tall. Started in March 2014 by simply counting my calories and now, lots of walking. :)

Hi! Im 5 ft 2 and my starting weight was 315lbs..I am now down to 204. Been since March 2014. Im on a mini plateau right now (about a month) and I have 40lbs more Id like to drop :) Hugs, Marla

Metabolism question
Is there a way one can tell if they have successfully sped up their metabolism? And if one lost a significant amount of weight, is it an automatic conclusion that they have sped up their metabolism? TY!

walking outside vs treadmill
I do 3 miles on the treadmill at 3mph or a little more for an hour. I went outside and walked 2.7 miles at a good clip and Im more tired doing that..Its mainly flat with a few little inclines..do you think I burned more calories walking outside? My legs certainly got more tired (it was entirely on hot top).

Question about being under weekly goal
Right now, I am 1600 cal under my weekly goal. If I stay in my calorie allotment tomorrow, does that mean I have 1600 calories to use how I want on Saturday plus the calories Im allowed on saturday? (Im going to a birthday party at a bar...lol)

From a local mom and pop place..veggie calzone, no cheese just sauce..its huge..I ate half..I guessed 600 calories..is that even close?

Sendentary, lightly active?
I do not work outside the home. I walk almost every day and I do housework and sometimes sit to go on the computer/watch tv. I do laundry, vacuum, dishes.do groceries etc. I basically putter around. What activity level should I choose?

Crap.... sweet potato..
should have looked at the calorie count of the one I baked before I ate it. I had a large one for lunch (685g) and half a baked butternut squash for lunch. 617 calories alone for the baked sweet potato! Blah. Not much room for anything else for the rest of the day.

One dumb question, coming up!
Does your BMR vary if you are hot or cold? What I mean is, if you are sweating while doing nothing in 100 degree heat or you are freezing while doing nothing outside at 0 degrees..does your BMR change? Do you burn more during one or the other? Does shivering or sweating play a role?

How do you measure calories in something with a lot of ingredients? Such as casseroles..salads..soups? I found a recipe for chickpea salad but there's quite a bit of ingredients.. just guesstimate?
