Super filling breakfast pizza!
I made this pizza last night and it was SO good. My DH normally eats 4-5 slices of pizza, and he ate just one of this pizza. It's that filling. Crust: 2 c. whole wheat flour (I used white whole wheat) 1 pkg. or 1 tbsp. active dry yeast 3/4 tsp. salt 1 c. warm water 1 tbsp. olive oil 1 tsp. honey or brown sugar Stir all…

THIS IS SO GOOD. Creamy Curry Soup
I made this for dinner Saturday night along with tuna-sweet potato patties. I was blown away by this soup...it's thick, rich, and creamy, but fairly low cal too. You could sub milk for the half and half if you wanted; I didn't because I wanted the thick creamy texture. Do not omit the olive oil! You need it to make the…

Strength training, no cardio?
So, I hate cardio. Haaaaate. It bores me to death in any form. On the weekends, I enjoy taking my kid for a walk, but that's the most I really want to do. However, I enjoy various types of strength training. Would it be reasonable to focus on strength training and not worry about cardio? Will I eventually be able to…

Yummy yummy 100 calorie dessert
If you have 100 calories for dessert, which would you rather have....a 100 calorie pack of chocolate-flavored cardboard cookies, or... Cheesecake Filled Strawberries. 100 calories will give you 3-5 of them, depending on how you make them. 1lb fresh strawberries 8oz reduced fat cream cheese, softened to room temp 3-5 tbsp…

Chicken & Mashed Potatoes in a Garlic White Wine Sauce
I had some ingredients I wanted to use up and so I came up with this for dinner tonight. It was so tasty I had to share! Ingredients: Seasoning salt Poultry seasoning Garlic powder 2 cups vegetable or chicken broth (optional) Dash of white wine (optional) 1.25lb chicken breast 1 tbsp butter 1 tsp olive oil 4 cloves garlic,…

Easy, Cheap & Healthy--Homemade Vegetable Broth
At least half my recipes call for some form of broth or bouillon. If you've ever taken a closer look at store-bought broth or bouillon, most of it is loaded with sodium and chemical additives. Striving for a cleaner style of eating, I learned to make my own vegetable broth. I've discovered how ridiculously easy and cheap…

Faaaaake
I used to be a huge lover of Yoplait yogurt. Several months ago I started trying to eat cleaner and cut out processed stuff from my diet. This morning I went to grab groceries and Yoplait was on sale. I grabbed it, remembering how tasty it was, and had one with lunch. It just plain tasted FAKE. No other way to describe it.…

This really TICKS ME OFF.
So I generally do clothes shopping at the Salvation Army. I have a toddler who outgrows a size a month so there's no sense in spending a ton of money on clothes for him. And I don't want to spend much money on clothes during my weight loss. Anyway, I have to shop the plus size section. Grr. And you know what? Their plus…

Greek yogurt in hot cereal?
So I have a recipe for a hot breakfast cereal that I want to try. Would it be weird to mix greek yogurt into it? I was thinking it might give it a creamy consistency but I don't know if it would taste weird. Thoughts?

Question about calorie goal and zigzagging
MFP has me set to 1500 cal/day for a 1.5lb/week loss. I would like to try calorie zigzagging so I found a calculator and it told me to eat between 1696-2136 for weight loss. Why is there such a discrepancy? My activity level is the same on MFP and the calculator (sedentary). Thoughts?

Guiltless Italian Barley Lentil Soup
Make sure you buy your lentils at a place with good turnover so they haven't been sitting on the shelf for years. I love this soup, it's so quick and easy, very filling, and low in calories. Chop the veggies and combine everything in the crock pot the night before so that you don't have to do any prep in the morning.…

Put down the Panera bagel!
Carbs are my weakness. I eat them in moderation but I crave them like many people crave sweets. And so, a rep brought in cinnamon swirl bagels from Panera. With honey walnut cream cheese. I was in love. And then I got about 1/3 of the way through it, and realized that as delicious as it was, it was just too sweet and rich…

Healthy Eating when Sick
Over the weekend I got a pretty nasty cold. I had planned to exercise, but I just had no energy, so I didn't do it. I'd like to know who continues to follow a reduced calorie plan while sick, and who eats more than that? I decided to listen to my body and eat what I was craving, as I've read that the body needs extra fuel…

Reducing caloric intake during weight loss
Currently I have my daily calorie goal set to 1500 per day, which should give an approximate 1.4lb/week loss. I have actually been losing about 1.8lb/week in the 2 weeks I've been using MFP. My question is, would it be better to: A. Continue doing what's obviously working, eating 1500 calories until my loss slows…

Getting a motorcycle =)
Hubby is getting a new motorcycle and I am going to learn how to ride his old one, a red and black Ninja. I'm really excited and nervous lol. I took the written test to get a motorcycle permit this morning and it was HARD but I passed it! Anyway I'm looking for a helmet. I want something that's good quality but still…

Talk to me about zumba
I noticed that there's a zumba center near my house. I'm kind of interested in going to a class, but I'm super nervous. I have social anxiety, and so I have to know what to expect. I'm pretty overweight and horridly out of shape. What would a zumba class be like? What would I wear? How would I know what to do? Is it easy…

Heart rate monitor = money well spent!
I finally spent the money to get a used Polar FT5 heart rate monitor. That sucker is FANTASTIC. I love getting my actual calories burned instead of estimating. For example, this weekend I took my son on a long walk. MFP estimated the calories at 182, but I actually burned 312. It's great to have a definite number!

Yummy smoothie
I have this smoothie most mornings for breakfast. Take 1/2 cup frozen berries and thaw in microwave for about 20 seconds. Add 1/2 cup spinach leaves (sounds gross, I know, but just try it!), 1/4 cup plain nonfat yogurt, and some skim milk. You can also add your favorite protein powder or shake mix (I use a 1/2 scoop of…

Giving up soda
So, I try to eat clean. Whole grains, fruits and veggies, I cut almost all processed products out of my diet. The one thing I can't get rid of is soda. I have at least one a day. I get a big Diet Dr. Pepper with 4oz of regular Dr. Pepper mixed in. I know I need to kick the habit, but I can't seem to get there. I want to…

Weight Watchers vs. MFP: Healthy Oils?
I was on weight watchers briefly, and one concept they really pushed was healthy oils. You were supposed to work 2 tsp of certain oils (olive, canola, etc) into each day's menu. The theory, as I understand, was that people dieting often do not get enough healthy fats. Part of me wonders if I should be incorporating that…

How to get more protein?
I've always thought my diet included a healthy amount of protein. I was aiming for 40% protein, which is 150g, but today I've only had 60g. My food for the day is: Baby carrots .5 tbsp peanut butter 1 slice bread 1.5 homemade black bean enchiladas (with cheese and sour cream) 2 servings of 2-bean soup with kale 1 glass of…

Ready for a Lifestyle Change
Hi, my name is Rachel, and I'm here because I'm ready to change my life. I am 21 years old, 5'7", and 216lb. I have been overweight all my life. I was raised on Dr Pepper, Taco Bell, and Kraft mac n cheese. Add emotional eating issues to the way I was raised, and it's no wonder that I have a weight problem. I've wanted to…
