Just sorted through my "goal" box of clothes that were too tight last month. I gained several new shirts and some pants to add to my current wardrobe!!24

Recently I've had a big breakthrough in my running. Until a few months ago I would only run 2 to 4 miles. Even when I ran 4 miles I always had to stop at the 2 mile mark to give my legs a break for 5 or 10 minutes. Now I can run 7 or 8 miles without stopping or even slowing down. My pace has improved too. I've gone from running 11 minute miles to 9 minute miles. I can even run the first mile or two in 8 minutes!
Also, I'm very close to my second anniversary of being on this site. And I'm less than a month away from being off the diabetes drug, Metformin, for two whole years.
Life is so GOOD!52 -
Sorted through my closet and got rid of all the 'too big' clothes. The quantity of clothes left is a sad sad sight. But, it's all well combinable. I realized that I don't need to go shopping (already bought 2 dresses not long ago and still have enough jeans and blouses to put myself together). In the past, that would have been an excuse to go blow a few hundreds on clothes to compensate for my lack of self-esteem (after all, people will look at me weird if I wear the same outfits more than once within a month... right?)20

This morning, I headed to bathroom for my daily weigh-in, noticed in the mirror my abs are showing even though I was relaxed and not even flexing my belly. It was a good moment31

I had surgery in December, and was cleared for exercise in January. I reset my Fitbit step goal to be more realistic for me, starting back at 3500. As soon as I hit that 10 times, I increased my goal by 500. As I kept hitting goals, I kept increasing by 500 for awhile, and then 1000.
Today, I realized I have finally "earned" my daily goal of 10,000 steps in a day! Happy dances add steps and burn calories!! I'm going to keep trying to increase my goal, too!39 -

I can't do this . . . I don't have any clothes that are too small for me anymore as I'm smaller than I've ever been (including as a teenager). I have to alter the ones that are too big now

That's an awesome NSV, @Madwife2009
I have a few things that do fit but would still look fine if they were a bit looser, and maybe three pairs of pants that don't fit yet (still carrying a lot of belly fat). Other than that, there are only three "goal" dresses (four if I count my wedding dress) that should fit when I lose another 15lbs or so, and that's it. I'm definitely going to have to learn to alter my clothing. Hope I find a job soon, though, I really need a new bra!!5 -

My wedding dress is like a marquee on me now Luckily it was handmade (by me) and is very easy to alter, should I ever feel the need to wear it again (highly unlikely). Once I hit goal weight I shall have to try it on again, just because.

And take a photo of you drowning in it!
I deliberately chose a shorter style that I could dye a different colour and wear as a cocktail dress in the future, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it. (Besides which, we never went anywhere posh that I could wear it! ) After a couple of years or so it didn't fit anyway.4 -

Managed to do this today. It was gruelling but I feel as though I've achieved something
Had a really nasty "breeze" (read wind speed 15-20 mph) against me today. Started off sunny but very windy, but not bad enough to stop me so I carried on.
Going up a long hill, I had to drop down to bottom gear as cycling straight into a head wind. Really hard going but I carried on.
Got to the top of this hill ended up in a crosswind and had to lean into the wind just to stay upright Then I cycled around a hill (with an incline) so by the time I got to the junction in the road, I was really hot and sweaty. Yuck. Carried on to the HFH Part I and Part II.
Went shooting down a hill that leads into Part I of HFH - hit 35+mph. Left braking a little late and scared myself. Ooops. I'd love not to have to brake at all but the hill ends in a T-junction that's hard to see around so braking is a necessity
Dragged my sorry self up HFH Part I and then, without stopping, tackled Part II . . . very slowly indeed. The wind was not helping one bit, even though it was a crosswind. Leaning into the wind whilst going up a very steep hill is not easy. By this time the sun was hidden by clouds, I was cold and the clouds were threatening rain. Not a great combination and quite off-putting
Made to the top so decided to go around again. Which I did. Then the wind really picked up and I was struggling hugely.
Got to the top again but had to stop to catch my breath. Checked the time and found I'd knocked 10 minutes off my time for getting to that point. This felt great, so decided that today was the day for my "three times in one outing" target so off I went again. Hit 36+ mph on the way down to the bottom of Part I (this is a very short hill, so that's a wicked speed to hit).
Got to HFH Part I and the wind struck big time. Straight into my face, even breathing was difficult. This particular hill is made worse as it had steep banks on either side as well, so it acts like a wind tunnel. I did not think that I would still be cycling by the time I reached the top. However, I kept at it, even though it would have been quicker to walk (!). My legs were burning. Ouch.
Got to HFH Part II. I wanted to give up but as I was already there, and as I'd already done most of the ride, I set the bike up the hill and struggled on. Legs burning all the way.
But I made it. Very slowly, but I did it. Then turned around and flew down the HFH Part II. Was hoping to hit 40 mph but had to settle for 39.2 mph due to the wind.
Was it worth it? Yes, always. I love cycling, even in difficult conditions Not sure if that makes me sad or not, but I don't care. I get such a buzz from it, knowing that I am capable of achieving things I never thought possible 18 months ago. I can't wait to see what I'm capable of once I've lost the last bit of fat I want rid of and I've continued strength training. It's so exciting!19 -
I was running late this morning and really NEED to wear a belt now. Couldn't find it, so grabbed one in my closet I've never been able to wear. (No idea why I even have it / how and when I got it, really.)
I actually managed to wear it today. That was a nice, pleasant surprise. Plus my pants stayed up, so another win.24 -
Skinny jeans without a struggle to get into them23

Down a pant size!! I was convinced I would never lose weight at my age (63) so I got rid of all my "skinny" clothes. Had to go out and buy pants and some new tops. So excited to be down a size--actually between smaller sizes. In the past, I was always shopping for "larger" sizes. Good Bye Women's size!!!!26

Not sure if it's that I actually HAVE a NSV or that I fit into jeans that, 2 months ago, I couldn't even TRY to fit into.19

The last week has been tough. I've been dealing with something that is pretty difficult for me, even shocking. And I have noticed a feeling like being driven to eat -- a feeling I haven't had in over a year and now realize that it was something I experienced constantly before committing to my weight loss. And I have eaten for about 4-5 days. I continued to exercise and participate in my PT sessions, but I stopped logging and sticking to my food plans. I feel terrible. What's so different for me is that I can see what I am doing. And, last night I just said, "Enough" and threw out all the trigger things that I've been eating (and don't even like any more -- but it's not about "liking" in these situations anyway).
Today I don't necessarily feel victorious about much, but I do realize I am stopping something that could get out of hand. I am dealing with something I never dealt with before, something I never even realized was a thing to even deal with. Maybe with a few days of me being in control and sticking to my plans I'll feel a little better in this area of life at least. It's funny, isn't it, how we talk about "just logging" but, I guess, for some of us -- or me, at least -- it is so much more than that. Have a good day / coming week everyone!
Wow. Some of this is so ME. Thank you for writing this out so well! We can do this!!
