needing some help here re: heart healthy / low sodium
My husband recently had a triple bypass. They sent him home without diet restrictions, saying "just eat, you need to heal." A month later we've been back to the hospital twice with post-surgical complications, and he's now on diuretics. We've gotten all kinds of mixed advice by our medical professionals, from "just do what…

Total Carbs Vs Net Carbs
I am using a low carb method of weightloss. At the advice of my Dietitian (whom I requested because I am a transplant patient), I am avoiding over eating protein. She also suggested I allow myself more carbs than a standard strict Keto diet. For this reason I am using up to 50 Net Carbs. I wish that there was a way to see…

Do you use MFP’s protein goals or do you aim for more protein?
MFP has my protein goal for the day at around 90 grams. I’m 5’4”, CW 210lbs, 53F and I exercise vigorously for at least 30 minutes daily. I’m also a vegetarian. I’ve been just hitting my protein goals every day but I used a protein intake calculator someone on MFP recommended and it said I should aim for 115g of protein a…

How should I think about macros?
I’m a bit unsure of what my carb target actually means. For protein I’m trying to eat at least as much as my target. For fat I’m trying to stay below the target, so it’s more of a limit than a goal. Is my carb target per MFP a goal (I should try to eat at least that many carbs) or a limit (try not eat more than this many…
