Help me, please.

Hi! I am sick and tired of just "giving in," and feeling sorry for myself. I so badly want to lose weight, yet I make little to no effort and give in at the mere sight of temptation. I just want to cry and I am realizing that my body is NOT where I want it. Any help and support would be wonderful.

If you can get a copy from your library (or a bookstore), I recommend reading Dr. Yoni Freedhoff's The Diet Fix. It's one of the few books on weight loss that approaches the subject in terms of a lifestyle change that has to be satisfying in the long term, rather than band-aid fixes.

How did it say I deleted... I am still here Haha! And thank you for the help.0

First you need to decide that you want to change. Once you want it bad enough, you will be willing to make the changes you need. You need to learn that this doesn't have to include suffering and restriction of things you like. You need to learn moderation and portion control. You need to learn to use a food scale and weigh everything you eat so you can log it accurately and know exactly how many calories you are consuming. All of the tools are readily available, you just need to do it.0

I'll assume it's a bug based on the forum switch.
Definitely read the sexypants post linked above. I'd link some more but the search is weird now and I have to leave for work.0 -

None of the URLs (to MFP threads) work.
Must have something to do with the forum switch.
I can't even use the search function to find the original sexypants thread.0 -

No. They all say "site not found" and "Why am I seeing this?
The URL you entered doesn't really lead anywhere. Perhaps you mistyped it? Take a look and try again. If you think this site should exist, please check back in a few minutes or visit our Service Status for more information."

Possibly. I got into the Sexypants thread last night and starred it, but searching for So You're New Here gave me nada. Hopefully it won't be long before they repin everything.0 -

Yeah i have had that too!
In reply to the OP.... why not just see it as a gradual lifestyle change and make each day a new challenge, so you dont feel so pressured to change everything at once, soon each little thing will be come habit, and hey presto you will be there without realizing

Consistency is the hardest but most important part. You have to keep going. You have to let your "mature brain" be louder and stronger than your "monkey brain" that just wants to sit around and eat the world. There's a mental muscle that has to be trained just as hard and long as your physical muscles. And the only way it gets stronger is with use. You CAN do this.

Thank you all for the comments, the links do not work for me as well. AND I HOPE my account somehow reactivates. I can't get any friend requests accepted. Can someone try to send me one to see if it works?0

How odd. Your account shows up as active for me on my mobile device but as deactivated on the computer. This new forum update is going to give us a lot of mysteries!

They worked for me when I posted yesterday - I double-checked. My guess is that the old forum database was still up then, and it was taken down since.
Ah - a quick bit of looking at the URL structure showed me how they've changed things. Here's a new link for the Basics post:
http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/819925/the-basics-dont-complicate-it/p1
Old URLs can be converted to new by changing www.myfitnesspal.com to community.myfitnesspal.com, replacing /topics/show/ with /en/discussion/ before the number, and changing the dash between the number and the thread title to a /. For the first page, add /p1 at the end.
