Not even one spam link?
Forum feedback thread on the Suggestions site, for anyone who gives a hoot about the repeated requests from the flaggers to keep this a spam flagging thread. Forum Admin Olivia reads it and responds and updates there regularly:
http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10063124/mfp-forum-feedback/p1
I read that thread and the months and months of responses that something was in the works. I read the open acknowledgement by the staff that it is this group of people who are responsible for clearing spam, that it would be a mess without you guys. Kudos. I genuinely appreciate it despite my statements here. It makes my experience better. I don't have to do anything; you guys coordinate efforts in here, go through the process of flagging, pasting links, all on your own time.
This thread was created in October 2014. Since then, MFP was acquired by Under Armour and added the Premium revenue stream. Olivia's response on why sensible people verification procedures and/or waiting periods to post is essentially that we can't have more than 2 items in the pipeline? The only way this becomes a priority is if the spam degrades the user experience. Yet that will never happen; not because MFP invests more resources to solve the problem, but because of coordinated flagging efforts by (unpaid) members. Criminy! They could at least throw you guys a free Premium account for your efforts!
ETA: So yeah, as the intended audience is the flagging community, I'm in the correct thread already.0 -

I believe the issue is with Vanilla, the forum provider, and not MFP. Regardless, I too would prefer to keep the debate in the forum feedback. Vanilla needs to step up their game when it comes to fixing issues. Maybe now that group search is fixed...0 -

My take away from his post is that he's intentionally thread crapping here because he can't be bothered to continue talking to Olivia on the forum feedback thread, so he would like us to stop coordinating spam busting so that the forum gets "overrun with spam" as someone so nicely put it, and gets forced to the top of the priority list. It's evidently not currently at the top so lets artificially put it there like a bunch of petulant kids who just must have their way NOW

Would you like to blame me for the state of your recipe tool, too? Really? Let me guess, I bet you don't have a single problem in your life or at your work place that has been going on for a year. I do appreciate the fact that you must be much better at Olivia's job than she'll ever be. Meanwhile some of us have chosen to be patient and bust some spam in the mean time. I have stated on here that I'm not going to change my mind about flagging spam, and so have a number of flagging participants. Perhaps you could give us some insight about your decision to be so disrespectful of that choice

I guess you missed the parts where I went out of my way to point out my intention to not be hostile or disrespectful and that my issue is with the process, not the flagging members. Again I would say, disagreeing with your strategy is not being disrespectful, and I believe I have explained my position in a respectful manner. If not, please point out where and I will certainly apologize (for the respect part, not my opinion).

Thank you. Since your previous post is still up, I will say that in my mind the hostility is coming not necessarily from your words, but your actions. We use the thread to efficiently identify and bust spam. Coming in here and scanning through things that aren't spam - yeah public forum and all that but sometimes it gets damn irritating and I feel the need to say something, even though that contributes to the stated problem of posting non-spam posts
Perhaps a "Please DON'T flag the spam" topic to be bumped each time you guys see this one?

I'd hate waking up to that many notifications that MFP still hasn't resolved the spam problem, let alone any other side comments, so I understand. Still, looking back over this thread, there are many instances of the flaggers discussing things unrelated to anti-spam efforts and I don't see this type of response directed towards those conversations. I didn't read the entire thing, so maybe I missed it.
In any case, I've no interest in creating an anti-flag thread to bump every time this one come up because that would occupy all my time in the forums, which is exactly my point; users should not have to devote their time to a concerted anti-spam campaign. I'll probably just pop in here from time to time to remind people that there is an opposing viewpoint to this strategy.0 -

It looks like all three pages of introduce yourself got cleaned up at once. I thought a mod might be on but the drft53 profile is still up and spamming.

I was #5 on several, but there are still a few posts out there. Plus since the user hasn't been banned they will keep posting.
