I know...I find it annoying since it's not taking it off the board just getting that pop up deal in the corner. I've seen 9 flags and the spam still up tonight... lol what happened to the 5? Let alone the new 3? Oh well, off to flag again Least I see I'm not alone now

It's nutty! I don't get
1) why the spambot originators think this strategy would yield more than an infinitesimal return on an English-language board, and
2) why it still can't be fixed when we can put a man on the moon! And print objects with printers! etc.0 -

Had to be careful as I was flagging not to get a legit post. Pretty bummed there's still no good solution to this mass spam. I was flagging for at least an hour and they keep coming. I think chocho60 still has some posts a little buried, btw. 0

I assume a spammer has adopted or hacked a staff members closed account?

Yes, it does.
Since the tech support here is lacking in that this platform's creators cannot seem to figure out how to block spammers in the first place, it only makes sense that the security may not be exactly top notch either.
May I respectfully suggest that fixing whatever loophole allowed this to occur becomes an urgent priority?
Before a hacker decides to simply delete the entire forum for *kitten* and jiggles?
On every forum platform that I've been an admin of, the admin account contains a "Delete This Forum" ability. Literally, a few clicks, accept the confirmation screen and poof - gone.
If a hacker managed to get even partial control of an account belonging to the top boss here who originally made that post (whose name I won't mention because hiding) - enough to grant them the ability to even change the display avatar on that account - this needs to be taken seriously.0 -
Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We're looking into what is going on here, but the account in question did not have any admin privileges nor is it connected in any way to a staff account, so no one needs to worry about the forums going poof. But by "we're looking into it," I mean people who actually work for MFP and get paid, so, you know, not me. But I wanted to let you all know that the right people are aware of the situation.
Perhaps this whole thing is just a demonstration of the awesome power of Babaji.

Just a trend I've noticed. I've now seen several threads that by the time I go to flag them, I get the "permission error" message and the spam is already being flushed. The efforts by people trying to be part of the solution such as @JaneiR36 IMO pay off fairly well. Great return on investment from the user base being involved. 10/10 Would report again.0

LOL. To be perfectly honest though, I haven't flagged a lot of spam recently. Alex did mention recently that MFP staff out of Denmark are now checking for spam regularly, including this thread.

I know some have given up hope, but I think the forum membership should be involved in being part of the solution.
The one you linked was gone by the time I hit the link a few hours later.
