Is there a way to language lock threads? This would eliminate at least some of the spam.

It is disappointing that MFP is allowing the forums to be once again over run with spam. There doesn't seem to be any efforts made to stop it.

From what I've been told, the current process still leaves staff, moderators and super flaggers removing spam for hours at a time sometimes each day. Without a proper solution, all it takes is for someone to be a bit busy having a life and the forum gets overrun with spam. Since our lovely forum developers seem incapable of delivering a systemic solution, we just have to accept that tons of spam will keep us company from time to time, or.... ???

I didn't mind recording it here so much last night but it just didn't stop is all. It was getting later and later and more and more spam was being created. I did see a few clicks every so often from others but not enough that would make it go poof.

I was finding it everywhere, page 10, page 5, all sorts of places on various forums.. that surprised me!

Well I'm glad at least the group of us are tracking it and bringing the links over here. I think it might be wise if some of the regulars over here were given 5-clicks so it wouldn't be on the boards as long..it only makes sense, least to me. I had 5-clicks as a Greeter and it was very helpful when I came across spam.

The Korean spam - would be simple to kill on sight - hit any posts that are more than 5% Korean character set - just some filtering in the forum software.

I'm tired of providing my whack a mole services for free.

That must have come and gone quickly because I don't recall having 3-4 flag zap a thread for me. I read about it on here but not sure it lasted long enough as a feature for me to come across.

No, it never worked. If you're # 3 or 4, you'll get a message saying this post has been flagged for moderation or some such. Fat lot of good that does, we want the *kitten* gone, not some stupid message, vanilla, didn't you understand this????

I think the boards need a more aggressive way to target spammers rather than spam posts. For example, if two posts are flagged as spam by 5 users in (some short time period), the whole account and all their posts gets marked as spam and hidden.

I think this could be a good idea . There's really no need for people to be able to create 25 threads back to back to back unless they where trolling or spamming. Putting some type of block like this could be useful. The only problem is that people would flag foes posts as spam just to have the members posts hidden.
