I've been flagging messages like crazy this morning - is there a way to flag the whole user ID?
It beats me what these spambots are hoping to achieve by posting short-lived spam messages in Korean(?) on an English-language board. Even if they're sending out spam mail with links to the messages, the messages must be dying within a small number of hours0 -
35dollars - I read somewhere that spammers get paid per post, so as long as the post stays up for a minute or two for verification they get the 1 penny or whatever. A few times they get lucky and get a click-through, either accidental or on purpose, and get another penny or two.0

@35dollars From a PC Right Click on their ID Name in the message and Open in New Tab.Is there a way to flag the whole user ID?
Go to that tab and Right Click on the ID Name Copy Shortcut gives you this

If you just Copy all you get is 35dollars
If you Right Click inside the message and Copy Shortcut you get

That gets me to their profile, but then what? If the profile had a "report spammer" button or link that would be great (though possibly open to abuse), but I don't see anything there that would help.
I still feel that the better option would be an automatic temporary ban and refer to moderation on having multiple posts flagged1 -

I agree it would be a better option - unfortunately they have not built that into the system so we have to deal with what limited tools we have available. Copy and paste - not the best.0 -

After reading through a post today on the use of Flag ( Spam, Abuse, Report) I now just use the Report feature for the Spam Bots ( ie Asian W119/T119 ) as this gets to the moderators/MFP staff without 5 Flags and they seem to react pretty fast.0

Whatever system is being used, it just isn't working - the boards are getting inundated with spam every morning.
There really needs to be an active moderator working late Asia/early Europe hours for a while to nuke these messages as soon as they appear - might discourage the bots if the posts disappear and accounts get blocked within a few minutes0 -

Our hyperactive friends are back again. Flagging them, but this approach really isn't working - it needs a moderator around at this time of the day to immediately zap the accounts while they're still posting - make them realise that this is a bad target and move on0

I agree! @Nova can you create a nomination, for moderators; solely for this time of day or we should have shift moderator nominations, to ensure that we always have moderators available; no matter the time of day.1 -
European staff members will be on shift soon, it was arranged that they would keep an eye on the spam, not sure how well it is working though.
I am in Australia (early evening now), it really needs a moderator or staff member with member blocking rights for this time of the day.1 -

Anyone can nominate a moderator. There's a stickie topic for it and you can email staff any time. One problem I ran into is that moderators have a whole slew of time consuming responsibilities, so the users don't necessarily want to do that job. But staff needs the moderators to take on the full moderator roles and responsibilities, and at the time did not seem open to a mod who just does spam swatting. Maybe I misunderstood, or they'll change their minds on this. Or a sneaky stealthy user can join up with the intent of only doing spam. It needs to be an active member whose awake hours are when they hit hardest 0
