I don't think I'd consider selling my home for less than $15,000,000. It's not worth that much, but I love it dearly.

If I had a home maybe. I am apartment renting right now. I don't quite understand this posting.. My dog is worth a lot to me. I am lucky to have an apartment building where I can have him.

I would not sell my house for $140,000, that would be silly when it is worth about $350,000.

I wouldn't sell my pet for any amount of money - because no amount of money is going to bring me more happiness than my dog does.

I guess hypothetically, if my child needed life saving medical treatment and I couldn't afford it without selling my dog for $140,000, I might sell my dog.

This is very hypothetical though as my dog is really worth nothing financially to anybody else and my children are not sick.

Nope. Mine is worth more, but with all the work it's taking us, I might consider it.

I have top of the line Andersen windows in mine and am in a gated community. No way, my home is worth thrice that at least.

That could buy a really nice house in West Texas.

The Money Pit is a pain in my @$$, but worth lots more than that; No.
  • That wouldn't even pay off what I still owe on my mortgage. So, um, no.

The same could be said of a lot of homes in the Mid West. $140K would buy a really nice home in a lot of places. It would also buy you a crappy place in a crappy location in a lot of urban locations though.

    Of course I would. I think it's assessed at $110 or 120k.

I don't own a home yet. But I know my parents would never sell it for that little. Long Island homes are expensive as hell. I think it's worth ~800 grand if I'm remembering that correctly.

considering mine is worth much less.. maybe. But the sentimental value is worth more than 150k.

I wish I could actually just move it to a better neighborhood. I'm sure when it was built in 1937 this area was beautiful but it's a little scary now lol.

Condos/houses are pretty expensive here. $140k wouldn't get you much here, so my parents would never sell the house for that little. Although, I wish I could find something for that price lol.

I'm confused.. but I purchased my home in 2013 for 150k. So no, I won't sell it for $140k. As for the pets? Not sure what you mean. I love my animals.

I rent, so the question is not relevant. However, I live in a small town in Iowa, so $140k is going to buy a pretty decent house around here. Unfortunately, there are not a lot of condos, so it doesn't make sense for 1 person to have a whole house... the cost of the house, utilities, and then the repair and maintenance (not just money, but time also). If I had a wife, I might consider renting a larger space or even buying a small home (don't need a huge amount of space for 2 people either).

erm...my mom's house is worth about $50k; I'm looking to have one built for about $95k. Either you live in an inflated market or I live in a deflated one, or both. I've actually seen some old fixer uppers in my region for less than the price of a new car.

It really depends on where you're at. The median home price in the U.S. was $188,900 in January 2014. In Manhattan that would get you maybe a walk in closet to live in whereas that would by a small castle in parts of the mid-west. $140K would get you a pretty great home in much of the country.
