Internet addiction

Irony, I know. I've gotten into the habit of spending hours on the computer and having no self control. Honestly, I don't know what to do? I get stressed out or if my phone is operating because I need a timer. I'll spend it on the internet. It's worse because I'll need it for school work and barely anything will get done and I won't have time for much else.

I've gotten addicted to the forums on my phone since I had my (last) baby. Sometimes I just need her to sleep and she'll only do it while I'm holding her... once she's out there's not much else to do but sit there....

I am on-line more than I would like. Some things I do are make a to-do list of extra things I could be doing and set a timer and allot myself a certain amount of time on-line. If something is novel I spend more time on it for awhile but that wears off.

If it is getting in the way of schoolwork and activities that is a problem. Maybe make sure you do those things first and then use the internet time as a reward?

ANYTHING can become an addiction based on physical response to stimulus. If we perceive something as good and fulfilling in some way, our bodies release chemicals to support that. It becomes a habit with physical and physiological ties. Read up on breaking habits, but get a book to do it and don't research it on the Internet. That would be ironic.

I'll have to try. Maybe I could try doing other things in my down time.
