HRM calorie Burn vs Calories Consumed

Hello. I have been wearing my heart rate monitor to find out what I burn on an average day. It says I burn between 2000-2500 calories a day (24 hour period) I am wondering if that is the case and I want to lose more weight... I should be eating about 1500 calories a day right??????
I am confused because I have been doing this and my weight is being like a roller coaster.. up and down and up and down and stall mate and up and down.. I dont like it.. I want to get back into losing at a steady pace.
Side note. I work out at least 4 times a week. I do Jamie Easons fat burn plan and Cardio...
If anyone has any idea... please help me..

I don't think HRM's claim to be effective at measuring calories at rest or low heart rate, so some caution is required.
Does your HRM know much about you - what data do you have to enter to set it up ?
Your basic idea is ok, if you burn 2000 then eating 1500 should give you weight loss, but I would need convincing that the 2000 - 2500 was correct.0 -
A HRM is meant to only be worn during exercise that significantly raises your heart rate for an extended period of time. The algorithms are set up for that so if you aren't doing some kind of steady state cardio that would have your heart at least over 110 bpm you're getting exaggerated numbers. If you want all day monitoring you need something like a BodyBugg.0

^This. You want some sort of activity tracker that you wear all day to figure out that kind of information. BodyMedia (bodybugg), Fitbit, Jawbone Up, and Nike + are just a few of the devices that will help calculate your calorie burn outside of exercise.0 -

BodyBugg or FitBit for total daily burn .... HRM for (cardio) for workout burn
But yes, you have the basic concept .... eat some number below what you burn in a 24 hour period to lose weight. The bigger the deficit .... the faster you will lose**
**Losing weight too fast will cause you to lose muscle mass. This is why MFP starts you at one number and then ADDs back calories for workouts. Think of the numbers added back as fuel for your workouts.0
