Honestly, I think "regular" milk is more nutritious and filling, and I'm not lactose intolerant or vegan. I use whole milk because I don't have a problem with fat in my diet and I find it works better in most everything that requires milk (EXCEPT for macaroni and cheese from the box, coconut milk (like the kind from So Delicious) makes mac'n'cheese better tasting and lower calorie. Seriously, try it, it's great. But don't put it in scrambled eggs. Never again).

I love almond milk for the taste on it's own, but only sweetened, so it's more of a dessert than a replacement for dairy milk, although it's nice that's it's fortified with some extra minerals/vitamins.

Love it in protein shakes! I use vanilla unsweetened.
  • I prefer almond milk over regular milk, especially in smoothies.

I LOVE ALMOND MILK <3 it's low in calories, has healthy fats, and awesome flavours and the unsweetened is low in sugar cals and carbs! If you're worried about protein, just look at you general protein daily, if you rely on milk for a lot of protein you should really consider some new sources (greek yogurt, egg whites, tuna)
  • I love it... I get enough protein in my other foods.. I get the unsweetened and 1 cup is only 30 calories :)

    No.

It's only good for smoothies, otherwise I would stick to skim milk since it's not that high in calories anyway and great for protein intake.

I use it, and love it.

Be warned, though, the consistency isn't the same as milk. So there are some recipes where you may or may not be able to substitute it. Generally, I use it for oatmeal and to eat with dry cereals. I find it mixes with Nesquick and other chocolate drink mixes really well, but that it doesn't taste/mix great with hot chocolate. It's good in smoothies, too.

I did not like it in tea, but found it worked in coffee.

If I want protein, I just go for milk. But I don't generally drink milk for the protein (although, considering that my protein is often low, perhaps I should lol). I wouldn't worry about that unless you struggle meeting protein.

I love almond, cashew and cows milk, and use them all. The nut milks are super simple to make, and taste a lot better than the store bought, but don't have the long shelf life because there are no added preservatives.

I love Almond and Cashew milks...so low in calories and they make my protein shakes so good! If you are counting on milk to meet protein goals, the new "Almond Plus" has 5 g of protein per cup!

I use the unsweetened almond milk from trader joe since i'm lactose intolerant. I use 1/2 cup and mix in the bullet with a bananna and 1/2 cup frozen blueberrys. Every morning and I even have my 4 year old making his own bananna shake which he thinks is the coolest thing.

I love it. But I do not like it in hot coffee. I have a dairy sensitivity so I just learned to drink it black.

The unsweetened kind is so good. That's my milk of choice.

It's a perfect lower-cal substitute for milk in stuff like smoothies, oatmeal, or with cereal (I do a non-fat greek yogurt + almond milk mix when I eat cold cereal). It's not so great as a substitute for milk in pancakes or other baked goods.

I used to drink almond milk to save calories, but I prefer 3.5% milk for both taste and texture.....and almond milk didn't save me enough calories to really care.

I use coconut milk, because I'm allergic to nuts...but I do love the lower calories. I'd ask that if you make something to share with it, that you make sure people know it's got almond milk in it. At Christmas last year someone brought in some homemade Irish Cream for coffee. I drank a full cup before I realized he used almond milk. Oops!

You have to get a special kind that is made for mixing with coffee/tea. Otherwise is curdles and looks disgusting. And then you have to have two kinds - one for drinking straight and cooking with, and one for mixing with drinks. It's annoying that I could never go through both without wasting them since they'd go bad before I could finish.
  • I'm not a fan of it, and nor am I a fan of normal milk. Never have been, think it's a texture thing.
  • Yes. Tasty, cruelty free and pus free. All good things in my opinion.

O yes I LOVE Almond Milk the 30 call one. I use it in Cerial, drink it with cookies (only once  ) and with Mac and Cheese. I love nuts so I guess I am what I eat and drink  But yes. I do love it.

Califia Farms makes an amazing toasted coconut almond milk and it's amazing. I swear by it, and almond milk in general. It's tasty, it's creamy and it's SO LOW in calories if you choose the unsweetened variety. I can't see any drawbacks to it. I freaking love it.

From an environmental point of view, almond milk is a no. The growing of almonds requires A LOT of water. Most are grown in California, which is in extreme drought. Eating almonds is nutritious. Almond milk is a small amount of almonds (grown with a lot of water) plus a lot more water to produce and add to the "milk." So it depends on your environmental consciousness.

Yes. Tasty, cruelty free and pus free. All good things in my opinion.

Pasteurized pus is just extra protein. It's a good thing.
