    hmm i want to try the one meal a day thing i know its probably bad but i need some serious help and fast , i really would like to do a fad diet just to shed some pounds that way its a little more easier to move in the gym does anyone have any suggestions ?

    It's called Intermediate Fasting. Look it up and join the group on here if you want to try it.

    Most women (not all) need in the neighborhood of 1500 calories. Then just don't even consider the exercise calories. They don't burn all that much anyway. I don't even count calories as I think it's stupid. But if you do, you need to eat lots of good food, especially fat and protein. If you do not eat enough, you'll lose weight and it will be muscle, not fat.

    I have never done the 1200 cal thing. Right now I'm eating 1600/day + exercise calories, which is up to 2000-2200 cal/day. I'm 5'9" and about 201 lbs. This week I've lost 2 lbs already, and my official weigh-in isn't until tomorrow. If I tried to eat only 1200, I know I would fail. I might even pass out. It has happened to me before d/t low blood sugar.

    1200 calories isn't that low, depending on your height weight and age. But you know, they created the algorithms on this site with some knowledge and expertise. Why don't you enter your height and weight and age and whatever, and a reasonable weight loss goal (.5 - 1.5 lbs / week) and see what the calculator tells you to eat? The site will give you accurate expert advice on how many calories you should be eating.

    Everybody's different. I've done days where I eat as little as 1000 calories, but that's generally sandwiched between some 1400 and some 1600 calorie days. It's about the big picture. It's about listening to how your body feels. Obviously if you fall into an addictive pattern, it's not good, no matter how many calories you are eating!

    No, that's the minimum for a woman of average height, with no other medical conditions, not supervised by a healthcare professional. And anyone with a lick of common sense would figure out that someone who's more active would need more.

    Yes, binge eating is a bad idea, and no, you shouldn't do it or any other fad diet.
    Eat a variety of healthy food, in reasonable portions, so that you're eating 10x your healthy goal weight in calories.
    Exercise at least 30 min a day.
    Lose weight slowly & gradually, make lasting lifestyle changes, and you'll keep the weight off.

    I've got to say, I don't know where you get your information from and where you got the whole 10x goal weight nonsense from, but your posts give me a headache. That's it.

    Don't care what any other replies said, but THIS. This poster weighs like 220lbs or something, so 2200 calories is far more reasonable (even if it's potentially lower than her needs) than someone who is 150 lbs eating 1500 calories total without even considering his/her activity levels.

    On the medically supervised diet I did 1200 cals was the line between supervision or no supervision. If you were eating 1200/day they didn't need to monitor you. If you were on a program that had you eating less than that then you saw a nurse each week and a doctor each month, as well as a lab panel.

    I'd say its your body do what you want with it, but at the risk of being labeled "stalker" I looked through your diary and either you don't always fill it out completely or there are days where you don't even get 1200 calories.

    I also find it hilarious you go from wanting to be extra fat to losing weight but good on you, being a healthy size is much better than increasing in weight. You see those crazy stories on like dr phil and maury and yeah... :\

    That worked for me, but short term. I ended up hungrier.

    Giving 'most women' a calorie guide of 1500 is as silly as giving them all 1200 ( or 1800 or 2000 or any other blanket amount)
    Some women are shorter, taller, older, younger, lighter, heavier, more or less active etc etc - the only appropriate way to do this is to calculate your individual calorie requirements

    My TDEE is like 1,500 calories. My calorie goal is currently 1,333. I hope to loose 7-8 pounds this month. And AT LEAST 4 to 5 pounds each month after that. Using the TDEE-20% method what should my caloric goal be? Or is mu current one good?

    1500 cal is the TDEE for a 5'0", 40 yr old, barely active female, that weighs 120 lbs, which is already a healthy weight. Is that really your TDEE? What are your stats?

    The OP's profile says she is 18 years old. Let's say she is 5'0" and 150 lbs, like you suggested. If she only does light exercise 3 x/wk, her TDEE is 1902-20%=1522 cal/day. Still not 1200.

    fatcity66, any calculator will give you numbers that back up what you are saying. The fact is, that these are general guidelines. I am pretty sure that no one knows the history of this OP as well as she does. To suggest that this number is correct for her without knowing anything about her doesn't seem too helpful. People should not dictate what is right, or wrong, for another person without knowing anything other than weight, gender, age and height. It is not your call. Everyone is different. Everyone should seek professional advice, whether it be a physician, nutritionist, dietician, or anyone who may be qualified to access their individual goals and health. Basic guidelines are helpful, but we have to adjust to what is right for us as individuals. Everyone is different.

    I know you said you - my question was how is what you are on and fact you would pass out on 1200 calories, relevant to OP, given she is not you and does not have same statistics as you.

    No I didn't suggest they were OP's stats - I am not able to check profiles on iPad - I pointed out that anyone shorter and lighter than you would have lower allowance - 9 in shorter and 50lb lighter seemed very possible but by 'or so' I meant I was approximating a likely scenario..
    I just don't get why you posted about your own calorie allowance at all - it had no relevance to thread.
