How many calories did you used to eat?

I am afraid to figure it out, but I am tempted to put in an "old me" day just to see.
I think it would be alarming.

Generally around 3,000 or so and was pretty much not active at all. I actually maintain now if I keep it around 2700-2800, but I workout and hit the weight room pretty hard these days.

The first day I tried MFP, I calculated the day at 2,700. No junk food, just a clean 2,700 of rice, beans, bread, nuts, and fruit.

In order to beat my body in the first place, I had days easily over 4,000 including entire pizza meals, multiple bacon cheeseburgers, etc., while not exercising.

If I had to guess my typical day would consist of maybe 2000 calories worth of food and 2000 + calories in soda.

    edit:

Thought I should probably add. Around the time I started gaining weight, I was only eating 2 meals a day (each roughly 1000 calories) and I would go through at least 2 - 2liters of Mountain Dew a day.

The majority of the time, probably around 2500 per day. But the days where I didn't think about it, probably nearer to 4000-5000.....deary me!!

Probably about 2500 on average, mostly because I was eating out at lunch everyday.

I have no idea, which is why I'm here. I probably ate between 1500 and 2000 of "real" food, but NO idea how many calories from chips and crackers and candy and other "noshes" (mostly) while driving I might have racked up

Wow....I am guessing typically - 4000 calories a day. Probably more, a lot of meals were fast food.

I've spot checked kind of an outlandish day or two and I was able to hit 7000 pretty easily.

I think my eating would be similar for meals, probably more refined carbs and I snacked a fair amount, definitely 1 chocolate bar and 1 bag of crisps a day

I dare not think about it. I would probably clock on average 3000-4000 a day, including alcohol. Bad days could be higher.

God I can't even imagine... I didn't even know what a calorie was back then. I'm going to assume 2,500-3,000 on a normal day, but if I went out t dinner or something I was probably tipping 3,500-4,000. :'(

Two weeks ago I went to the city with my husband and just kind of ate the old way--easily got to 3600. That's why the first 25 pounds I lost was completely due to dietary changes...probably not enough time in a day to burn off what I could eat in twenty minutes...potato chips, dip, fries, pizza....shudder.....

I used to maintain on nearly 4000 calories but I was much more active. I would say that my max caloric intake was probably somewhere around there. I gained weight every time something knocked me on my rear. Two ankle surgeries (after injury) and a pregnancy without appropriately adjusting my intake meant I was gaining a pound every few days. Other than that, I maintained my weight.

I started my diet by logging normal days. It was about 1500 - 1800 a day but it was mostly salt and sugar.

Probably around 1800-2000, and burned around the same. I was mostly the same weight for 10 years give or take two pounds. But- my diet was prob 90% carbs. The only fat I ate was the butter on my toast and whenever I ordered fast food. Protein was next to nothing- the occasional mcdonalds hamburger or scrambled eggs. I tried out a carb cycling diet just so I could get the carb day but never made it to day 7. Now I just eat whatever in smaller portions than before (although portion control was never a problem for me) but force myself to eat vegetables and more protein.

My guess would be as many as I could shove in my mouth. I would eat candy like I was a bear chubbing up for winter. I would guess around 3000 most days, with no exercise.

probably only about 750 calories more than I eat now. I was gaining 0.25 - .5 lb per week, so I was eating somewhere in the range of 250 calories over my TDEE

I would say at least double at a minimum to what I am eating now (1670).

Average day was probably around 3400 not including mindless snacking and calorie laden drinks.

Probably 5,000-7,000 on most days. My first semester at college, I put on 35 lbs in about 3 or 4 months time.

I've been fat forever (age 11/12). I just entered a fake day from what I would eat about 3 or 4 years ago. 4,200. What's amazing is that I would have sworn up and down to you that I wasn't overeating. Denial is a powerful thing. This is a sad, but enlightening, thread. Thanks for starting it.

I did do an "old me" day very recently because I was celebrating the end of my student teaching assignment.

It ended up being close to 2500 :noway:

Same omg. I was a skinny minnie in high school and then I gained about the same as you in my first semester of college in a short amount of time. Ever since then I had trouble losing weight (until now!)

I think it would be alarming.

I have often thought about checking this out in the diary, but haven't done it yet. I wouldn't know how to do it for the most part since I got to be obese when I was in high school. I have no idea how to track school lunches on here. I would eat breakfast at home, school lunch, lunch again at home, mom's dinner, most likely seconds on dinner, and then dessert. At college it was much of the same, only different people cooked the food...I am wagering to guess I was eating at least 3000 calories a day, probably more. My current TDEE with all the exercise that I do is around 2150 calories, and back then my TDEE would have been a lot less since I didn't do nearly as much exercise. One day I will try logging just to see...

I used to bake 4-5 times a week and every meal had rice pasta or bread. I loved making creamy foods too. We also had a store on the corner so that meant daily trips to buy chips, cookies and ice cream. We would eat out for dinner alot too and i usually ate almost a box of cheez its before bed too. Hmm u do the math. Lol

No corner store anymore, all meals pretty much prepared, baking only once every couple of months, creamy foods only on a cheat day, not many carbs with meals anymore and have only had cheez it's twice in 6 months now. Yay
