Any previous BodyMedia fans switch to jawbone up24?

I have emailed them twice. I am pretty close to canceling too. I've had mine since 2009. I just wish they would fix the issue! I get the update error too. I uninstalled and reinstalled the Bodymedia software on one computer and that seemed to fix the error (but it's only for one day so who knows). If everyone keeps nagging Bodymedia it might help, you never know.0

This is so frustrating...I mentioned it an earlier comment, but I JUST GOT MINE!! It's been 2 weeks, that's it!!! I'm so sad, because I fell in love with it instantly, and not sure I want to dish out the extra money for the Up3. I wish there was another tracker out there that worked like this one...0

I had no idea that there was an optional display device for the BMF. Lol

no me either! Do you wear that instead of the armband, or do you wear them both?? Not sure how it works...0

What's the difference between the display and the app? I still have to have the subscription to use the app

The display is for the non-Bluetooth BodyMedia device. The LINK doesn't need a display because the display is via the phone app.0

If you have the old school BMF or the Core you can use this to get you numbers. It's about the size of a quarter and can go in a pocket, in your purse, etc.0

I'm in the legions of BM device users who have been well satisfied. I was dismayed to find the device discontinued, and I see no replacements that equal it. I do a lot of elliptical work, and none of them seem to track that sort of activity. My BM Core device tracks everything amazingly. I was excited here to read of the Jawbone 3, but when I went to read the description and the wired article it appears they are using BM technology in the first release only for heart rate - which I don't much care about. I want the ability to track any exertion like the BM device does, not just steps!
I don't know what to do. I would purchase a backup device, but I'm just not sure how long BodyMedia will support the upload subscription site. I read a little about the Peak, which seems closest to BM, but it too seems not quite there. And Jawbone's reputation isn't such that it's a great gamble to rely on future plans.
One negative thing about BM is my armband plastic thing breaks about every 3 months. I'm on my last one, sigh. So I'm trying to figure out if I should corral a few armbands, buy a backup device, or just give up. Any advice???0 -
I bought a replacement strap under a year ago. I got the same "we don't sell them" message. I emailed and they sent a free replacement because it was within a year of purchase. I did note that I'd ordered the Up3 and that I was upset that they didn't continue to support when they couldn't deliver the new product.0

Any updates from remaining BodyMedia fans? My CORE isn't syncing and nothing seems to work.
About broken straps - I am on my last one too, but an alternative is getting a larger sweatband (traditionally worn on the wrist) and move it up your arm, then tuck in your CORE. I've had to resort to that and it seemed to work well.0 -

I'm still holding on to my BMF. I am scared everyday that it is gonna go kaput.0 -
So I stopped wearing my Bodymedia Link because I was so upset that Jawbone bought the company & decided to discontinue the line and is not selling replacement straps. I have been searching everywhere for a similar product and have found a product that you can pre-order as it is not available as yet. It looks like it will be in distribution shortly. https://www.atlaswearables.com/product/
I bought a Samsung Gear in the interim until Atlas is available and its a total waste of money!!
Does anyone know if I can restart my subscription for the Bodymedia, is it still active?0 -
I just got an email from BodyMedia today, that they will be stopping the syncing between the armband, and the online activity tracker, and my armband will stop working after the end of January 2016. They said in the email, and had a link, to where I could get a 'deep discount' on a Jawbone tracker.
Now, I had just gotten an email from Jawbone, a few days ago, about a holiday sale. I thought, awesome, if they're giving a discount to former BM owners, with the holiday sale... it might be a price I could afford. I clicked the link, and imagine my irritation, at finding it just sent me to the holiday sale where anybody can buy one of their UP trackers for less.
I wrote to both BM and Jawbone, telling them I thought they should offer BM customers, whom have shown customer loyalty, an extra discount, on top of the holiday discount, because, as I just had pointed out to me, I'll soon be shopping for a new fitness tracker, and can choose from any out there on the market. That I'm unlikely to go with a company that show no loyalty to their customers, and just drop them, and make their devices, many of which still work, into paperweights..
I got two emails back right away. The standard one from Jawbone, saying they started a case. But, BM sent me an email, telling me that I needed to contact Jawbone for support. Nice, after THEY sent me an email, gave me a link to contact them, if I had any questions (which was a bad address, got a failure back, undeliverable, had to go to the web site, to send them a message).
Hopefully, they'll do the right thing...0 -
I got the same message. I have been looking around, and none of the competition seems any good. I've been doing great using the BodyMedia Fit, because I don't have a smart phone or tablet, and most use them. So, so disappointed in Jawbone. I had the same reaction to you, IrreverentOne!0

are you serious? why would they phase it out when it's the most accurate calorie tracker on the maket? unless they're gonna release a new one that is even more accurate? I don't want to switch from my bodymedia because it's dead on for my cal expenditure and that's the most important thing for me. I'll be really annoyed if they discontinue it and replace it with some sh1tty wristband with piss poor accuracy.
Because a lot people don't like the visible armband. It never bothered me, and I like when people ask me about it, but I think things like FitBit that aren't visible have cause sales of the BodyMedia to drop.
Sad when people prefer looks over function for something meant for function.

I saw the writing on the wall at the beginning of this year and bought a Vivosmart. I knew this was coming after i few emails with BM and Jawbone.0

I just received BodyMedia Core from my husband this Christmas. He purchased it from Amazon. Am I understanding this correctly - that I am totally unable to use this device now? I am open to any assistance. Please tell me I can still use the armband. Do I need to buy the display?0

I'm so sad that bodymedia sold out to jawbone. There is no comparison, as far as I'm concerned. If jawbone bought bodymedia, they should be using the same accurate technology! Why aren't they? When comparing all fit devices, none compare to the accuracy of bodymedia . . . mine is the old bodybugg. Maybe, Bodymedia will come back! Plus, I don't like wearing a device on my wrist. My work won't allow it! Anyway, it is very frustrating when thinking about fitness devices. None compare to the Bodymedia devices. At all! I'll hold out until there is one that does compare.0

I just received an UP3 yesterday, purchased for about $130 from Amazon. While it has some great features and the app looks nice, as far as calorie burn tracking, it is indeed inferior to the Bodymedia FIT Link that I'm trying to replace. The UP3 didn't even track elevated heart rate during my weightlifting workout this morning. And I had to manually pick weightlifting from a list and estimate my level of intensity. The the UP3 app just spit out an estimated calorie burn for my workout. Nothing was tracked, not even my heart rate. Very disappointing. Also concerning is that Bodymedia's website refers customers to Jawbone to purchase a new device that incorporates Bodymedia's technology. I'm not sure which technology it incorporates, but it's not the most important one: the calorie burn. All I want is an accurate calorie burn measure. Body media had it. Jawbone seems to have thrown it away. It's only been a day, so I'll give it more time, but I am very disappointed.0

My Core became useless about 2 yrs ago when the "updated" the algorithms and it started adding about 500 calls to my burned amount. I switched to the Fitbit HR this year and LOVE it. Customer service is fantastic and the calorie count is dead on for me.0

Switched to Garmin and bought a Vivoactive watch.0

I just bought the UP2. So far so good.0

Nothing compares to BM as far as calorie burn goes. It's so accurate that it's an FDA approved medical device. I hate Jawbone! They totally screwed everything up!0
