The best part about Holdays, Thanksgiving or Christmas, is that all my daughters and those that they care about, my granddaughters, my wife and my friends will all be over. Nothing earth-shattering takes place. I just love to cook for them. I love to watch them talking to each other.

Wait a second, I do have one wish. I wish they would turn off their cell phones.

Like this. My brother is home from Canada and my brother in law from Australia and sister in law from Boston for Christmas so will have a lot of people to visit. Finishing up work on the 23rd of December til the 2nd of January so looking forward to time off work

I agree. How about we just cancel Christmas and put a stop to the increase in anxiety and depression that it seems to cause from people running around rushing, trying to make it perfect?

I don't do Christmas but I laugh at how all the people who claim to love it whip themselves into a crazed, manic frenzy that leaves them exhausted and numb by the time the big day arrives.

This makes my soul hurt a little bit. I'm sorry so many people you know cause themselves to have a bad Christmas. I'm fortunate enough to come from a great family who do pretty well around the holidays and support each other. Personally, I can't wait for my first Christmas (2015) with my son. I'm sure your response will or would go something like "I make every day like Christmas" or "I don't need an excuse to love my family, humanity" or "I don't need a reason to buy someone a present on one day... i can do that whenever" and if that's truly the way things are, then I'm genuinely happy for you. I get caught up in work and other ridiculous "priorities" the rest of the year and the holidays are a time where I intentionally take time to volunteer, help someone across the street, remind myself that my cynicism isn't eveything and, bad drivers aside, humanity really is worth living and fighting for.

Or you might just be a really sad *kitten*. I hope someone who isn't frenzied gives you a hug on Christmas, feller.

I already have my family and friends so I don't ask Santa for anything. Anyway, instead of leaving out milk and cookies, I leave espresso and biscotti out for Santa. He stays a bit longer at my house ;)

So... because you don't do it... and because of what you observe in some people that you disagree with.... it should be taken away from everyone? How arrogant and selfish of you. I'll keep my wonderful family get together that I look forward to all year, thank you very much. I don't get frantic about it, or whip myself into a frenzy over it. I get to see my family and we all have a wonderful time together. No one is anxious or depressed. most of us donate to holiday charities to try to help others have a better holiday as well.

    Mind your own business.

I'm 40 so my Christmas wish list days are long past...I love watching my kids on Christmas morning though. My eldest (4 y.o.) is getting a new 16" BMX bike...not sure about my 2 y.o. yet though.

my wife is getting a kindle fire (she already ordered it for herself) and I'm getting some Reebok Crossfit Lifter 2.0s (placing the order next week).

I'd settle for the time, clarity of mind, and abundance of research materials for my own thesis.

Only a hypocritical idiot would be on the internet calling for the end of capitalism. Kind of like those idiots doing the "We are the 99%" marches calling for the end of capitalism while wearing trendy American Eagle clothing and snapping selfies on their Apple iPhones.

I am envious of all of you with your children and lovely families. Our first child is coming March 8, 2015, but we'll have to get on making more soon. You guys think wifey will be ready to immediately return to the land of no booze, dietary restrictions, and almost constant discomfort?

I know we're geeks, but we already can't wait to listen to Christmas music, to watch Scrooged and Elf and those janky, stop-motion classics like Rudolf the RNR.

Sorry, I meant the US Thanksgiving. (Admittedly, I was only thinking of Thanksgiving celebrations of countries with populations greater than that of California.)

Christmas with kids is unlike anything I've ever experienced...Disneyland with my 4 y.o. was a close second though.

Don't have thanksgiving here in England :( but my little niece is back from Uganda for the holidays and my mum doesn't have to work Christmas day so I'm happy! :D Favourite time of the year by far but would wish for snow! Oh and chocolate.. and to get through uni without killing myself would be nice :')
