I think you would benefit from talking with a therapist. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) works wonders for social anxiety.

my deepest apologies if i sounded like I was calling calling the treadmill jury a group of judgmental people. I edited my post before I posted it and it came across a way other than I intended.

I try to make them laugh if I feel their eyes on me.

It's my answer to gym anxiety.

sorry if you think that means im projecting my own judgmental issues on other people Im scared of at the gym.

This is why I don't go to the 24Hour near my new place - nothing to look at while I'm on the cardio machines. The gym by my old place had that setup where I got to stare at the weight area, plus it was in a bad neighborhood so all the guys there were beefed-up thugs...just my type. Gawd I miss that.

Don't despair, this is a very common cognitive distortion.
Here is a good article on it.

Im very similar. I have social anxiety so badly that just being on this site and having "friends" freaks me out badly. at work its like im playing a role and its not the real me. i finally got brave and opened my diary again. yes i missed breakfast and had sweets at work, but i also know that the rest of my day is planned out and i can hit my macro goal. as far as the gym goes...i have equipment at home that i have gathered over years and i workout at home...no judgemental bodies there :)
