I have the Eat Smart scale you linked. I've had it for almost a year with no problems at all. I haven't had to change the batteries as of yet.0

This is the kitchen scale I have used every day, multiple times a day for 5 years. I LOVE it.0 -
I replaced my broken Ozeri scale in Februrary for this one and change the batteries every couple of months. The flat surface makes cleaning the scale much easier for me.
My only real issue with this and every food scale I've come across is the auto shut off feature.0 -
I have the OXO 5 lb capacity one. I got it last Christmas as a gift and have only replaced the batteries once since then with 9 months of use. I live it, I asked for it specifically because of the pull out option and I love that about it. No problems at all with it so far.0

After two bonking out on me, I honestly found it less of a pain to use measuring cups (and then google to get information on volume to weight conversion for particular entries).0

I have the Ozeri Pro 12lb capacity, but in black:
http://www.amazon.com/Ozeri-Digital-Kitchen-Capacity-Stylish/dp/B003E7AZQA/ref=cm_cr_pr_pb_t
It works, gets the job done. It's ugly and super cheap looking, though, the plate has like a mirrored mylar coating. The buttons are kind of clunky and will stick sometimes. But it's accurate right out of the box, it weighed a nickel correctly at 5 grams.
I've had it for 6 months or so and haven't needed to change batteries on it.
I don't know if $26 is fair for Canadian, but I wouldn't pay $26 USD on it, there are nicer (prettier, at the very least) scales for that price.

I have the had the OXO Good Grips since January of 2013. It has worked wonderfully, without a hitch.
My version weighs up to 22 pounds.
Its selling point to me was the fact that it can weigh up to 22 pounds. I like to be able to measure my foods in my heavy stoneware without having to hassle with transferring from another dish.
It has a very bright backlight and measures out grams, ounces, milliliters, and cups. I've only used the grams and ounces. The rest of the measurements haven't been necessary for me but are fun to have.
I also like the fact that it takes AAA batteries, I always seem to have this size on hand because I have other appliances that take them.
Oh, I also like it because it is made of stainless steel and not plastic so it won't discolor over time.

22lbs?! how expensive was that?
But I really... really am eyeing that OXO. I don't think I need the heavy-duty 22lbs though, but I feel like 11lbs would be nice, but OXO's 11lb is pricier than others.0 -

I seem to recall thinking I was buying the 11 pound model. When I pulled out the manual last night 22 pound is what it read. I am sure 11 pounds is suffice.0 -
I have a Soehnle scale that I've used for years. They don't make the one I have any more but when mine dies I'll be looking for another Soehnle, probably this one: http://www.soehnle.de/en/products/kitchen-scales/digital-kitchen-scales.html?sy_produkt[id]=316&cHash=326af073b20

Have you considered the Taylor "Biggest Loser" scale? I got it at Walmart, and I wonder if they have it in stock online or in store. Less than $30 US; I think it was close to $25 US. I bought mine in the spring; it's still trucking on the original battery, and I have not had one issue with it. I've had it 7-9 months so far (can't remember exactly). It also tares containers and weighs in both grams and ounces down to the decimal point.0
