What was your rate of weight loss?

Weight loss ain't linear. We all know that. There are stops and starts, plateaus, and of course the rate of loss slows as you get closer and closer to your goal.
Just curious: Those of you who have lost weight, what was the pace of your loss? Did you start off quickly and then slow down? Did you plateau a lot? Did it take ages to lose the last 10 pounds?
Personally, it's taken me:
And I've got 25lbs to go. No specific time frame for that, but I'm keeping my expectations realistic and assuming it'll take another year or so at least. My calorie goal is set up for about a 0.8lb/week loss, which I will gradually lower to 0.5lbs/week or less as I get closer to my goal.
How about you?

Personally, it's taken me:
- 2 weeks to lose the first 5lbs (mostly water weight, I assume)
- 3 weeks to lose the next 5lbs
- 4 weeks to lose the third 5lbs

some weeks was up but the overall trend line has been downwards. Checking my logs i think the longest time of not losing anything was 11 days so it does not qualify as a plateau.
Started on August 27th, 2013 @ 432lbs. Reached my main personal goal of 200lbs on November 22nd, 2014 which is a loss of 232lbs. So that's about 3.6lbs a week average? Currently 197lbs.

I started at 215 pounds, with an initial goal of 170 (which became 160, then 150).
I lost 1.1 pounds a week for the first six months. Then I lost 0.75 pounds a week for the next six months. Then 0.4 pounds a week for the third six-month period, and in the last five and a half months, 0.27 pounds a week.
Total loss is 64.1 pounds over the course of 100 weeks, or 0.64 pounds per week on average. I am now transitioning to maintenance.
Edited to add: my weight loss was pretty consistent, though I did aim for maintenance around the winter holidays last year. I had a couple of very brief periods where my weight plateaued for just a couple of weeks, once when I had been on antibiotics and once more about 6-8 weeks ago. In both cases, I continued to maintain a deficit, and the plateau was followed by rapid weight loss, so I figure in both cases I was retaining water (and the antibiotics no doubt messed with my gut flora).1 -
When I lost 65 pounds back in 2008-2009, the first 45 went by pretty quickly with hardly any effort and took about six months. Then I plateaued at 170 and stayed there for a long time. Then I got to losing again and went from 170 to 150 in about six months. 160 to 150 was quicker than 170 to 160, maybe because I was so close to goal I was more motivated, or perhaps good habits were more ingrained.
I gained back some of the weight and am now back on the wagon. I followed a similar pattern. Fairly quick loss to 170, then a long plateau at 170. I'm back down to 160 and I hope to repeat the pattern from before and get to 150 by the spring.0 -
It's taken me 75 days to lose 12. I have 15 to go.0
-
I dropped pretty steady at 3lb/month for 9 months (30 lbs) and now I've been stuck at 162 since September. I do feel that I'm still making improvements, though, in strength, endurance, and some in the inches. I feel confident that this will break and head downward again.1
-
I drop between 12-15lbs a month, but I am working my *kitten* off for it. I am very disciplined and my goal is only 50lbs away. This baby weight must go. I plan to be ready for summer. 30lbs gone so far.2
-
292 days to drop 110 lbs. However, I started at 336.8 lbs as well. I began logging the Monday after I started this journey. Came to a screeching halt two weeks or so before Thanksgiving, but started playing with my calories and started losing again.1
-
It's taken me 85 days to lose 10 lbs. I had lost 11 1/2, but then gained 1 1/2 back. It's been frustrating because my weight is very stubborn - it doesn't want to come off.0
-
I've lost 26 lbs since aug 15 that's about 6 1/2 lbs per month. I set my goal for 2 lbs a week. I was not always perfect but I am happy with my progress. I did have ups and downs during that time. I kept track of the ups on a separate spreadsheet and tried to only track downs on myfitnesspal. this worked for me psychologically because I didn't beat myself up over fluctuation. However I made a couple exceptions when I went up 5 lbs I did mark it on myfitness pal so I could motivate myself to put on the brakes.0
-
I can't tell you about the first 42lbs, because I wasn't logging my weight anywhere and I don't remember (was back in 2012).
March 13 - April 13 (2013) : 11.6lbs lost

Oct 11 - Nov 11(2014): 8.6lbs lost
Nov 11 - Dec 11 (2014): 6lbs lost
***I had my 2nd c-section May 29th. I was weighed 2 days before my c-section and didn't step on a scale again until Jun 11. There is an 18lb difference between May 27 and Jun 11, but I'm positive it was my son, water weight, etc.
For me, the rate of loss has been all over the place. Some months are slower than others.0 -
I have kept records of many weight loss bloggers over the years, and of the dozens I have graphed to see how they were going, only one has consistently lost weight, with a greater loss at the beginning, and a smaller loss at the end. All of the others lost a bit, gained a bit, and repeated at least once.
Here is my current loss, it's only been about 50 days.
The last time I reached goal weight (sigh), I actually sped up for the last 7 kilograms.0 -
I'm down 28 lbs in 107 days. 1.83 lbs/wk1
-
I found that weight came off very quickly in the beginning and definitely started to slow down... I also became a little more relaxed about my diet the closer I got to my goal of 140.

With a starting weight of 168.8 (Aug 7) and a goal weight of 135 (?? It's a moving target right now)
Start date: Aug. 7, 168.8 lbs
- 5 lbs Aug. 30th (3.5 weeks)
- 10 lbs Sept 24th (+3.5 weeks)
- 15 lbs Oct. 14th (+3 weeks)
- 20 lbs Nov. 13th (+4 weeks)
- 25 lbs Dec. 8th (+3.5 weeks)
So my personal weight loss has held very steady when looked at on a 5 lb basis, though there were some short plateaus hidden in there. 7 lbs to goal, I expect it to get much harder right away!

I've gone from 174 down to 129, which is 45 pounds in 47 weeks, so right around a pound a week.
In October, I was approaching my goal weight so I dropped my weight loss rate from 1 pound a week to half a pound per week. Then in November, I had oral surgery, got the flu, had a gum biopsy done, then a relapse of the flu. So I lost that last 10 pounds in about 6 weeks, but it was a miserable existence. I'm pretty sure I lost some muscle along with the fat, because I feel very weak now.
On the one hand, it's hard to complain, I know those last few pounds are so tough for so many people. On the other hand, it's not how I planned it. I wanted to ease into maintenance. Also after being deprived of real food for so long, it's really tempting to binge on all the holiday stuff.0 -
Unfortunately I would get serious for two weeks, then cave for 3 days and repeat... So my chart is all over the place.0
-
I think I averaged about a pound a week for the first year, which I'm happy with. If I can keep up that average for this coming year I'll be at my goal by next December or the following January.
That one pound a week has been a real struggle though. I have almost no room to make mistakes anymore.0 -
I was 58kg in August, I'm 53kg now. So that averages around to 0.3kg per week. Slow and steady ^_^0
-
Recently my weight loss has gone weird but still downwards trend
in line with my goals set on MFP
5lb week 1
2lb a week for about 2-3 months
1 to 1.5lb a week for 2 months
and now 0.5lb a week (with 7lb left to go)
Oddly since moving to 0.5lb a week I seem to fluctuate between the same 2lbs for 2 weeks eg 173-174lbs - then after my period I drop down 3 or 4lbs almost overnight eg to 171lb then I'll fluctuate between the lower 2lbs for 2 weeks eg 171 to 172lbs and repeat
but it averages out - and I watch trendweight.com which tells me I'm losing an average of 0.6lb a week so that I don't get discouraged

I lost 66lbs after my 2nd baby, but it was very slow to begin with. The first month I only lost 2lbs. I think hormones may have had an impact because I was only 8 weeks post partum at first weigh in. When weight loss really kicked in I probably only lost at the rate of 1lb a week, sometimes a little more. It sped up a bit when I started to eat a bit more (1200 up to 1500 calories), probably because I was doing a lot of strength training and needed the extra calories for my workouts.
My third baby is 7 months now and I'm losing at about 1lb a week, sometimes 1.5. I've lost a lot of inches though.0 -
I'm down 38lbs in 6 months.
First few weeks I lost 2-3lbs a week.
Then it slowed to 1 pound with some random 2lb losses thrown in there
And now it's like 0.2 or even a scale gain. I'm 11 away from goal.0 -

ETA stats: 5'8", 36 years old, female; SW 254.6 lbs - My average weekly loss has been 1.1 lbs over the course of the last almost-2 years but at first I had way too much of a deficit - I lost 11 pounds in my first 10 days (yes I know mostly water), 20 lbs by the end of the first month, and I ended the second month at 31 pounds lost (so almost 4 pounds a week in my first 60 days, yikes no wonder my current .5 a week seems SO SLOW!)0
-
Lost quickly to start (20# first month), kept losing at a reasonable pace (6#/month), and has gradually slowed (1-2#/month). The only time I stalled happened when I wasn't logging everything I ate.0

Here is my graph - a couple of flat spots where muscle gain probably cancelled fat loss but overall quite steady.
- around 2.4 lbs per week

I keep a spreadsheet on Google Docs that I record my daily weight into. The spreadsheet then averages my weight for the week. I don't worry too much about daily weight and I use the average weekly weight as my "true" weight, or my gauge of progress. So, all that being said, here's a distillation of my spreadsheet. The date is the ending Sunday of the week and weight is my weekly average :

Using my starting weight and my ending average weight from last Sunday, I've averaged 1.3 lbs per week since I started seriously trying to lose weight last July.0 -
It took me a year to lose 37 lb.0

I set my goal, exercise burn, and calorie intake tracker for one pound of weight loss per week. In the end, that is exactly what things averaged out to be. However, I remember there were weeks that seemed to flatline and stagnate, and there were weeks that I dropped more than a pound. Yet, it all worked as planned - average of one pound per week until the goal was met.
I am in maintenance mode now which requires constant vigilance as well....1
