I posted that on NYE. Almost embarrassed to say it has brought me to tears.

Tears of laughter, of joy or otherwise? I hope you're okay?

Although the majority of Calvin & Hobbes is timeless, technology doesn't translate well. It's hard to imagine in this world of digital everything that not long ago, people would call a phone number to get a time check...

Joy. Inspiration. Sadness. Think of history and philosophy and potential and class and....so many applications. It's heart-rendering.

It was Calvin and Hobbes' last publication. The cartoon takes its own death, that of its column, and transforms it into a carte blanche: a world full of hope and possibility, the joy of complete freedom of thought and action, leading to endless possible outcomes. How *kitten* beautiful is that.

I don't bookmark many threads, but this one is on my list. LOVE Calvin and always have. Every year I have "The Complete Calvin & Hobbes" on my Xmas list when I see it at Costco, and every year it's sold out by the time I return again. One of these days I'll get it. Thank you for Sharing! <3:)

    You got it! :-)

Every year for the past 4 years I've seen it at Costco (along with the Complete Far Side) for $50 Cdn...but I feel guilty buying for myself so I pass it by. Then when I find a way to jusify it to myself...it's all gone. :D

Yeah, I hear you. You start looking at the value of things differently when you have someone relying on you, and you know his/her needs.

Yes, his final panel was bittersweet to the point of poetic... Watterson is a genius.

I'm unsure of the wisdom of telling a nasty ol' barracuda that she is a nasty ol' barracuda...
