Big fan, I remember reading those comics and my grandparents, and then my grandpa got me a big book of them. I still have it somewhere.

In my experience, many of the adventures are better after they're done. During the adventure is often uncomfortable, scary or both.

Calvin's life would be more fun if those around him were a bit more gullible...

I'm not going to say I was full-on Calvin when I was younger but here's a true story...

As an angsty teen, I went to get a haircut at the mall. Since there was a significant number of people ahead of me, I grabbed a Slushy shaved ice thang to drink while I waited. After a few minutes, I was making the awful slurping.

The guy seated across from me got annoyed and commented "Didn't your mother teach you any manners?"

I replied "My mother died when I was two." which is complete *kitten*... my mother is still alive, even now.

The guy got ashen-faced, muttered an "I'm so sorry" then got up and left...

I chuckled when you shared this because my two daughters - whose father was dead but they had never known him so were pretty much matter of fact about it - used to say to people that.."MY FATHER IS DEAD" too because they felt it wAs a nice way to embarrass people who were either making comments they should not have been or asking in appropriate questions. lol. another funny...my kids were close in age and always were up to mischief..they used to sit in a side by side stroller so I could keep a close eye on them and while strolling them around they would pretend they were talking Spanish, French, sign language to each other just to see peoples reactions,. they were the lights of my life - I loved raising them.

Although I usually offer pithy comments on each cartoon, I'm going to just throw backlogged comics three at a time...

It's bright sunny day here in Ottawa but a bit cold & windy... Maybe it just feels that way because I miss Texas?

I doubt those notes will go down the toilet whole... Calvin needs to tear 'em up first or it'll just plug up.

I've never quite understood the Valentine's Day thang. Most of these Hallmark holidays seem like an excuse to spend money... although I'm considering sending roses to my fiance...
