Protein Consumption, Cardio, and Muscle Mass

I'm trying to lose weight, but I want to prevent as much muscle mass loss as possible. I've noticed that after logging my cardio workouts my recommended protein consumption changes. Should I be aiming to reach that number or am I alright at consuming around 50 grams of protein.
FYI I probably burn on average 400-600 calories daily. I'm laying off the running for a while and switching to cardio kick boxing, spin, and step aerobics. This means, depending on the class, I could burn up to about 800 calories a day.
What should I do?

Shoot for more protein. By default myfitness has protein requirements set low. You can change the change the percentages or just consume anywhere from .85 to 1.5 gram of protein per lb of body weight. Adjust your carbs and fats accordingly.0
