OK I'll bite, why does everyone go crazy for squats?

Never done them myself. What's so good about them?

For me it helps with the serious case of "no-*kitten*-at-alls" I have. Baby is building back 1 squat at a time!

Causes more muscle and strength gain than any other exercise imaginable.
Hits more muscles simultaneously than any other exercise imaginable.
Trains multiple muscle groups in unison to function in a natural motion.

does all of this more efficiently than isolation exercises and in a much shorter time frame

Gotcha. I should incorporate it into my workout. Assisted with barbell?
  • Because have you ever watched a hot girl in yoga pants do them? *faints*

You don't have to start out with a barbell. You can start with just body weight until you feel comfortable with a barbell.

I wanted to do any challenge and this was one that I picked. Happy I did because I am on day 21 and I have lost 2 inches off my Butt (I needed to trust me) and 1 inch of each thigh.

I think people go for them because they are pretty compound and work out a lot of muscle groups. Of course if you lift weights and don't squat, most of the macho DYEL-bro's will try and put you down over it. There are plenty of alternatives to doing regular squats, that can still give you the same results. It just usually takes more effort and time. Although squats take a ton of time to master and doing them wrong can, and will **** your back up.

I probably will do BW for now, yes.

Brownsbacker yes, I value my back and the effects of BW exercises so will go with that for now.

Look at the Strong Lifts program. You do squats at the beginning of each workout. You start with just the barbell and then add 5lbs each session. Do them in the power rack, don't squat with the Smith machine.

I don't know if my butt is exactly "wonderful" yet, but considering I'm still a lot closer to obesity than to a "normal" weight, I'm pretty pleased with what squats have done for me.

Because for me they help my butt, all of the muscles in my legs and when I do weights which I am slowly adding my arms. They do this pretty much better than almost any other exercise I do.

Wide stance powerlifting type squats will utilize the glutes more than narrow stance which is intensive on the quads. Also, lifting at higher intensity will cause more strength gain and less actual size gained. And lastly, stick legs on girls is gross,.When your BF% drops youll have amazing legs that look better than any skinny models sticks of flab.
