Subway Sandwich Calories....be careful

That was uncalled for! Some people do not need to watch their sodium intake as they have needs for higher intake, or have no issues with a normal intake! Informing them of the "evil levels" of salt content in Subway's food may bring them unneeded and unfairly placed anxiety!4 -
So, I'm going to re-open this discussion. It is hard for me to believe that a footlong piece of bread is only 400 calories. So, I went onto Walmart's website and found a baguette bread that is about 3" around and about 18" long. The bread is about 1120 calories for 18" or about 62 calories per inch. Multiplied by 6 inches, it's approximately 373 calories for 6" just for the bread. Add another 100 calories for the meat slices (3-4) and you get 473. Another 27 calories for the veggies (no sauce other than mustard) and you got 500 calories in a 6 " sub. How is it then, are Subway sandwiches are 260 calories for a 6" sub?? Is the bun so light and airy that they contain half the calories of store-bought bread? I then started looking at regular sandwich bread and find that it's 70 calories per slice or 140 calories per sandwich- at 4" x 4" each. Wrap up meat and veggies and you come up with 140+100+25= 265 for 8 inches of sandwich. It's "food" for thought!0

Have you ever had Subway's bread? It's not dense at all. You can't really compare it to a baguette.9 -
Yeah, the bread is kind of like eating nothing. It's how you can have a 6" sub for like 200 calories.2

160 calories for lunch? I would pass out! that's barely enough energy to walk into a subway and stand in line.1

I am not a fan of Subway sandwiches. I will swing by there and pick up a veggie salad as a base here and there.
You have to be careful at any restaurant if you eat out a lot. At subway the chief concerns would be any high calorie item that comes from a squeeze bottle or a scoop. If you order a sandwich with vegetables, cheese, mustard, and deli meat and you add the cheese to the calorie count you are probably going to be eating about what they say you will be eating. If you get mayo you are ruining the sandwich forever and you may be getting more or less calories than you bargained for. Mostly you are ruining the sandwich forever. On occasion this calorie variance is not a big deal. If you eat there daily it might present a problem.
So the rule here is do not use mayo on anything other than a BLT and even then go very light. It might also have something to do with calories... I forget.1 -

my theory is when in doubt add an error factor - log it as 1.1 serving or 1.2 that gives you a buffer0
