I've reached my goal weight 4 times in the past 20 years only to work my way back up to obesity. Now I have some issues that make it really important for me to get healthy. I’m not fooling myself. It’s hard for me because I love eating and drinking and smoking. Ha, Ha. I haven’t smoked for two years, but if a doctor said it cured hangnails (or anything) I’d be puffing away. So here I go. I’m going for a moderate balanced diet to lose weight, and exercise to build muscle. My options are kind of limited because my hips are shot. I did get to little fat and lots of muscle with running and weights when I was younger. I need tips on how to stay with it and be disciplined.

Diet is more important than exercise to lose weight, so just do what you can. Input your stats and goals, and start logging your food. Any cardio you can do, including walking, can buy you some extra calories, and some weight training to maintain muscle is great. But how much you eat will make or break it! And be patient with yourself... No one is perfect and one bad day is just a bump in the road, not a reason to feel guilty and backslide. That probably gets more people than anything else
