I gain weight if I eat above 1000 calories

Nobody gains weight on 1,000 calories. Maybe my cat, that's it.
Oh wait, old thread.1 -

I am in the exact same boat, it is a struggle for me to eat over 1000 calories regularly, I usually just don't have much of an appetite, and I have still gained about 10 pounds in the last few months. I don't exercise much, but my job is fairly active, I do work around the house and walk my dogs. Wish I knew why I'm gaining weight!
Zombie thread or not, it needs to be pointed out to people that FAT GAIN is NOT THE ONLY REASON PEOPLE GAIN WEIGHT.
So, in order of probability and most probably all mixed together at the same time.
There is a body weight scale measurement error with few as opposed to multiple weight ins that clearly establish a weight level and a trend. Two or three "samples" cannot clearly peg down one's weight level and how it changes over time.
There is a food intake measurement error and more energy is being taken in than assumed. If this is not the case and if the 1000 Calories are measured by weighting food on a scale (not eye-balling) and by choosing correct database entries, then we have a medical issue as to why one would be struggling to consume 1000 Cal as an adult.
OR, there is a reason secondary to energy intake as to why one's weight has gone up. This could be legitimate and benign water retention, or an actual medical problem.
While the OP was (to me) clearly a case where immediate water weight changes were being mis-interpreted as weight gain and loss, the new post above where the weight gain is over a month is not as clear. Unexplained weight gain over a long enough time period would definitely have me visiting my doctor to rule out anything bad.
