It is important for one reason...that this type of literature is going mainstream. Out of the shadows so to say. I didn't read it, because I don't read that type of stuff anyway.

It's better to be experienced in person -- who needs books.....

Maybe the movie will be better without Anastasia's constant inner thoughts.

Funny that you mention that. It was my SAME feeling about Twilight. The movies were slightly more bearable without the pathetic internal monologue of the female lead.

Amen, Sista! Preach on.. While Bella's constant whining and obsession got annoying really quickly, I was grateful her catchphrase wasn't "Oh My" or "Crap."

Every time I read "oh my" I hear it in the voice of George Takei, so that at least made me laugh and gave the book some value. :p

You want another reason to turn the book into proverbial toilet paper? E L James modeled Christian Grey after her husband. And while many women all over the world are dropping their panties over MOVIE Christian Grey...

    The real Christian follows...

I didn't know this. And I'm glad you didn't turn it into a drinking game, you would have died and nobody wants to say "the last thing I read before I died was 50 Shades of Grey".

    terrible books
    terribly written
    by a terribly un-informed person
that describes an incredibly abusive (and i mean really abusive) relationship by a manipulative man and a gullible woman
the film (as i doubt they will do the follow ups but who knows in this day and age) will be a watered down version of the books and be marketed as soft porn titilation that people will go see purely for the voyeurism of the whole thing

if any film should be boycotted by the general public at all it should be this... the only reason it is being made at all is for money, not because it is a worthwhile story to tell

seriously if this is what people think a loving dom/sub relationship is then they are sorely mistaken

    </rant>

    100% ACCURATE

Couldn't have said it better! I forced myself to finish the first book (despite the urge to smash my Nook into 1000 pieces if I had to read the words "inner goddess", "flush", "blush" or "gasp", one more time). It was the worst writing with the least endearing characters of any book I've read in decades.....possibly ever.

Hated that book! Seriously, the guy was creepy. And a stalker. And she whines too much.

Yes! I am not the only one who hated it! I could absolutely not stand the female character. I found her to be weak, whiney, and easily manipulated. I am more into literature that empowers women.

Thank you!! My cousin tried to get me to read the books... one of my former co-workers had been reading it, as well... I thought about it. Now I'm so glad I didn't.

However, I never knew that it was meant to be Twilight fan fiction. I liked Twilight (go ahead, stone me now)...
