I'd recommend gaeng gai if they have it. It's a pretty basic curry variant, but something about the sauce is just... transcendent. My other favorite is pad thai.

don't give up on thai food - thought i hated it until i had good thai food. favourites include tom yum soup, green curry or red curry (any meat or fish) with coconut rice, i also had an amazing seabass with ginger and green onions once that was delicious. this is in the UK though so i don't know to what extent menus/ingredients vary in the US/other countries, or indeed how authentic it is...its just good.

Ooh now I must get Thai food this weekend.

    For me it's:
Satay tofu and vegetable tempura to start.
Thai red curry and sticky rice for main.

    Hope you enjoyed your meal.

I love Thai food. My husband has an aunt from Thailand and she does the best thai green chicken curry.

I usually go for red or green curry, but I've been to a Thai restaurant before in a big group and we've got loads of dishes to share, and everything has been so tasty.

Have fun tonight! I always have the drunken noodles or drunken spaghetti. Delish.

Honestly, MrM - that really doesn't look like good Thai food to me. I'd be pretty darn disappointed, at least at the visuals, if this is what hit my table.

Give Thai another chance at a better place.

Ah, bluh! Ended up making my own pad thai with konjac noodles last night that was probably more authentic than that XD

Was a bit worried about the quality when I saw a bunch of Chinese dishes on the menu, but that just sucks. Also, pad thai often has egg in it, just to warn!

Did you get to try any Thai tea?

    Bummer.

Lousy Thai food is worse than lousy Chinese food in my opinion. Probably because I love Thai much more, so it's a bigger disappointment.

Chicken and Shrimp Pad Thai. I'm drooling thinking about it.

Sorry, I'm obviously late to the show. You have to try another one place. Best ethnic food hands down.

I know. Well like I said, I didn't have anything to compare it to. Sucks. I hope to have better luck next time.

It was. It left a nasty filmy taste in my mouth.

All of this plus why are the peanuts on the side? Bizarre plating.

Don't give up on thai, just find a better place.

And, for the record, I love a good green curry and mango sticky rice for dessert.

Not to mention that it came out of a mold. Don't mold your pad thai, people.

    LOL, right? Why so fancy.

The best thai places just throw a big plate of noodles in front of you.

I was going to get a tea or dessert after dinner but I didn't want anymore money spent in that place.

Next time. Really good sticky rice is mind blowing.

It is Friday. You should probably start a mean people thread.

I would but the last thing I want to do is bring more attention to the crappy dinner.

Well, I think you are being mean for not providing me with some Friday afternoon entertainment.

Well I think you are being mean for interrupting me while I make my bacon egg and cheese sandwich.

Stop trying to sabotage my diet with that goodness.

I agree with everyone. Take the lady and find a better restaurant. I usually go with panang curry or basil chicken.

And random question, did your Indian friend use a fork? I was at a thai restaurant once, and saw a group of Indians eating with their hands. I never really thought about it, but of course if that's what you're used to, it's what you would do at all restaurants. My problems is that I'd forget and rub my eye before I washed my hands and have burning eyes for days...
