The answer is yes (with caveats, of course). Recovery or easy rides where you pedal very easy and your heart rate remains quite low is not too taxing on one's body and is used as what we call "active recovery" between the harder efforts. Likewise, if you are using a bike as transportation for commuting/shopping/going somewhere with the pace low and not cranking out very much power - it won't be too negative on the body.
However, if one is continually hammering away at harder efforts without allowing enough recovery between hard sessions - including a rest day or active recovery day or two - it can be negative. I usually schedule two days of active recovery in my week as a bare minimum - sometimes three depending on how hard I go the other days.
Are you riding every day without any rest?0 -
Had some extra semi-unexpected guests the past few days, so no time on the saddle. Put in a long day today, but it'll take 2 more long rides to make it to 400. Good to give it a shot now that I'm pretty well rested post-half marathon, and my knee is a bit happier.

Plowed through another 60 today/tonight (with my new uber-bright headlamp), and forgot about a short 7 miler on my cruiser on Tuesday, so down to 67 miles tomorrow to hit my target. I guess I should have considered the length of February when setting my 400 mile goal.

I'm on my mountain bike doing 13-25 miles a session while it's cold. I can't wait for the weather to change so I can get out on the road bike. I've had a garmin connect for Xmas, it's amazing it just downloads everything to strava and mfp instantly.0

Calf muscle started bugging me on my ride today, so decided to call it quits at 350 miles total. Planning another 400 for the 3-day-longer month of March, which may be a bit of a stretch as my running plan is calling for 180 miles. Regardless, looking forward to the challenge as my weight has been creeping up this month, and I'd like to run my next marathon in May about 15lb lighter than my current weight.
