I love the 5:2 diet, its changed my life forever, I am now a very happy person! I will do this for the rest of my life! Woop Woop! ))0

It's a nice schedule, 8pm onward is sleeping time so you don't feel very hungry because your asleep. Is this everyday? Or just in two days?
16/8 is used every day. :-) The bonus is you eat what you like in the 8 hours.
The good thing about 5:2 is that you're only restricted for 2 days a week.
They both have their benefits, just depends which fits your lifestyle best :-)
But I guess 16/8 is faster than 5:2. I guess I'll try that. Thanks for the info!0 -
I love the 5:2 diet. I've always been a terrible dieter but never needed to lose a vast amount just a stone here and there after my three babies. 5:2 has got me to within 2lbs of my pre-babies weight and has been so easy to maintain. I've been doing 6:1 for about the last 6/8 weeks but this week am doing a 5:2 as I did put on a few pounds last week and I'm going on holiday next week so won't bother doing any fast days.0

Once you are down to target weight you don't need to do it for the rest of your life, so I don't understand that question, but some people at target choose to fast 1 day a week 6:1 for maintenance.
The 5:2 diet is recommended for health (particularly cancer prevention/risk reduction) reasons, with weight loss being a pleasant side effect. So my understanding is that it is supposed to be a way of life, rather than something you stop when you reach target weight. Some people drop to fasting one day a week when they reach their target weight, as this helps sustain health benefits of the fasting/low calorie eating, but stops them from losing too much weight.
Obviously, if someone is purely only doing it for weight loss reasons, it would make sense that they could choose to stop at target weight, provided they then don't go over their maintenance daily calorie amount. Personally, I'm doing it for the health reasons first, due to family history of cancer, and the weight loss is much appreciated, as it got me over a plateau.
I've been doing it consistently for 8 months and find it perfectly sustainable. It's the best thing I've ever done with regards to weight loss.0 -
Once you reach your goal weight, you could even try doing 6:1 to maintain.
It's a very adaptable plan.0 -
Hi, I've been doing this for a good few weeks now and have lost 9lb. Once you get into a routine it's a really easy system to follow, and the golden words when you're finding it hard on a fast day "there's always tomorrow"
Good luck!:happy:0 -
Is this really effective? But you still need to exercise right? I would love to try it!
Exercise is up to you, not critical to any weight loss regime.0 -
I've been at it for 2 years and have lost over 20 lbs (I'm 5'7 and weigh 129, so I didn't have a lot to lose). I get in at least an hour of cardio every day, but save the long bicycle rides for the weekends when I'm not fasting. In addition to reducing your calories on fast days, I think part of the benefit is that you get used to eating less, and that spills over into the other 5 days. I have no intention of getting off of this unless I start getting dangerously thin, and I don't see that happening.0

Currently doin 5:2 . Add meeeee :-)0

I've been doing 5:2 for about 6 months and it is awesome! Feel free to add me if you like!0

just started 16;8 finding it relatively easy will weigh in a couple of weeks....what was your average calorie intake in the 8 hour eating window.....did you count??0
-
I'm on week 3, so today is my 6th fast. I've lost 3 pounds so far. Excited to weigh in tomorrow
Fast days aren't fun, but not being overly concerned with calories 5 days a week makes up for it!0 -
Idk if this is relevant or not, but i'm on my 2nd week of JUDDD. It's similar to 5:2 but you alternate fasting days with high calorie days. So far so good- I've lost 2 lbs. I haven't lost 1 lb/week since the beginning of my weight loss journey so this is great for me. only 8 more lbs to go!0
-
I am also on 5:2. Fasting on Mondays and Thursdays and today and my third fast day. It's definitely easier with every fast day and generally easier than I thought it would be. It's kind of liberating to know that tomorrow you can eat whatever you like!0

Is there a fast diet group?0

Hi Getrealforme,
I eat between 1900 and 2000 calories each day Sunday to Thursday and have done so for 22 weeks. For the first twelve weeks, I ate 1000 calories on Friday and Saturday and now eat 500 calories on the Saturday - last week is the first week that I haven't lost any weight and it was the first time that I ate 500 calories on two days so I am going back to 1000/500 to see what happens0 -
Is there a fast diet group?

Third fast completed last night on the 5:2 and Ive lost 2.86 pounds(1.3 kilos) have been working out and not over eating on feast days
Very surprised how Ive survived on 500 calories twice a week! Although I went over by about 15 cals yesterday but its not the end of the world0 -
Do you eat back your exercise calories on fast days?0
-
I love 5:2!!! I also combine it with 16/8 and low-carb it.0

I suppose I d since I allow about 1,000 calories on fast days. I didn't need to lose a lot or lose it fast, though.0 -

Congratulations. You are doing it. I want to start the diet myself, especially now that I've given up cigaretts. I need to eat right and exercise. Can you email me the diet or provide the source where I can get it. Thanks.0

Congrats to everyone!! I'm at the 3rd week 6th fast day and I'm down in pounds. I really like the this plan and way of life. I find it so much easier than other diets I've tried. My hubby has been very supportive. He also is on the diet and is shedding pounds. How much weight has everyone lost in their first month.:flowerforyou:

How do you save the fast days in the app to be included in weekly reports? It gives me "consumed too less calories add meal" error. I want to be able to track my fast and feast days in the app.0

I'm really intrigued by this diet and am thinking about trying it. Could someone describe to me what they normally eat on a fast day please?0

Many people just have a normal-ish dinner in the evening of the fast day.0 -
occasionally, I don't enjoy my two fasting days (Fri/Sat) because of the lack of food, but the scales on Sunday always make me happy so that makes me persevere, and I eat well on the other 5.0
