Starting Today....

Brand new to this site, and determined to do things differently. I am a health care provider with 142 pounds to lose, which seems like an oxymoron, and I am currently filled with trepidation, resentment, regrets, and a huge amount of negative self-talk. Part of me REALLY doesn't want to do what is necessary to start this undertaking, but there are so many reasons, some good, some bad, that I HAVE to do this now. I know I will need help.

What can I do to support you?
  • I will need reassurance that it is normal to feel angry that I have to do this, frustrated by a metabolism that makes gaining weight so much easier than losing, and sad that the rewards seem so far away.
  • Good job, Jen! You started even though you didn't want to, and you logged food and lost 80 lbs between Feb 2015 and the end of 2019. Then COVID hit, and over the space of 2020, you gained back 30 lbs, but you were still down 50 from your starting point! And then in Feb 2021, you got serious again and are still at it today, 3/3/22, and you are down to 164 lbs now--you have lost 136 lbs!!! You look incredible! The rewards are here, even though you are still about 20-24 lbs from your ultimate goal of a healthy BMI. You're the best!

There is a great group here for people who have or had 75 or more pounds (34kg, 5st5) to lose:

    https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/133315-larger-losers

Lots of nice, helpful folks there, at varying points on the path to their goals, so chances to share ideas with others just starting, get advice from people who're well on the way to success, and more.

Wishing you much success - you can do this!
  • Thanks, @AnnPT77 ! I will check it out!
