Anyone else just... slow?

I used to work in a bakery as a salesperson, and got told that I was... slow. Not as dumb, but as not fast, when doing basic stuff like cleaning, ringing people up, picking up pastries etc. I never really noticed it, frankly, and was going as fast as I could.

Now I'm 60 pounds lighter than I was at the time, and also older, and I just can't move fast enough to keep up with my workout (Les Mills Combat, if anyone's asking). Just... can't. I do it at my own pace, but it's a bit frustrating. It's not even that I'm exhausted or something, it's just too fast for me.

Is it just me?

I don't work out so I wouldn't know about that, but I'm a very slow walker in comparison to most other people :\ when walking with friends I always have to walk much faster than my natural pace to keep up and I get out of breath. This hasn't improved any with 46lbs gone and it's always been this way. I just like to take my time. I'm 5'7 so it's not like I have a short stride, and I'm only 19 so it's not age... It might also be because I like to observe things when I'm walking from A to B. I'm a creative writing degree student so I like to see things I could use!
Just wish my friends could understand that I want to go at my own pace, and that strangers wouldn't sneer at me so much when overtaking. I always move to one side so that they can do so

OP - speed at doing tasks is something that comes with practice. Keep at it - and you'll get quicker with the repetition.

I'm a very slow and methodical person myself. I may be slow, but I'm thorough and don't often make errors. It's all good. Just keep being You! (*)

    I sure hope so!

I'm a fast walker though, but I wonder if it's just lack of coordination or clumsiness or something.

I'm 47 after a 40 lb loss I don't feel faster, I've always had a fast paced job , I can crouch down much easier now but by the end of the day I get pretty tired, glad I work out in the morning !

Are you uncoordinated? I don't know what the workout is like but maybe that's a factor. I'm not slow in general but I am uncoordinated so keeping up with a class or video is pretty impossible. I can't even shoot a layup in basketball because the running/jumping/shooting sequence is too much for me. My gym teacher gave up trying to teach me even.

I'm also very slow. Or 'methodical' as I like to call it.

Doesn't bother me any. I don't know why people are always in such a rush anyway.

Francl, in honor of you rejoining the group, you can have my 12,000th post. Now I demand you go eat something yummy and post it in the group.

Lol - just as helpful! But, much less of a rude comment.

And where can I find the yummy food group - I need some of that on my life.

Are you eating enough calories for your needs?, if you eat too few, you feel slow and tired. I eat between 1250- 1350 and feel full of beans but I'm a shorty :smirk:

And I might get something yummy tomorrow. I'm not sure yet (I got a Reese's egg today, does it count?).

It just takes practice. Take it slow and it will come to you. Trying to move too fast out of frustration is not the answer. Just do what you can and just keep doing that part if you want. Its like choreography. You don't go through the whole dance because no one is going to remember the whole thing. It's all about doing a certain move over and over, moving on, and putting it all together.

I am freaky-fast for a fat person. I walk faster than some people run. I swim a mile in just a hair over 30 minutes. I used to be a dancer and I am really agile for someone my size.

As long as you are not in anybody's way, just do your own thing and work on getting slightly better at it all the time.

Hey now. Without rules we're all just plunged into anarchy, roaming about willy nilly. Can't have that, can we?

Nope. And thus rules are rules.

Also calling people names (tatertots? Tarots? Traitors?) Is against the rules too. Tsk.
